Same for me, but my master plan is essentially "go hide in a corner", which won't really work as this is a wraparound map. Is it possible to see what throne of ascension there is before conquering a province? I can't get any information with my scouts. I guess the amount of troops is correlated with the throne strength, but still.

The first few turns should be relatively rapid-fire. After the first year, things tend to slow down as diplomacy comes into the foray.

Administration value refers to what % of resources are claimed from neighboring territories right? How does that work if two forts are claiming from the same territory? so just for an example Fort A - Mountain - Fort B (40ad) 200res (35ad) If anyone could explain to me how the above situation would resolve I would be thankful : )

From what I've read, if two forts are claiming the same territory, they claim each a percentage of the province resources, unless the mountain province in question also has a fort. I assume that if the total administration of adjacent forts is above 100, then the total amount is divided and distributed to each fort, weighted according to the administration value. Obviously in that case it would be impossible to recruit anything in the shared province due to lack of resources. In your example, it seems fort A would receive 80 resources, fort B would receive 70 and there would be 50 resources remaining in the mountain province. Please correct me if I am wrong. Edit: Gah! Totally forgot about the half-penalty for provinces without a fort. In essence, adjacent province count as having twice as many ressources as shown on the map for the purpose of ressource transfer. The numbers would therefore be 160 for A, 140 for B and 100 ressources remaining in the province.

One more thing! In the manual I was reading about the effects of gems in battle spells. It says that using a gem can reduce fatigue, I've re-read the page a few times but I can't find anywhere where it says how much the fatigue is reduced. Is it percentage based? is it a set number? is there a maximum of one gem consumption per spell to reduce fatigue? so many questions :O

Reducing fatigue is a side effect of the mage's level being higher. Having an additional level divides the base fatigue by 2, with spell encumbrance added afterwards. For example, a W1 mage with a water gem and 5 spell encumbrance can cast a 20-fatigue W2 spell for 25 fatigue or a 20-fatigue W1 spell for 15 fatigue by burning the gem. You can only increase your level by one using this method and obviously you can't gain levels in paths your mage doesn't have. If you want to raise your combat level higher, communions are your friend. ![]() The number of gems a mage can use is capped by his path level. For example, an E1 mage can't cast an E2 spell which requires a gem, since that would require burning two gems.

Speaking of bad luck, my first combat was against a bunch of militia with some archer support. I thought it couldn't possibly fail. Well, a lucky archer shot and killed my prophet and then the militia managed to slaughter almost all of my army. Wasn't fun. Oh and hello, Ulm.

My worst event in a game was losing my capital temple on turn 5. Losing your prophet on your first battle seems much worse though. I guess your army instantly routed?

In my current game my pretender-god-dragon Trogdor has rank 9 fire magic and I researched up to lvl 6 (evocation?). Problem is that Trogdor casts so much fireball/rain-of-fire/omgwtfbbqflame that the whole battlefield catches fire and Trogdor ends up burninating a bunch of his own peasants. I know you can give fire resist gear to commanders, but is there anything I can do for the poor regular troops? I hate having to send so many letters home to their loved ones. I'm playing EA Ermor. Also another question, whats so bad about old age units? Doesn't seem like that bad of a debuff to me.

There are some spells, such as Flame Ward (Ench 5, F2), Fire Fend (Ench 8, F4). There are other spells too, but those should be the easiest for you since you use fire already. Also another question, whats so bad about old age units? Doesn't seem like that bad of a debuff to me. It makes units more likely to get afflictions, which can be nasty. Also eventually they'll die of old age, though I'm not sure when. Some more experienced player probably can tell more.
