The units look like generic RTS units and even Goo looks standard "odd one out of three" race. The aesthetics also look like generic sci-fi. I really doubt it has an interesting storyline (I don't remember one since WC3 in RTS). I'm totally not going to play multiplayer. Is campaign fun enough to justify playing it?
SP campaign is pretty bad and short, especially for 50$. Skirmish AI is bad and MP is dead with lack of players.
At the moment the game is worth about 10$. And it will still not run good enough on most computers.

Let's hope they can actually manage to get out of the hole they dug for themselves with a terrible release.
With the release of AoA any C&C fans are going to migrate there. I don't see how GG can bounce back.
AoA and cnc have absolutely nothing in common. That game looks so boring, damn... maybe for a few generals fans, I could see that I guess.
Lotv has more appeal to cnc fans even... with the eco changes and adding of the cnc like units (lol).
Any way, Grey Goo has an event this weekend on the ptb server (to test new features). Hopefully it will gain some activity. The game is quite fun to play I'd say.

General fans are biggest C&C fans as Generals is most selling C&C game.

If that's even possible now with all these players who cry about balance whenever they lose, see that in Grey Goo as well.
Ps I don't blame Blizzard for this, it's obviously working for them. Just saying the fun/crazy part of rts has gotten lost in this e-sports era.
true, and to add to your point about Blizzard needing competition... it seems like most of the Blizzard RTS team consists of guys from their best competition... .CoH1 and C&C especially.
competition between publishers also gives the employees on those teams more power with their employers and more creative license.

Yea, this was my biggest complaint as well, if they sped the game up and had a better launch / marketing / less $ for the game, it would of done a lot better I think.
If they're ever going to put it on sale, it will be when they finish this round of beta testing. They don't talk much about sales, but they mentioned once (and only once) that a sale would come when replay/obs is finished. So if it's coming, it's coming pretty soon.
In my eyes, they just straight up don't look interesting, Starcraft or not. I enjoy games in the C&C style as an alternative to Starcraft's Blizzard style, but other than that it's hard to find high quality RTS titles.
No real oldschool style rts games in the list but still some interesting stuff. Looking forward to Satellite Reign, Project Phoenix and War for the Overworld. The new heroes is interesting too but i hate Uplay...
Yea, I think there needs to be a kick starter started to save grey goo, because it is the best RTS we have aside from StarCraft I think ...the internet can save Grey Goo if we try~
