I then looked for a game and found it pretty quickly. There is no delay at all, but I do get lag spikes every few seconds. Probably because of the location of the servers. I might play on it, I don't know. When you find a game through YY, it automatically launches your game in Chinese and goes to LAN and enters your game, and everything sets itself up automatically. The game is in Chinese after that, so it's a good thing I know most things inside and out or I'd be confused. A disadvantage is I have no clue what race my opponent is, since it's written in Chinese. I'm sure that once you get used to all that, it's pretty damn good as there really is no delay and the community is huge. I have lag spikes as I said, but they're not really bothersome. More of an annoyance really. Maybe I'll play some more this week.

We might have to figure something out. I'll be on the channel "TeamLiquid"! Anyone else interested in meeting up on BNet in a couple of hours, go for it, maybe we'll have more people.

id really like to play more Hu mirrors with you, so would be cool if we found a lagfree platform! theres a 3v3 random tourney in 90 min . probably will only need 3 or 4 wins to qualify for KOstages.

I won't be playing tonight though, I have plans made. Besides, I suspect that we are very likely to meet hackers in tournaments, as sad as it is to admit. So, 3.14 and I have started really playing together, more people should do the same! Join us! WC3 Resurrection!

While WC3 does have some viewers from time to time on Twitch, they rarely exceed the thousand. Granted, having it on TL would boost it a bit, but I still don't think it'd become major. It is a ten year old game after all. What it would take is an effort from the community, this one! And so: rise up! WC3 will prevail!

 1. more durable units means more opportunities for harass, skirmishes, and longer battles (no spending 15 mins to max an army that will die to AOE in 6 seconds) 2. racial variety - 4 races instead of 3, and each has nearly double the units of SC's races; plus the leveling system and items provide more variety as the game progresses. 3. more interaction w/ the environment: shops, day/night, weather, trees, etc makes the maps feel more immersive 4. the emphasis on micro over macro is more interesting for viewers. Once you've watched a hundred SC2 games the opening 5-10 minutes of macro can be pretty dull.

Well, to be fair BW was doing pretty well 10 years after its release, leagues like SOSPA still exists, so...you never know :p I've been playing straight onto ladder, but...my macro has been seriously awful (I blame Dota 2). I guess I'll need some more warmup games to get back into it. Having a great time tho, even met a few friendly players.

However, as the players improved, more strategies came to light and I honestly believe that WC3 never reached its full potential as far as strategies are concerned. I'm fairly convinced there was/is a lot left to discover. The feeling of rigidity in the 1v1 meta probably comes from the lack of rotation in the map pool. Some maps have been around since RoC (e.g Lost Temple) and are still played today (in ladder at least). There was very little map rotation in WC3 and while the custom game community was huge, not many 1v1/2v2 maps were created. There were a few, the best example being Secret Valley, which I believe was made by the WC3L staff. In any case, I firmly believe that WC3 would have reached even more depth with a permanently rotating map pool, as some maps really favor some strategic choices over others and make certain units or Heroes more or less viable depending on the match-up and so forth. Granted, making a balanced map for WC3 is pretty hard, but not impossible. I simply think e-sport was in its infancy almost everywhere at that point, and WC3 could never be fully exploited because of that. @Ydriel, yep, that's true. And BW is actually a perfect example, as its success and survivability to this day are pretty much a direct result of both an excellent game and a bulletproof infrastructure. South Korea was ahead of its time in e-sports and BW was huge only in that country, mostly because KeSPA did a very good job of managing the game. I may be biased, but I can only imagine that with an infrastructure at least somewhat close to KeSPA, WC3 would have reached even higher heights, especially given its much more important popularity in all the western countries and in China.

Lucky you, Oktyabr. Since you're in Singapore you can play on YY with the best conditions and no spike. It does seem to be the best alternative around, mostly because of the state of WC3 in China. I'll definitely play more on YY, but eventually the many spikes I get will probably hurt me some. In any case, if you feel like joining us, make an account on Azeroth! We still need to create the clan though. So far, the people who have been the most active the last few days are: Tchado (or so it seems), 3point14, Kevmeister (FliedLice), Ydriel and myself. Need a bit more to make the clan! Make it happen!
