For players looking to engage in PvP combat on an epic scale, Warlords of Draenor introduces a new world PvP zone off of the north east coast of Tanaan Jungle. This new experience involves a raging battle that has no distinct beginning or end—instead, it offers constantly evolving objectives for participants to take part in. There will be items to gather, creatures to summon, and tons of action on multiple levels. While you can enter the fray sooner than level 100, you may find yourself biting off more than you can chew—enter at your own risk!
When first joining the battle, you’ll be presented with objectives based on the current status of the battle. The closer you get to your opponent’s base, the more difficult your tasks will become. Objectives will change at a moment’s notice based on events within the zone, and you may quickly find yourself switching from offense to rebuilding your fortress and gathering the materials needed to do so. There will also be faction-based vehicles—and some Iron Horde war machines—at your team’s disposal.
To provide a truly epic world PvP experience, the number of players and the amount of faction members allowed in the zone won’t be capped. Don’t worry, though—with cross-realm technology, the pool of potential allies (and enemies) is wider than ever. http://blue.mmo-champion.com/topic/279312-warlords-of-draenor-a-look-at-pvp/
"PvP zones" don't count. They are either as pathetic as the pvp events in BC, or the kind of scripted shit like in Wrath or Cata, where people only come to PvP to do the daily quests.
If Blizzard really cared about world pvp (Southshore vs. Tarren Mill style), they would give bigger incentives for killing people of the opposing faction. The reason SS vs. TM happened was because there weren't any battlegrounds, but honor was a thing. It sucked if you were trying to level through Hillsbrad at the time, but it was hilariously awesome otherwise.
Now, if what you want is honor, BGs are far easier and quicker to get honor than try to set up a world fight. People fight out in the world to finish their daily quests (unless that got changed in MoP, haven't played it). The only way to get people back into a spontaneous epic brawl is to design a zone for it, with rewards that can only be gotten through a brawl. There was a time when AV was like that, but it is instanced, and thus not world pvp.
The nearest you get is when a faction decides to kill the opposing faction leaders, but because there are no repercussions at all for losing a leader, nobody cares to defend.

what the hell does a tank need now? just hp and armor? The tanking model these days has tanks interested in dps stats like Haste, Crit and Mastery. It's all part of the active mitigation model, instead of hitting the 102% combat table cap. One example is the brewmasters' autoattack crits generating charges of a buff called "Elusive Brew", which can be consumed to increase dodge by 20% for a proportional amount of time. Yeah. DKs and warriors pretty much go pure mastery, brewmasters go haste/crit, tankadins go pure haste. Not a lot will change in that regard.

I have to say, with every new blizzard game the lore for the given franchise gets more and more ridiculous. I don't know how can they even come up with this stuff.

the only reason there was world pvp back in Vanilla was two things, one was because either your alt or friend was getting ganked in Hillsbrad and he brought all his friends or guildies so the other faction did the same. Or two guilds fighting over world bosses.

My first reaction was flash of anger when i saw that, but after a few seconds - a lot of people like me didn't play through MOP. I don't agree with it from the standpoint of a guy who hasn't played through most content before, but looking at those with an 85 character - or who played MOP and have a 90 or two, but might want to enter the next expansion with another class - i don't agree with it, but i might like it regardless as they're making it very hard to have an excuse not to be there on launch night.

Yeah, but guildmates joined because it was fun, you got honor for it (although if I recall there wasn't actually anything you could do with honor except accumulate it), and there wasn't really any alternative (assuming you wanted to pvp).
Now there are 100s of alternatives. It's not as easy to make world pvp something other than "yet another daily quest to grind out", where you actually try to avoid pvp as much as possible, because it comes with a high risk of dying, and thus is bad optimization if you're trying to grind out a quest (unless the quest is to get 10 HKs).
There should be some separate incentive. It can be anything from some kind of mount that you can only get from HKs in a specific zone/area (one that doesn't involve making a leveling zone completely horrid).

I think the problem they have with this new zone is it's way out of the way. It needs to be right in the center of things, put it where people generally pass through in a main crossroads.

Lol thats pretty sweet. I was just about to mention the cross realm thing but then you put it at the end. My server is 99% Horde, was going be easy mode for us, then i released it's cross realm. OH BOY OH BOY xD

I never quite understood why world pvp = TM vs SS. Yeah I did some of those battles at vanilla release, cant remember if those were there in the beta or not. But my view on world pvp was running around landscapes meeting other people looking to fight it out. Just the little tension of running on a road meeting a player from the other faction added much to the game for me.
These "pvp"-zones I don't care much for since they are basically the TM vs SS pointless zerg.

Something like the fights over Azuregos in Azshara back in vanilla is something I really wish they would recreate in some way.

These "pvp"-zones I don't care much for since they are basically the TM vs SS pointless zerg. But that hasn't changed at all. When you're out farming, or mining, or whatever (alone), if the opposing faction comes along there's always the "will they gank me?"
I've been on both ends of that, btw. Where I get pissed off by people farming "my" elementals and I start a fight, or other people get pissed at me farming "their" elementals (substitute any other thing for elemental). This happened all the way through Cata, so presumably still happens in MoP.
Similarly, if I'm in something like Stranglethorn and a level 30 of the opposing faction thinks he can run past me without fear, he will get instagibbed (of course, with flying mounts this never happens anymore). I won't camp him, but show some healthy fear!

I just feel it's been reduced too much from what it used to be. And so does the devs, that's why they say stuff like they should probably not have introduced flying mounts now that they know the effect it had on world pvp.

What if Grom ended up killing Garrosh?
Just imagine it. The son who aspired to be like his father. Who prided himself that he was Groms son and that he wanted to achieve something far greater then what he did. Trying to remove himself from the shadows of Grom.
Only to be struck down by his father because he does not approve of his honorless ways. We're talking about Grom "murders children and laughs about it" Hellscream. I don't think he'd disapprove of a WMD; if anything he'd probably praise Garrosh for it. I dunno, Grom was prideful and i believe he talked the other chiefs(chieftans?) into drinking Mannoroths blood because he believed it would help the orcs instead of damn them

the item squish is kinda annoying, the 300k burst dps I can do is a pretty huge confidence boost - "hey, you're playing your class and doing your opening right, keep it up and remember boss mechanics and you'll be fine"
The removal of hit/exp/reforging/etc feels like unnecessary dumbing down of the game, I don't see the problem with wanting to optimise your gear.
Everything else is cool except for the storyline, fuck WoD's storyline

Dumbing down? It's all so unnecessarily stupid and simply serves to create a nonskill related barrier to entry. "Oh it's totally skill when you have to create mathematic formulas outside the game to understand how to stat." No, it isn't. Skill is actually playing your character well.

2) Hit/expertise was garbage. It just meant I couldn't equip an item i got until i reforged because I need to hit arbitrary number x without going over it.
3) There was damn little optimizing about reforge. It just meant you needed to click your reforge addon which auto calculates what you need to reforge into what.

should make like a list of people on TL who are actually going to get the game and play

It's been awhile, but I might come back to this. No matter WoWs problems, it's still the best MMO I've played.
