What did you think it was going to be? It had been advertised as that the entire time, and pretty much every trailer and review has pointed that out. The response to the game has generally been very positive, though that's probably because the players and critics were already aware of what Splatoon Raiders was going for: https://www.metacritic.com/game/splatoon-raiders/

I was expecting it feels like a new game.
It has the same core enemies, and almost same looking stage style. It just feels lazy.
For some games this would have been a big patch instead of a new game.

The big upgrade really is just switch 2 being more powerful and it gets extremely chaotic with the amount of enemies. Game is still fun, but that's because Splatoon is one of a kind

Ah, gotcha. Sounds like you'll look forward to a "true" Splatoon 4 game, whenever it comes out!

S1 released in 2015, S2 in 2017, and S3 in 2022, so I wouldn't be surprised if S4 comes out in 2027 or 2028

Dozens of additional big games are coming out in late 2026 and in 2027, consistently outpacing Nintendo's competitors:

"Nintendo has recently highlighted 33 games that are in active development for its Switch 2 console, with many releasing before the end of the year. The Nintendo Switch 2 is one of the fastet-selling video game consoles of all time, and while the jury is still out on whether it will manage to eclipse its predecessor's lifetime sales or not, there's no denying that it is already a wildly successful console.

If Nintendo keeps supporting the Switch 2 as aggressively as it has been, it's likely that the console's sales will remain strong, even in the face of unfortunate price increases. Nintendo itself releases a major new Switch 2 game nearly every month, and third party partners help pick up the slack at times as well. The result is a never-ending stream of Switch 2 games, including quite a few noteworthy exclusives that can't be played anywhere else.

https://gamerant.com/nintendo-switch-2-games-coming-out-soon-list-2026-2027-exclusives/

From the affordability and convenience to the exclusive games and ever-increasing library, and from the decision to keep physical games to the refusal to engage in the PC/Xbox/PlayStation obsession with graphics over gameplay, it's no wonder that Nintendo's Switch 2 has been looking strong and is positioned very well to continue its success.

The massive list above apparently isn't even all the announced upcoming Switch 2 games, as Wild Blue Skies (a rail-shooter similar to Star Fox) is coming out sometime this fall for just $15! The video below looks very promising.
Chuhai Labs and Balor Games have finally confirmed that the action-shooter Wild Blue Skies is heading to the Switch eShop this Autumn. Heavily inspired by the core Star Fox experience, Wild Blue Skies will launch on PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and Steam on 13th August 2026, but it sounds like the teams need a little more time to get the Switch version out of the door. It will cost $14.99 on all platforms. It looks neat and it's boasting a pretty unique art style, but we do wonder just how many folks will go for this now that the exceptional Star Fox remake is available on Switch 2. Hopefully it'll do well; it looks like it's capturing the spirit of Nintendo's series pretty well.

Considering buying Shredder's revenge to play with my kids (5 & 7).

They are playing FC25, Smash Bros, Mario Kart and Mario Strikers so I assume they are "good enough" to understand how to play that game.

Oh man I've been really disappointed with the Switch 2's releases so far. The only Switch 2 exclusive I've bought is Pokemon Pokopia which was banging, but looking at the list of what's coming up is so pitiful. Where are mainline releases for Zelda, Mario and Pikmin guys. I tried the Mario Kart at my friend's house and it was really strange, you only did one lap of a track and then did this weird off-road thing, I didn't like it so didn't buy it. I'll just have to play Wind Waker on NSO, and the updated version of BOTW or TOTK for now.

Nintendo has been purposely spreading out its biggest franchises so that a few appear each year, as opposed to releasing everything at the same time. I think that's a pretty smart decision.

Pikmin: I haven't heard anything about Pikmin 5 yet, but I think it's pretty cool that all 4 mainline Pikmin games are available on Switch 2: Pikmin, Pikmin 2, Pikmin 3, and Pikmin 4. I'd recommend looking into a game called Tinykin for Switch 2 - it has a very Pikmin-like feel to it, there's a free demo available, and it might be able to hold you over until 2027 or 2028 when we get some news about Pikmin 5.

Zelda: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment is considered a "mainline Zelda game", as it's canon even though it's hack-and-slash and not a traditional action-adventure game. It was a Switch 2 exclusive and came out at the end of 2025. There are also plenty of other remade/remastered Zelda mainline games available for Switch 2 (Link's Awakening, Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time), and some other interesting Zelda options (Echoes of Wisdom, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity). If you're specifically asking for the next new open-world / action-adventure game after the pair of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, then there's no news yet, but I'm confident we'll hear something by 2027, because that's when the Zelda movie is releasing.

Mario: I absolutely love 3-D platformers, so I'm just as excited as you are for the next game that follows Super Mario Odyssey! In the meantime, there are thankfully a ton of other 3-D platformers available on Switch 2; they aren't Mario per se, but I'd definitely recommend any of these: Donkey Kong Bananza, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Yooka-Replaylee, New Super Lucky’s Tale, Duskfade, and A Hat in Time

Nintendo could turn some of the comments in this thread into a brochure for investors in its next quarterly earning report. LOL.

I'd say Splatoon Raiders is the best game on the system so far.

The EA games are getting what I'd call "secondary levels" of support. In today's live service world and the way EA manages its sport titles .. that sucks. More than 2 months after the launch of Madden 26 EA was still working on joy-con recognition for the game. That's bad. The game only lasts 12 months then EA will roll out Madden 27. When anything big goes wrong for any of EA's annualized sports titles on PS5 EA its a prioritized 5 alarm blaze. EA fixes it... stat.

i live in NA, and response to the system has been pretty meh. For Q1 2027 (April to JUne 2026) the Switch2 sold 1.02M units in NA. I thought there would be higher sales because people want to avoid the September price increase. Sony and Microsoft have jacked up their prices while the Switch2 price remains the same. Seems like the time to get a good deal.

Fortunately for Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft are making big mistakes as well. Over all spending on console hardware is way down in the USA. For NA, Video game spending is up slightly... so people are shifting their money away from the traditional big 3 hardware. The money is out there.

Nintendo's stock completely erased its pre-launch "Switch 2 premium" during the first half of 2026, though it has staged a sharp recovery over the last few weeks. The stock is down 4% since January 2025.

We had fun with Shredder's revenge this weekend. Had to pay full price because I did not want to wait for a sale, doesn't matter though because the boys were entertained.

Difficulty level (on easiest) was perfect for them, just smash and dash.

That's great to hear! Easy mode / Story mode difficulty levels are underappreciated and not talked about enough imo.
