I think it comes back to my suggestion of reducing armor and armor gain for agility heroes. The damage output of the BM would be "forgivable" if he were more fragile; the same goes for the DH.

But as it stands, both of these heroes can take quite a beating, deal a lot of damage and also have access to escape abilities in the form of Wind Walk and Evasion. It's too much, and it's especially effective against creeps which leads to ridiculous situation of a BM+1 grunt creeping an orange or a red, or a DH soloing spots, etc.

I think, your suggestion might be a bit too gamebreaking, so I would love the see more changes to creeps/items. But I think, we might not agree 100% on the direction balances should take Warcraft 3.

This is well argued. I think a lot of my logic regarding what to do about DH/BM is based around the fact that both heroes are essentially invincible at key parts of the game. Moonwells and salves certainly play a role though.

As a player waaaay back (top 100 ladder in classic :p) and now watcher I really would like to see buffs to the never used heroes... Dreadlord! Nerub! Farseer! Everything NE but DH.
The damn near forced first Hero for most races in most MU's is one of the truely sad things in WC3.

The worst part about BM and DH is how they can just solo the item creep without punishment from pretty much any yellow creep camp. Bad enough you have to fight a hero who can just pop up and steal your creeps without warning, worse still if he's got Circlet/Claws and a greater heal pot after 4 minutes.

Good point. I think a solution then would be to either limit those changes to the BM and DH, reducing their overall armor for each level without applying the change to every single agility hero, or to buff the other heroes somehow. Perhaps make the Fire Lord move faster, increase mana gain for the DR, etc...

But I think the simplest solution would be to focus the changes on the DH and BM, as they really are the most problematic.

You could compensate a nerf to AGI armor gain with a buff to AGI Atk Speed gain. That would benefit ranged AGI heroes like DR/FL/POTM while nerfing the melee ones.

I mean it would all depend on the numbers but I was thinking in MOBA terms where AS is generally more valuable on ranged heroes as they're less likely to be kited. I can't recall if there are base attack speed/armor values in WC3 but if there is that might be a better place to start (lowering BM/DH base values, raising the others)

I think Crit in general is a prime target for balance tweaking anyway. My suggestion was independent of that.

Crit is not hard if the bm has no items on him, because he is not hitting fast enough or doing dmg enough but with items and attackspeed, crit because ridiculous imbalance, it took a long time for orcs to realize how good the bm is. Bm and dh are the superheroes.

The game needs no balance, the maps need the balance and the creep spots.

Attack speed could be interesting, since it definitely benefits the range heroes more than melee units. You should be able to control melee units by clever positioning, spells, and hit-and-run. In case, I think they should look at the base strength, agility, and intelligence for certain heroes should be investigated.

I think if they did remaster WC3, it would take a long time though, even if they skipped D2. Like he said in that yahoo video, sc1 took a year and that was the smallest of those core classic games. i wouldnt be surprised if it took a couple years for a wc3 remaster.


i think the july 3 remaster announcement is not likely because they'll have just finished sc1 remaster, i cant see them announcing something officially unless they have a lot of the game done already.

BUT, i am pumped for the PTR....and then soon we'll get the promised land....the Big Patch!

Been hearing about balance patch for over a year and a half now, always just around the corner. Will believe it when it actually comes out.

Watch the interview with the classic team. BW was an absolute nightmare to remaster. Tons and tons of stuff was basically hard coded and a lot of the things like libraries and whatnot just didn't exist. There were also resources they straight up could not find. They had to rebuild a lot of the game.

From what they described, it couldn't possibly get any harder than BW. WC3 would likely be significantly easier to patch.

I'm on the same page. There definitely have been hints that a patch is coming sometime, but I'm not holding my breath here. Blizzard take a long, long, long time to get things done.

I'm also not buying too much into the idea of a remaster. Graphically speaking, the game looks fine. It's pretty ageless, unlike BW. It would probably be best to update the infrastructure around WC3; BNet, the delay, matchmaking improvements and the likes. If they choose to do that I hope they don't do it in a way which compromises the spirit of WC3 though, as old BNet was beast.
