I didn't interpret a 2nd Direct as taking away hype; I interpreted it as giving Zelda the space it deserves while also making separate room for a bunch of other games and announcements. Although it might not have been a bad idea to space the two Directs a week (or more) apart, instead of having them across two consecutive days!
Either way, I hope both Directs have great reveals
For Tuesday's Zelda Direct, I think it's pretty reasonable to expect more information about Ocarina of Time (release date, more clips, is it a 1:1 remake or are there changes from the N64 version, etc.) and the Zelda movie (full cast, a scene, does Link speak, more pictures, etc.).
For Wednesday's Non-Zelda Direct, I have a feeling we'll finally see some big news for another popular Nintendo franchise. I don't know if it'll be more Pokemon Winds/Waves or if it'll be a new game - the next 3D Mario, the next Smash, etc. - but I think we'll see something exciting to build up even more hype for 2027 or possibly 2028 (even if it's the very last announcement of the Direct and just a brief teaser).

Yeah I recall him saying that too, and a Super Smash Bros. game without Sakurai at the helm could feel very strange. Given how popular and successful the franchise is, however, I could see Nintendo eager to negotiate with Sakurai. He was extremely happy to revive and create Kirby Air Riders, for example, so maybe he'd agree to alternating games: allowing one or two big passion projects after each new Smash title, to keep Sakurai happy.
Nintendo has had a new Smash game for every single console generation since the N64, so I'd be surprised if the Switch 2 gets skipped. I think there will eventually be a new Smash for Switch 2, even if Sakurai doesn't help.
That being said, the roster of a hypothetical new Smash game could be hit or miss: should the roster include *everyone* again, like in Ultimate? With a few additional characters, we'd be looking at a hundred total, or even more, which is kind of insane! And what new things would be added? What would the single player / adventure mode look like? Nintendo took a big, innovative, unique, controversial swing with Mario Kart World (compared to MK8D and previous MK titles), so maybe a new Smash for Switch 2 would have some crazy ideas too.
I haven't posted here in a while, so I just wanted to write a post about some Switch 2 purchases that I've made during the past few months.
I got Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream in June because the kids were very hyped for the game, and they are still playing it. My oldest daughter really loves the Splatoon series and enjoyed finishing Splatoon Raiders as well. I hope they release some more content for that game. I do think that 70 CAD is a bit much for a game that can be finished in 20 hours or less.
I also bought Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on sale, mostly for my son because he likes Sonic and racing games. It looks like a fun game. The Switch 2 has a lot of fun racing games like Mario Kart World, Kirby Air Riders, etc. I didn't get the Kirby one because none of the kids seem interested in Kirby as a whole.
Also, I got Rain World and one of its DLCs called Rain World: Downpour. I had never heard of this game, but my daughter told me about it and wanted to play it. It is a Survival Platformer that is supposedly very hard at times. My daughter absolutely loved similar games like Hollow Knight and Silksong, and is currently playing through Ori and the Will of the Wisps. It seems that Rain World + Downpour is around 100 hours of content. I'm also pretty sure that I'm going to get Final Fantasy Resonance. She finished Octopath Traveller 0/1/2 already and enjoys JRPGs with that HD-2D visual style.
I think I'll probably get Pokémon Pokopia at some point because it looks like a relaxing, fun game. I've put a lot of hours into Dragon Quest XI on the Switch, and it looks like that they are releasing the Switch 2 version/update pack on September 24th, and I would like to go back and finish some end-game content that I left unfinished. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee - Remastered is coming out on November 2nd, and I will probably wait for a sale to pick up the game. I'm a big Godzilla fan, but not the biggest fan of most Godzilla games.
In 2027, would like to pick up the Final Fantasy VII trilogy once it has all been released. I would probably get the new Spyro Game and Crazy Taxi: World Tour. I put so many hours into Crazy Taxi on the Sega Dreamcast as a kid, so if the new Crazy Taxi game is any good, it would be a must-buy for me. That series of games is just really fun. Also, looking forward to Dragon Quest 12.
Thanks for the updates; I had never heard of Rain World before! Pokémon Pokopia is definitely relaxing and fun, and there are three sets of DLC connected to Pokopia. That image summary of games is helpful too, and I'm hoping it increases further thanks to new information over the next two days
No news about the Zelda movie was a weird decision.
Ocarina of Time looks absolutely gorgeous! Kokiri Forest has even more of a fairy-like quality than before; Hyrule Field and Castle Town look so much better too. And there's voice acting!
Being able to hum into the controller to play an ocarina song is such a cool idea.
Also: LINK CAN JUMP NOW!
Ocarina of Time releases on November 5th and the trailer (at the end of the Direct) looked fantastic.
The new Zelda Switch 2 console/joycon looks sooo good too. Comes out October 29th.
If I didn't already have a Switch 2, I would've loved to buy that Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition. I actually think I'm going to pick up the Pro Controller that they are releasing at the same time. It looks amazing!
I just pre-ordered a physical copy of OoT on Amazon to keep sealed for my collection of N64-related memorabilia, and I also just pre-ordered the digital version of OoT for the convenience of playing on my Switch 2. Never bought a Switch/2 game twice before, but OoT holds a special place in my childhood.
Today's Nintendo Direct starts in 3 hours, is expected to run for about 45 minutes, and should then be followed by a nearly-two-hour Nintendo Treehouse video featuring a ton of gameplay for the games mentioned in the Direct.
KIRBY AND THE WORLD BEYOND (a new 3D open-world Kirby game!?!?!?!?), the next Metroid, the next Mega Man, the next Fire Emblem, the next Dragon Quest Monsters, Romancing SaGa 3: Destinies United, Eternal Anima, Ondeh Ondeh Kaya's Tasty Tale, and dozens of other popular franchises and updates... that was a great Nintendo Direct. No Mario though!
I am happy for you but the direct was very underwhelming (which is understandable given FE and Zelda are coming) but there is no hype for next year atm
