btw, i favour a luxury goods // sin tax on video games and video game hardware. Such a luxury//sin tax is enacted through Congress not via the unilateral proclamations of a reality TV star.

Agreed, and tbh all affected parties / businesses / victims of Trump's illegal tariffs should be paid back what Trump stole from them.

I was hoping we would find out how much Nintendo has been charged for all the tariffs.
I recall there was reporting that Nintendo had to SCRAAAMBLE to get all the Vietamese made Switch 2 stateside since that had a less harsher tariff. I see a very faint "FABRIQUE AU VIETNAM" on my switch 2.
Within the first year of the Switch 2's release, I've already ranked 3 games as S-tier: Donkey Kong Bananza, Octopath Traveler 0, and now Pokemon Pokopia. (Several A+, several A, and several A- games too.)
Pokemon Pokopia made my wife craved in and I got her the switch 2 as an early birthday present. She's very into animal crossing, and it's looking like this will have her sinking hundreds of hours in easy.
I think the game is great, but I can't say I like it more than the dragon quest builder 2, which has a little more story/quests/crafting+combat in it.

And an on-time birthday present for you too! Happy birthday
Traditionally, when the Switch 2 plays the Switch 1 library, we of course see improved performance... but the Switch 2 would interpret the older last-gen games in one of two ways:
If the Switch 2 was docked (in TV mode), then it would be building on the Switch 1 docked / TV mode settings. If the Switch 2 was being used undocked / as a handheld, then it would be building on the settings of Switch 1 undocked / handheld mode.
The Switch 1 docked settings are often better than the Switch 1 undocked settings.
With the new Switch 2 patch, even handheld/undocked mode for Switch 2 can start from a foundation of docked/TV mode when playing Switch 1 games, which means even more improved visuals and framerate when playing older last-gen games!

Sadly, I think that rumor was clarified to be part of Toad's backpack instead of part of Fox McCloud's outfit. That being said, the Nintendo equivalent of Avengers would be Super Smash Bros., and that would be amazing! Instead of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we'd have the Nintendo Cinematic Universe

Gotcha.
One of the most surreal things ever regarding Miyamoto, is that he apparently thought it was an odd choice to have DK in the Mario movie. In his mind, the DK and Mario universe is separate.
I'm not sure how but thats so weird to me considering he invented DK and Mario.
I'm thinkin about that as well as to why Pikmin's inclusion. And I know Pikmin isnt like the biggest Nintendo franchise, but was certainly a franchise Miyamoto always seemed to care about. As opposed to Starfox which has been allowed to rot for a decade at a time.

Yeah I miss Star Fox games (especially Star Fox 64, one of the most quotable video games of my childhood. Do a barrel roll!)
A stand-alone Donkey Kong movie is in production and should be released sometime over the next few years, so maybe Miyamoto was okay with introducing DK in the last Mario movie so that they could build off his character / introduce the Kongs (many of whom had split-second cameos in the last movie) and King K. Rool in the upcoming DK movie. I agree with you that it's weird Miyamoto would hesitate to include DK in the first place though, especially if we're casually throwing Pikmin into the second movie!
it is pretty hilarious that teh USA introduces substantial tariffs on Japan and is super hostile towards japan. The result, Canadians and Mexicans pay way more for a Japanese product than Americans. big win for Trump i guess?
This price drop still isn't in the same league as the 3DS though. It went from $250 down to $170 after 5 months.
No. (Post hoc ergo propter hoc.) Good to know that the sale still exists though!
The game is not good. The prices are jacked way up and only 49% of Steam users rank it positively. The negative ranking are related to the game play itself and not the platform. 2K25 had a 79% positive review on Steam and 2K24 was at 83% positive.
I could go into detail about why the game isn't good, but i'll let the thousands of negative reviews speak for themselves. I'm happy playing Fire Pro Wrestling World and Fire Pro Returns. Games that are 6 and 19 years old.

Ah that's unfortunate! Glad you still have your old favorites to fall back on.
