Paladin Danse is incredibly flat though, in terms of character. He literally bored me to death, rather run around with Codsworth, + Show Spoiler +.
And yeah, stuff gets stuck alot. + Show Spoiler +in the Vertibird Mission off of the airship you have to kill one of these super-super mutated mutants, house sized. I killed one on foot without power armor after he got stuck between a bridge and a bridge-pylon.
I actually play the whole game without power armor, i got 6 already, standing neatly in a row in my base, including 28 fusion cores. I refuse to play with them, because, i dunno. Feels wrong to get these so early. Odd designchoice, which i really dislike.

Witcher 3 might have ruined average RPGs for me..... And can we stop with higher difficulty=enemys have absurdly high hp, and can take multiple headshots. Totaly ruins the immersion. Cant we adjust difficulty by having more and smarter enemys? There's literally !@#$%^&* to pick up where ever you look, hidden spaces that tell a story without telling a story (skeleton in a bathtub, 10mm gun and day breaker next to him) - how is this emptier than any other Fallout? And about that difficulty thing, .. lol. How many games are there which change AI based on difficulty? I'd go out on a limb and say zero. None. And no, RTS/RBS don't count. For a reason btw. But what i actually love most about that statement is, that over the course of the game you get hit by at least 500 bullets, which you all heal away by sticking a needle in your arm. That doesn't seem to be a problem for your immersion? But fear not. There will be mods very soon, that set your HP to a very low value. Then you can play on easy, where enemies die in one or two hits - and you will too.
Fillig the world with stuff to pick up doesnt fill it in the sence to make if feel alive, just filled with junk. Especiall when the dialogue is sooo dry. I also didnt say other games make it better, just that it does annoy me. And for have more health yourself, yes. Thats a problem to. But thanks for making another point to support me.
I dont even say its a bad game, I just hoped they would try to improve on their game, not just make Fallout 3.1..

That should keep my power armor running for a while. Cores or cells (i think)? One is ammo for energy weapon, while core is for power armor. I've been focusing on crafting things. Modding guns and building defenses etc. Spent my last perk into armorer but that seems dumb because I have no armor that I can mod :/.
Cores. Went from having 1 backup core in my inventory for hours into suddenly 16. Some badass enemy had one, a loot container next to it had 2, then a location I was exploring had a generator with 1 and a loot container with 4! and so on. Before I knew it, 16 cores, aww yea.

I'm fairly sure it has been discussed somewhere in here, but how's the AI?
I've seen reviews saying it's dull and limited and then again reviews also claiming it's better than expected and very much sufficient. I guess those two don't rule out each other completely, but it still seems like people are playing two different games when talking about AI.
For example does the AI actually flank and use cover properly as claimed by some reviews? Also, how different are the AI routines for different kind of characters and enemies you come across?
|
In my experience, the AI is still confounded by stealth, but it is far more competent in a straight up fight. It makes a lot more use of cover and flanking attacks, and animals exhibit interesting pack behavior. Mole Rats and such are actually quite interesting to fight because of the way they burrow and pop up from the ground all around you, even if they're not much of a threat.

On November 12 2015 02:12 AngryMag wrote: Dear god, do you compare your favorite movie with every movie you watch after that? Well movie critics have jobs precisely to criticize film down to the minutiae. They're far more critical than the average viewer and that harshly critical opinion has value to people. When someone's schedule means they can only play one 80+ hour RPG a year, and there are like 5 or more classic greats that they have yet to play, then yes, a new release has to compare to that top 5 to be able to be worth playing for them. This doesn't apply to everyone, but there are plenty of people who don't have enough gaming time in their lives to play an 80-hour game that they'd only consider "pretty good" or "above average". That's the unfortunate consequence of a genre where the expected gameplay is a complete 50+ hour experience. And this is perfectly fine, the game is still far above average and pretty good. One could say "pretty good, but I just want to play even better games" or something like that. It's shit just doesn't cut it no matter how you slice it. + Show Spoiler +
Okay, that was very asshole-ish but the point remains. But I don't know, man. People (even to this day) say that about Fallout 3 for instance, a game I wouldn't say it's all that hard at all to pick apart just about every single part of. Bethesda has like a get out of jail free card when it comes to making games that can best be described as a mess, though this mainly applies to Oblivion and Fallout 3 more so than it does Skyrim and for all I know Fallout 4. I just don't know why you're so aggressively trying to force your opinion as fact. "Unless you say it's at least this good you're full of shit" is basically what your posts boil down to. Does the concept of someone playing the game and thinking it's, god forbid, actually bad seem that alien to you? Yes, what, I think, Plansix said earlier about people being very quick on the hyperbole when it comes to videogames is absolutely true. But some probably do genuinely feel that way, and I doubt you'll ever be able to do anything about this fact.
Ultimately, I think you'd be a much happier person if you just focused on enjoying it yourself instead of butting heads with people who don't!

