Not worth 19$ per se, but if you want to pre-order like me, it's not really a bad deal. do you have a source on that or are you just wishing?

I played both the vanilla XCOM and Enemy Unkown with a full squad of "normies" 2 snipers, 2 supports, 1 heavy 1 assault. I made a MECH soldier for the achievement, but I quickly benched him and put in a normal one in his place. I really didn't see any advantages to him, even on highest difficulty.
I know an extra class sounds like hype, but depending on how early they'll be available will determine its worthiness. I know pshychic soldiers and MECHs were supposed to come rather late but at that point you most certainly had lazers (pistols, assaults maybe even snipers), carapace armor, maybe even on your way to plasma, and ... what's the point of respecing a good solid soldier into one of the new classes where you pretty much had good equipment for him? If they would've been a choice between them and say lazers that would make the playthroughs more nuanced I feel.

MEC soldiers were chopped because of low will which is a huge problem in Classic and Impossible.

Game is SUPER FUN , which for me is the best selling point , easily getting my money after the amount of fun i had playing the first game.

I remember him more for 40-45ish shot accuracy while sticking base to base with a thin man. At this point I was NOT interested in training this burden any further. I mean I even took him into the alien base for shits and giggles but him hitting anything was bordering on a miracle, even fully upgraded with best MEC exosuit (mk. III Paladin) and that experimental particle cannon I got him. Maybe psychic was the better upgrade, I dunno. Maybe I'll replay the whole game again before XCOM 2 comes out and this time go for psychic upgrades.

MEC soldiers work off the aim stat like every single other soldier in the game, how is that a thing against MEC's? Gear doesn't improve his chance to hit, same as every other soldier in the game (aside from the +hit on light plasma)
Flamethrower aoe dmg + panic, Punch is guaranteed high damage early in the game, grenade is great for clearing cover (like the soldier grenade), Restorative mist is amazing. Highest weapon damage at all stages, improved overwatch fire, reactive fire, turns into total cover, double shots a turn and very high hitpoints so they can take some shots and not be wounded (tho they take more dmg from no cover).
My standard classic team always has 2 MEC's in it and i'm always happy with their performance.

Didn't MEC soldiers get demoted back to rookies upon completing their training and getting their stats(aim/will) rolled back to shit tier? I played with Not Created Equally and Hidden Potential, maybe that influenced him a bit more than it should've.

Could be you just got unluck on your random stats

MECs also had different stats depending on their base class and rank. While the stat growth for aim and will was kind of poor a colonel sniper promoted to mectrooper just wrecked things. And they did retain their rank so that wasn't a problem. I promoted a heavy or assault unit early (can't remember which one) and a late sniper and my mecs did most of the work.

Support MECs are very useful early game, but sniper MECs are just the best mid/lategame for the most part.

The class matters for the base ability, experience skills are locked and yes I prefer support aswell, the defense aura is really nice.
