There are also a lot of factors that the game simply can't be blamed for, this is not Batman Arkham knight which was a total failure. i run the game on windows 8.1 with an fx8350 CPU / GTX970 GPU. updating my nvidia drivers to accommodate the game was a big mistake. The latest video drivers for new games is almost always glitch / problematic.

This will be among the first things I mod in FO4. Along with a "salvage all junk" in inventory screen button.

Picking up anything/junk/other setting in the open within 2m or so. Instead of clicking on all of it and finding the right viewing angle to actually select it. Should probably exclude unique items since part of the game is finding those. Also loot all option.

But felt really bad to scrap a whole town for screws and glue and build a nice close combat weapon ... just to find it 10 minutes later.

The Elder Scrolls series is particularly well known for its awful UIs, and Fallout 3/NV/4 aren't much better.

Oh I'll just download this, hmm this looks nice, maybe this as well... 500 mods later I'm not sure if it's even fallout or skyrim anymore. Now's the right time to use a mod though. There's not many out there, even less so mods that are actually worth using (pink pipboy? oO). So you can't slip there. ^^ I'm not using it because simply i'm fine with the difficulty. Later on with decent weapons it's a nonissue anyway.

If you use all the functions properly (rename the gear you use, use sorting and tabs, assign quick slots), it really isn't bad at all.

It's not perfect, but it's basically 50% design decision (keeping it themed to pipboy tabs etc) and 50% the fact that you often end up with like 100 items on you which no matter what kind of UI you use will still be somewhat difficult to navigate. If you use all the functions properly (rename the gear you use, use sorting and tabs, assign quick slots), it really isn't bad at all. I love the game, but that point is still valid. There's more to the UI than the inventory - hold V to enter build mode? Buttons "hardcoded"? Hold V, then press space to assign power lines (or Q for supply lines)? Nah. It's plain bad. And it was plain bad in Skyrim, too. It's just something Bethesda can NOT do, properly.

some Skyrim/NV UI mods are so great, they are so much better than what bethesda does its not even funny, one might think they could get a look or 2 at those mods

Try generic Skyrim UI and a mod I couldnt remember, the difference is cannot be described as an improvement rather re-inventing how items should be sorted and arranged.

The weirdest part is that the Morrowind UI worked perfectly fine on both console and PC and as far as I can tell there's absolutely no reason the later UIs are better than it.
