I made a new game, played up to sanctuary, laid down some purifiers. Each of them procced exactly once. I added 2 more, they both procced once, then never after that. Really pissed me off, the whole settlement economy system simply doesn't work in my games, so there's little point to the settlements now. Bethesda games...I wish unofficial patches are coming soon.

My main save will not store anything but a few flares every time the settlement updates. Removing, adding, moving things that should produce things makes no matter. I waited 10 ingame days in the settlement, nada. I fast traveled to diamon city and waited 10 days there, fast traveled back..nothing. Will probably take a while. Modders still aren't 100% sure of the file format changes and Bestheda hasn't released any tools.

+ Show Spoiler + So you go into Diamond City to hire Nick to help you, only you have to save his ass first. Now, so far everything I've seen is that everyone is super fucking paranoid about synths, there was even an event in Diamond City where a guy is threatening to shoot his brother who he thinks is a synth. And then you rescue "Nick". And he just walks around the strees in the open. His secretary doesn't seem phased either. I wanted to chat the woman up to see what she thinks about it, but it seems it's not an option. Like what the hell? Immersion break anyone?

That was a huge "wtf" for me too, + Show Spoiler + i only finished the quest to get him earlier and the whole time i was thinking "wtf, is that guy a synth, i thought everyone was shit scared of those"

Its the undercover synths that scare the bejesus out of folk. Talk to guards etc a bit. Its kinda funny tbh.

Is he useless as a companion now or is this issue solvable? Anyone know? That happened to me too, but he sometimes switches back to his usual weapon. I think it's just the AI being strange.

On a related note, if I give my settlers weapons, do I have to keep them consistently supplied with ammo?

From my experience if you give a follower a Gauss gun, only time it doesn't use it is when it doesn't have ammo. Takes a small amount of time before it switches over.

I don't know how much actions affect other people yet, as I have only just gotten to Lexington on my way to diamond city, but the combat is pretty fun and fairly tactical. The mirelurks in particular are extremely well designed. Normally I like to fight them with a sledgehammer, and they are very smart. For example, if you pull out a gun from a safe spot, they run away (sensing the danger and knowing they can't hit you). Maybe a little too intelligent, but still good AI ![]() The molerats are also very well designed. They can burrow underground and pop up in many different places, surprising you. Some of them even have some sort of evolutionary mode where they will suicide next to you and explode like a baneling. Its also nice to know that headshots deal more damage, and sneak criticals exist. So the whole aspect of finding new weapons, or crafting better ones, is pretty rewarding and there are a lot of interesting articles of clothing you can wear to improve your stats. Also I've come across dozens of varied locations; there is *NO* repetition at all on the scale of Fallout 3's billions of identical metro tunnels. All of the locations thus far have their own flavour and interesting parts to explore. This in and of itself makes it a pretty solid RPG and I am looking forward to playing more after I finished my school work

Does it really produce caps and will I be able to buy guns/armor there myself? Also, how do you attract more people? I have 11 currently at Sanctuary.