To me the AI seems better than in FO3 (never played NV). That of course is limited to enemy AI, friendly AI is still dumb as all fuck. It feels like raiders tend to immediately go for cover and are not as easy to sneak up on (might be the AI or just might be survival difficulty penalty I dunno). Even ghouls run and hide when I try to snipe them with my sniper rifle if they can't find pathing to me. Also ghouls do feel like you're in a Left 4 Dead or any kind of zombie movie. They swarm you out of nowhere and their erratic attack animations make it pretty hard to just gun them down without VATS.
Edit: also the molotov and nade spam is real. Makes you move from your corner quite often. This again, might just be survival difficulty not just AI.

Well im playing the game, its pretty decent so far
but im the only one annoyed that bethesda its using the same songs as FO3 ? i mean, in theory the bombs did drop on the same day, but come on....
althou i do like the congo song lmao

Tried the game but getting the power armor that early ruined it for me... Also the dialogue choices destroy any feeling that I am actually choosing my own path. Glad I tried it before buying.

You need fusion cores to power your armor and I havent found any with 10hrs played. My armor ran outta juice before I even made it to sanctuary, so I had to park it in my shed. I agree about the dialogue though, its a step backwards.

Sitting on survival difficulty, i have now roughly 30 cores flying around, including now 8 power armors. Partially because i don't use my armors, but there's way too many cores etc around.
He's right. They were WAY too generous with that, especially if you consider what a Power Armor was in the previous games.

Well
a mod will fix that lol

Nade usage goes WAY up on survival compared to normal. On normal they hardly use them.

Rocket 69, Rocket 69, Rocket 69....
Also there's a pretty great sidequest involving the two Russian guys running the inn and the DJ of Diamond city.

I coudn't resist and bought the game. Playing on survival and it is freaking survival. Even had to pick to perks that gave me more ammo from loot.
Finished the first main quest "boss". The dungeon to get to him cost me all my mines and granates. I like the game so far but it's not an offering. It's mostly and rpg-shooter.
BTW: can someone pm or spoiler me a location for a nice looking armor? Still running around in metal gear at level 15 :/.

yeah this game is bad ROFL

I can only squeeze in like 2 to 3 hours of playing in a day due to work so I'm only about 9 hours in. Every day so far I started off with an hour or 2 of home deco. Got a nice little shack on top of the garage's roof. Taking my sweet time. Yesterday I was just happy to be able to get together some kind of shelter for me and Dogmeat to hide from one of those fallout storms.
The game may not be perfect but unlike the other Fallout games I have played this one gives me the best me against the world feel. Pretty sweet.
But yeah I have to agree about the dialog. It's nice and finetuned but I'm not sure that fits with these kind of deep immersion games..

I was thinking about getting this game but so far seems very similar to Fallout 3 (not a bad thing in some ways). I really would have liked to see them try and add a multiplayer element- open worlds feel so empty with just AI no matter how many quests you cram into them.
Would like the base building/raiding/looting experience from rust with the quests and NPC's (with better AI) that are in fallout.
|
Base building in Fallout is alot better than it is in Rust though. At least from the last time i played (like 5 months after the penis update).
I also don't think that Fallout would work in multiplayer.
