Some of the upcoming Switch 2 games I'm looking forward to, several of which will be out within the next 3 months:
- Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - Octopath Traveler 0 - Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade - Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - Glaciered - Yoshi and the Mysterious Book - The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales - Pokemon Pokopia - Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection - Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave - Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined
Black Friday sales in Walmart Canada allow you to get a Switch2 and $100 Walmart CC for $630CDN. At CostCo you can buy a $100 Nintendo Card for $90. For all the people who think the prices of everything are going up in 2026 this is the last bargain.

Whoa! How does that work, exactly? Is it like a one-per-customer deal? Is there an expiration date? Because otherwise you could just buy a bunch of them if you know you want to eventually spend X hundred (or thousand) dollars on Nintendo stuff, and save ~10% overall!

Buy 19 now, sell 18 of them for 95 at Christmas and you got the left over one for free. Anyway. If you buy it, I'd immediately use it and not let it sit, because Nintendo will likely raise prices again in 2026.

CostCo Canada has your Nintendo purchases attached to your membership card and they limit the # of purchases to 8. Enough to buy the Mario Kart//Switch 2 Bundle.
Walmart's deal you must put on your Walmart Credit Card that has your name on it. They limit the # of Switch2's you can purchase. If someone does not have a Walmart Credit Card they apply for one and get the $100. In Canada, the Walmart Credit Card is considered 7/10 somewhat above average CC. If you shop at Walmart regularly it becomes a 9/10 Card.
So , Sony PS5 had a blanket Black Friday Deal. Nintendo Switch 2 had limited Black Friday deals. Steam Deck had 20% off the lowest level Deck. XBOX had no deal.
EDIT: and DK Bananza is $40 USD in CostCo USA and $50 CDN at CostCo in Canada.

Ah okay, makes sense, thanks! And DKB already being on sale is awesome!
the new Nintendo Prez//leadership seems far more flexible on prices than previous generations. IMO, it is the proper reaction in today's marketplace where prices are all over the place. The % of judicious bargain hunters is rising fast.
It also means Bananza is not selling at the expected levels.

ya, the sales are so good they are cutting the price in half 4 months after release. The trend with software is clear. The better it sells the longer the game remains at full price.

"They" is not Nintendo. Nintendo is still selling DKB for full price on their online shop: https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/donkey-kong-bananza-switch-2/ If a specific store is discounting a game for whatever reason, that's great, but that doesn't mean the game isn't selling well.

Not really. You lower prices at specific times of the year (thanksgiving, christmas) to push even greater sales
Our 5 year old loves dancing and singing. We are buying some kind of gaming console that has a sensor style dancing game and a singing game. The switch has several of those games it seems but it doesn't have a dedicated sensor, you have to use your phone. Seems like that could kind of suck?
Have anyone tried something like Just dance! for switch or should I buy an Xbox or PS instead?
The adults have no real interest in playing games on the console except for perhaps some Mario kart or something. So buying a next gen console feels a little wasted at this point.

For games like Just Dance, players use the sensors in the Nintendo joy-cons (handheld/fastened controller parts), not your phone. They work pretty well in that respect - I've played those Switch games and they get the job done imo. I thought those games were fun to play, and the sensors worked fine for me!
Here's some additional information on Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (development, plot, and gameplay). "Quality mode" is 4K resolution at 60 fps; "performance mode" is 1080p resolution at 120 fps. $70 on Switch 2; $60 on Switch 1 (and an optional $10 upgrade pack from Switch 1 to Switch 2). MP4B releases this Thursday, just like Octopath Traveler 0.
If you choose the standard "Nintendo Switch 2 System" option (just the console/hardware, no games), the cost is $449 as expected. If you choose the "Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle" option (hardware + MKW) the cost is still $449, instead of the usual $499. Amazon confirms that this is not a mistake, citing the 10% discount and writing "This bundle includes a system and a full GAME DOWNLOAD for the Mario Kart World game, exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. Limited quantities. While supplies last."
$50 for MKW was already a good deal imo (still a solid game, despite its flaws), but if anyone wants a free MKW and is planning on buying the Switch 2 for this holiday season, right now might be the best time to pull the trigger.
No idea how long this discount will be available for, or if other non-Amazon sites/stores are offering this insane sale.
Edit: At 4:15 PM Eastern time, the "free MKW" discount has disappeared. All sold out. Price is back to the usual $499 for the MKW bundle (MKW for $50, when buying a Switch 2). Not sure how long the MKW-for-$0 sale was available for.
Second Edit: More context - "This bundle deal is currently available at Amazon, Walmart, Target and Best Buy for $449 instead of the usual $499, so you're saving $50. This is the first time the bundle has been on sale in this location and gives you access to the new entry in the Mario Kart series at no extra cost (instead of having to fork out extra)." https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2025/12/switch-2s-mario-kart-world-bundle-gets-a-surprise-sale-us
Personally, I've been alternating between new games and old games. Kirby Air Riders was amazing, and now I've moved on to FF5 (from the Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster Bundle) which has been in my backlog for a while. Also very fun, especially with the quality-of-life improvements on the Switch 1 and 2. I'm almost done with FF5, and then I'll move on to MP4B before OT0, since MP4B is a shorter game and because I want to keep alternating between 3D and 2D graphics.
The MK//Switch2 Bundle is $450 in many big retailers in the USA including Amazon.com. With massive mainstream Canadian retailers Walmart and CostCo offering $100 CDN deals you knew the USA would be getting some deal soon.
For context, in English Canada Walmart is the size of Target and Walmart combined. The store quality is slightly worse than a Target in the USA. So, in English Canada, Walmart has a lot of control.
Nintendo has backed off by 10% to 17% in France and the UK. Now, in NA it is 10% to 17% lower. Apparently, the prices in Germany are also down 10% but I have not bothered to look.
Clearly, the consoles ain't moving at expected levels and places like Walmart, Amazon and Best Buy do not donate store/warehouse space for charitable purposes.
I think this is part weakness in demand and part "maximum flexibility" on the part of the new NIntendo leadership. They got 5th degree Taylor series polynomials tracking optimum profits LOL. In today's chaotic world of constant tariff threats Nintendo's leadership attitude of maximum flexibility is important to have.
The Switch2/MK Bundle is still $450 USD on Amazon.com. So its not a Black Monday or a Cyber Friday or whatever. its just a price drop. Nintendo has not dropped a console price this fast in many years. And, its not one retailer. It is every major retailer with no official announcement from Nintendo. Nintendo is getting jobbed out at the Monday Night RAW before Wrestlemania. LOL.
The prices are down in Canada, USA, France, UK... I wonder how many other countries have price drops. To me, it was always a bad sign for me to see Switch2's every where. Nintendo expected to sell a lot more.
