eh wait and see, realistically speaking its probably gonna be like what 5% or less of the palyerbase that will actually acquire 695 gear in the first tier

It wouldn't matter if 2 people acquired it, because the next tier will follow the same pattern, and 130+ ilvl jumps across two tiers is retarded.

I like the huge ilvl jump between raid tiers. Feels like a built in attunement/gate mechanic which I think is good.

Well, if you take t10 for example, the entry level raiding gear/stuff you got from 5 mans was 232, while the highest was 277. That's a 19% increase in item level.

Going from 630 to 695, it's 10%. Jumping lots of item levels is fine when the item level itself is so high. Going from 630 to 655 for example isn't nearly as big of a deal as going from 232 to 251.

I think they won't have to squish stuff so soon because with the removal of reforge you do not get to stack your favourite stat to insane levels like now.

Are they really making raids 20 man only?
or going back to the 25 man raids to get good gear? while 10 mans get shit

i've heard both

Mythic (hardest difficulty) will be 20 only. Every other difficulty works like flex does right now, so you can bring however many people you want.

The hardest difficulty will be 20 man only. (mythic)
The easiest difficulty will be 25 man (LFR)
everything else will be 10 to 30 scaling (Normal/Heroic)
It ignores such insignificant forces as time, entropy, and death

Thats not how the ilvl increases your stats though, it scales up logarithmically, something like 50% extra every 14 ilvl iirc

The 50% every 14 ilvl is something I've read somewhere, I can link you the formula for a few trinkets or pieces of gear if you'd like? Or you can just open up an item on wowhead and see the amount of stats per ilvl increases as the ilvl gets higher.

Here is the procs per minute formula for black blood [formula = 1/(1.15^((553-ItemLevel)/15]

http://www.wowhead.com/item=99424

If you look at this piece of gear for example the amount of stats per ilvl increase in a greater rate each upgrade lvl. After the gsl finals I'll try and track down the 50% number

This is item lvl vs intellect (the blue line) and sum of secondary stats (orange line) on mage tier chest items during MoP. It looks fairly linear to me. It most definitely isn't logarithmic (which btw is a slower increase than linearly, i think you meant exponentially).

Trinket behaviour isn't really a good way to model the power of items imo because a) soo trinkets are op as fuck and b) in general, trinkets are very different from every other piece of gear.

If ilvl - stats didn't increase exponentially then why the need for the stats squish?

Come to think of it, it does increase exponentially in the long run, and it's really noticable in the long run - ie, over ~450/500 item levels (from level 60 to 90). However, on a smaller scale (within one expansion or even tier), wether it increases exponentially or linearly doesn't change all that much. As you can see from those graphs, it really looks relevant only for t16 heroic gear.

Programming limits actually.
Boss health reached integer limits. It is a reason Garrosh heals 3 times during his fight instead of just having more hp to start with.

Yeah, but why did they reach those limits if not for exponential growth?

No matter how numbers are growing, eventually you get to a limit that computers can't handle. It's going to happen again in a few expansions.

Yep, I did mean exponential sorry about that

In any event, across that graph you linked before it's noticeable across the single tier. Call me old fashioned I guess, I just think that going up 65 ilvl in one tier is ludicrous.
