Any idea why my settlement is not gaining any new settlers? I have 30 water, 24 food, over 50 defense, tons of beds and only 8 people for a while now. Are these the only factors involved or should i build cool furniture and fences etc.

There is a cap with your charisma figured in (but 8 is definitely below the cap so that isn't the issue). I believe you can send workers from other settlements to any other one, so if you have a main settlement and don't really focus too much on the other ones you can move them around. I've not played too much because the no bed bug in sancutary when I was not in the town drove happiness down and nothing I could do to stop it, though that issue may now be resolved.
Also, that HTML thing is neat, gonna have to see what exactly can be done with it

Such a huge disappointment. Whole game feels sluggish and something is wrong with fps/looking around. The difference is night and day when I open new vegas and it works smoothly.
I guess there isn't much you can do after editing all .ini files.

I tried it, that driver sucks.
Massive stuttering and fps drops
My 270x can hold 60fps most of the time (except diamond city but that seems to be a common problem) with a mix of medium/high settings, a few drops to 50 or so but no that common.

Settler count is based on a 10+1 formula so max you should be able to get is 21 per. You have to place radio beacons at other settlements to increase the radius, then you move those settlers to your main hub and repeat over for the next. It's fairly quick and honestly the settler limit is too small considering the size of some of these settlement areas.

I believe you should be able to go higher than 21. This https://i.imgur.com/DhdcfyN.png image shows you need at least 30 to upgrade your shops from lv 3 to level 4.

read the top, it says any settlements connected by supply lines to the target count towards the minimum population. so 5 settlements with 6 settlers each connected to say... Sanctuary... let's you get 30 minimum population in Sanctuary.
edit: actually, from my understanding you don't need all lines to go to sanctuary, just daisy chaining your settlements should be fine

Game is a lot of fun but Bethesda really needs to work on a new engine. Feels really dated and holds the game back alot. Seeing the same bugs that existed way back in Fallout 3 is pretty unacceptable.
Oh and the dialogue system can die in a fire.

Haha nice! inb4 Javascript injects.

Played this ~20 hours and gameplay is pretty fun. My current build is pretty random because i didn't have any idea how useful defensive perks like life giver or toughness would be. I took 1 point from rad resist, toughness and life giver and compared to defense from armor, they are already useless. Most useful perks pointwise were weapon and armor crafting/modding. I am using rifles without any vats.
I was using 4 different weapons early in the game(pipe rifle, shotgun, righteous fury and hunting rifle) because ammo was scarce. I just found a combat rifle and noticed i have around 1000 ammo for it. After some modding it became really powerful and i am liking the fps gameplay. My current weapons are a rifle for mid range, combat shotgun for close range and a sniper for long range, all heavily modded. Also using grenades and molotov cocktails frequently.
I was trying to help every single settlement to move all around to map to discover new places but "i have a different thing for you this time" crap from Garvey seems like it is endless so i might delve into the main quest soon

Speaking of Preston, I've heard that he stops being available as a companion after Taking Independence, is this true or is it a bug some people have experienced? I want to get something in his inventory but he won't let me trade with him, only asks me if I think we're ready to retake the Castle. In the mean time I just used the console to add what I'm trying to get into my inventory because I can't be bothered to grapple with what seems like a bug right now.
Also holy crap, why did this little girl give me a fusion core for finding her cat? Why did I need to scavenge these things for this vault if they're so common that little children can just hand them out like candy? Heh.

Have ~50 hours clocked and have enjoyed the game thus far. Played through like a VATS spamming noob using pretty much only pistols. Found a heavily modified pipe pistol early in the game with an effect which freezes on critical hits, was great. Now that I've finished the main story and my pistols kill pretty much everything with ease, I've started using melee weapons. Still use guns for the larger things like Behemoths and Deathclaws, but I'm having lots of fun right now running around with melee weapons.
I'm not really into the whole modding thing so I assume I'll get bored of the side quests in a short amount of time. Regardless I feel I've got my moneys worth out of the game and might look into running it in survival mode in the future.

Finding iconic weapons like minigun, missile launcher or even a fat man doesn't mean anything anymore The good part is, i read that you only need to give 1 ammo to settlers for them to use a weapon infinitely(except missiles and mini nukes). I might start giving miniguns to everyone in sanctuary.

What are the tiers for the weapons and armor? I wasn't able to find much the last time I tried to look it up. Are combat rifle/shotgun/sniper rifle the best 'standard' weapons and synth armor the best armor? I just now got synth armor from finally starting to progress through the main story a bit, but at this point I'm running into all the same weapons.
edit: Guess I pretty much have the best weapons I can get then. That's kind of a bummer . Aside from unique weapons and legendary ones I've not got much more to get. =[

Still looking for a set of X-01 power armor

For those interested: the quest "the big dig" can get you the following: -Power armor -fusion core -minigun with flaming bullets (ashbringer) -legendary drop, tommy gun with explosive bullets in my case
pretty good for a 30 min quest if you ask me. I remember there was a guy here asking where to get a legendary minigun so there you go.
