Wow. Firaxis are dead serious about their mod support for xcom2

When a mod is that popular and there is mod support for the next game, why not just drop a couple bucks to the mod team to make a new version. It is marketing brilliance, honestly. Interested to see how they adapt it since the "time system" is different and more active in Xcom 2.

I expect they got compensated for their time ^^ Maybe Firaxis produces their next game as a result of them making a LW mod for Xcom 2 ![]()

Contract the team to produce a popular mod for your new game. See if they can ship(Devs have said previously that biggest problem modders have it working with a deadline) in a reasonable time and are good to work with. If they do well, maybe they help them publish the game the modders are working on. Everyone wins, from fans to the modders. Plus its cool to see modders getting rewarded for their work.

Its good to look into for sure. But some modders might not make good contract employees or hires.

Just a bunch of different kind of mods by the time Xcom 2 releases. So, no reason to get my hopes up.

It's obviously not going to be on the scale of the current long war mod. Nobody is expecting that at all, but knowing the people involved it will keep going after launch.

The have previously said they don't want to work on a Long war mod and want to work on something of their own. Its likely they are only doing this because Farexis is paying them to show off the mod engine. I would not count on them doing much in modding after release.
