It's been almost a month since the guys of Warcraft: Armies of Azeroth announced their new video, only to be set back by a graphics card frying.
No news since then. Their last FB post states that the guy in charge of shooting the video burned his graphics card, and has to replace it. One month though?
I really hope we see this project through. It would be a shame if it didn't make it, it looks damn good.
they have come so far already. cant see them stopping it with that much positive feedback. they will easily get 500k downloads for their final version. by the way I find the graphics they made superbeautiful; with style and a special touch! very looking forward to it!
Looks fantastic. The game is really pretty this way.
Oddly, I'm getting the impression that the updated graphics add a stiff feeling to attack animation. It doesn't seem as smooth as the original TFT, or as HotS.
The video itself is a bit underwhelming though. The game looks GREAT, but what they displayed is a little lackluster. I was hoping for at least a little battle, but can't have it all.
I hope they move fast, I really want to play this.
i wouldnt mind playing human mirrors with this version just think of the epic feel if they release race after race; like in the campaign
@spaylz: with stiff.. you mean the Archmage? cause I think its intentional and looks cool, like charging the shot. cant really see any stiffness but the movement of footies needs a little work
I want to open a discussion and see if Im the only one who thinks this.
As someone who fell in love with wc3:roc when it first came out, I still believe the Wc3 series is the best game of all time, hell to this day i wake up 1.5 hours earlier in the morning just to squeeze out a game or 2 before i go to work , a day without wc3 in the morning just isnt worth living.
So when WOW came out, I gotta say it pissed the living hell out of me, never even attempted to play it, its just not warcraft , it feels weird and not fun , of course this is my own opinion, the numbers, sales player base and impact on the gaming industry and culture prove that (same for dota 1).
Sometimes when i discuss wc lore with people, I outright tell them that I dont accept any lore or endings that come from wow , as far as im concerned arthas sits on the frozen throne wearing the lich king helmet , and im still waiting for the rest of this to unfold in a real warcraft game , an RTS.
am i being an elitist bitch ? or do others feel the same way ?
Well the story was definitely bent to fit the genre.
I disagree on WoW not feeling like "warcraft" though. When the game first came many sounds/graphics were directly used from wc3 and it added to the experience. It went down the drain in later years though.
Anyway, that mod looks really great. Best part it seems is that it's free, as in everyone can get sc2 basic.
Its just the game that you love having its lore butchered. It is okay to not like this. Just don't mention it 24/7, just warn them it is a sensible topic for you. I felt the same with Warcraft 3 rewriting a few bits of Warcraft 2. But they had to in order to get out new enemies and the story rolling.
Played wow and on my second character I made the grave mistake to read the story books that are scattered around there. At level 40 my friend told me to stop reading those books any longer because she couldn't bear me ranting about lore for hours.
The mod looks really cool, but I think I prefer the War3 graphics.

Just sounds like you're in super denial. Just because the story is told in a different medium doesn't mean it's not canon.
Im sure a lot of Warcraft 2 people though Warcraft 3 was stupid as hell. "Ogrim's not warchief? Orcs not really in control? Drink demon blood? Burning Legion?? Night elves?? WTF this isnt warcraft to me."

People felt the same way when warcraft 3 was released. It is the nature of the franchise.
I personally love just about every single thing they do or add to it - as long as they don't break or step over any core/major events that have occurred. (Mainly they just leave the bronze & infinite dragonflight alone unless it is solely for flavor content)
Vanilla WoW wasn't intended to be an extension of the lore. The expansions that followed it embraced and incorporated much more due to fans' requests. Also the Warcraft universe is absurdly huge, you could probably spent close to a month on WoWWiki and still have plenty to read.
Wc4 will probably have very little ties to wc3's direct story - any lore events or happenings that took place in WoW will probably remain intact but just disconnected, akin to the gap between war2 to war3. In fact I can pretty much give you a 99%+ guarantee that the next warcraft RTS will have no continuation of war3's storyline.
The Maelstrom and what happened to the core of the old Highborne are warcraft's biggest unexplored areas - and from how it is shaping up, most people believe wc4 will center around 4 factions: Horde, Alliance, Naga, and the Burning Legion.
That looks awesome! But I can't get over how "Strength" is misspelled "Strenght". But I guess it wouldn't be a true WC3 pseudo-mod if it didn't have spelling errors, right?
the reason why I love wc3 is the unique mechanics that dont exist elsewhere. Heroharrass, Creepstealing, Creeping, the balanced relationship between heroes units and items, beautiful lively mapdesign and the amazing micromechanics in battles and much more
