If the new looks make it into the game on stable FPS that is a huge lift. It isn't cutting edge but it also isn't 10+ years behind any more. The new one seems fine for a high budget game releasing this decade. It isn't trying for cutting edge and that is fine.

Indie World showcase tomorrow!

Clearly not content with its barrage of presentations recently, Nintendo has announced that it will be airing an Indie World showcase tomorrow, 3rd March.

As revealed on Nintendo Today!, the showcase will kick off at 2pm GMT, and promises 15 minutes of info on all the indie goodness coming to Switch systems in the coming months. Notably, the Japanese Indie World presentation will be around 25 minutes long.

Here's the precise time that the event will get underway in your region:

North America: 6am PST / 7am MST / 8am CST / 9am EST
UK/Ire: 2pm GMT
Europe: 3pm CET / 4pm EET

Pokopia reviewed VERY well. I don't think its my type of game as I don't have the patience/creativity for those kind of games, but it seems cool that Pokemon has a solid spinoff title. Its been a minute.

Yeah, this game seems to be pretty special. At the time of this posting, out of 60 critic reviews: 58 are positive, 2 are mixed, and 0 are negative: https://www.metacritic.com/game/pokemon-pokopia/

Almost all of the scores range from 8/10 to 10/10, and there are already mentions of it being somewhere on a GotY list. That's crazy impressive. Cozy life-sim games aren't generally my jam, but after watching over 10 hours of content and reading the reviews (and being a fan of Pokemon), I'm very excited to play Pokopia. It releases this Thursday

I finally picked up Hades 2 and I can't possibly review it highly enough. If you liked Hades, I think you'll like Hades 2 even better. They just nailed it as a sequel; it's more of the same, but they switched up the systems just enough to make it feel fresh and exciting. The new characters are great, the returning characters from the original are great, combat is a blast and is sufficiently different from the original to be exciting without feeling unfamiliar. And the art and voice acting and sound production and writing are all fantastic!

I'm excited for Pokopia to come out, too. That's not my style of game, but I have a kid at home recovering from a bad bout of mono who loves Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, and I think she's going to spend a lot of happy hours in Pokopia, too.

Hades and Hades 2 are both phenomenal

They do such a good job of being addictive and convincing you to play *just one more time*.

I think I'd rate today's Indie World Showcase as a 5/10. It was pretty short and nothing totally blew my mind. My Little Puppy and Moonlighter 2 kind of appeal to me, but that's about it. A pretty forgettable IWS imo.

yeah imo these kind of showcases do more harm than they do good... you can lose audiences for good when they want to announce something big

Yeah kind of like crying wolf? I could see that, though Nintendo could always add some hints / teasers / context if there's a big franchise reveal, so that some people don't get tired of "guessing" whether a Showcase/Direct will be a hit or miss. Either way, Indie World Showcases tend to be less popular than traditional first-party Nintendo Directs.

All that being said, there are definitely plenty of personalities who thoroughly enjoyed yesterday's IWS! Here's a much more positive response:

Nintendo just revealed its first acknowledgement of Mario Day 2026 (MARIO Day -> MAR10 -> March 10th), by announcing a few additional Mario games for Nintendo Switch Online. Hopefully, we'll see even more Mario over the next week!

Pokopia is already one of the highest-rated Pokemon games of all time. Not just spin-offs... mainline games too!
