Or rather, they're trying to save them for the Warcraft 4 storyline so instead we get some new/random ones. I mean look at vanilla... we fought the black dragonflight, the old gods, and a massive troll empire. In TBC we fought the burning legion, Lady Vash'j, and Illidan. For WoTLK we had the liches, the nerubians, and Arthas.
Meanwhile in Cata we had Deathwing which felt rushed, and in MoP we have a bunch of brand new bad guys with Garrosh randomly going crazy at the end.
It's probably a good idea for us to not kill all of the big names from Warcraft 1-3, but at the same time it would indeed feel more epic to fight someone like Archimonde. Orcs are the new Trolls when it comes to instances.
Really the only move they are going to have left is to make more of our heroes into villains. Jaina is already well on her way. There is enough inter-faction animosity for there to be threads they can pull on in any case.
Jaina isn't on the train to "Villain City" anymore. They pretty much fixed that problem in the book War Crimes.
I think Grom being the last boss is a red herring. They said this expansion would lead into the next one. What possibly storyline could progress from such a pointless kill?

Kill or defeat Grom and as hes laying down on the ground in comes the Burning Legion then end scene.
Looks cool, even though I haven't played WoW in ages that trailer still got me hyped, even though I am afraid theyl butcher all the lore I am still interested in the Iron Horde and all its chieftans.
WOTLK trailer felt like the best to me due to the narration by the king, anyway they can still milk the Emerald Dream or go after Sargeras/the real Burning Legion if they want.
Emerald Dream has been covered in book long ago already, and it's been said many times they are not going to make expansion out of it either. And after Sargeras there isn't anything left to fear or fight for(except Horde vs Alliance ofc) so I doubt we are going to see him anytime soon, KJ more likely. Not to mention Sargeras is supposed to be someone who can wipe your raid with the snap of his finger. We'll see if Med'an is going to be in WoD already or not, he'll most likely be the one battling Sargeras anyway unless they totally ditch lore out of the game and simply use it for gameplay purpose.

Well, the lore for our timeline is going to be perfectly fine still. The lore for that alternate timeline is going to be all sorts of fucked up.

Whatever... WHATEVER! I think it's great they are going back to the whole orcs theme. Pandas? Deathwing? I couldn't care less about that... I think orcs are badass, and they realise it too. The whole time-travel bla bla doesn't make any sense, but it's the only way they can go back to such a badass part of the story. Normally, I'd complain too. But honestly, I think they are going in the right direction by betting on orcs.
I thought the trailer was really cool, and if it weren't for me being out of the country, I would definitely be playing it. Humans, Orcs, Demons, Fuck yeah!

I'm fine with it as long as it leads into a Burning Legion expansion :D

Well, they said this one will lead directly into the next expansion... given the content Burning Legion seems really likely. Though I hope they don't make Sargeras the end boss for that one.

Well, we still have yet to kill Kil'Jaeden since we only pushed him back down his toilet and I don't think we'd be seeing Sargeras any time soon. Theres also still Azshara and N'zoth.
They also said at Gamescom that the final raid is going to have a heavy Legion prescence/influence so I guess thats basically the big hint.
Kara was just amazing in almost every way. This would have been the perfect expansion to have the underground mirror of Kara as a raid; especially since nearly all of that zone is already modeled.
I'm perfectly fine with Kara being left alone. The thing is that Kara was designed to be a 10 man raid not a 25 man so having more then the intended amount would seem a bit crowded.
Of course one could argue that with the Flex system . . .
Still, I'm fine with it. Karazhan was one of my favorite raids.
I can't speak for munkies but I personally was talking about them adding Lower Karazhan as a raid instance; not simply porting the original one to level 100. They could design it for 25m from the ground up.
Sadly it seems like Lower Karazhan is one of the many, many, many things in-game that they started but failed to finish over the years (RIP Emerald Dream). It's always a bit of a shame for me whenever they add completely new lore and content to the game when they have so much unfinished and forgotten lore already there.

I know what your talking about.
It would've been nice to have another part of Karazhan to explore and experience but oh well.

And it would have given us a much-needed Horror themed instance after the fucking Panda expansion. I mean the only thing that could come close was the re-do of Scholomance. Plus, if history is changed, Medivh might be as well, so there's plenty of lore bits to go around.

This is all I hear from people. "Fucking pandas this and that" when MoP actually did have a darker theme then most other then Garrosh basically going into "Hitler" mode and wanting to kill anything and everything that wasnt an Orc and impale them on spikes in Orgrimmar.

The problem was that it was just really bright and vibrant almost all the time. The only darkness really came from the Sha, which was your typical "vibrant colors v. black and white" thing. Plus, the Orange/Steel color palette from SoO is what we're going to be dealing with for half the next expansion too, so huzzah.
The mantid have cool and not just "we so dark and edgy" lore. In MoP when you hit exalted with them there's a little lore sequence where they reveal they worship the old gods and will fight us anyday should we threaten their gods. They purely fought along our side 'cause their council died and they had to get rid of the corrupt empress. Hopefully we'll see more about them and old gods in WoD.
