i have no emotion good or bad towards this game. i am noting the discrepancies in what they've promised for the last 3 years versus what they are delivering. its a credibility issue. When I decide to spend time and/or money on a developer their credibility is a factor.

I think it is a little much to question the credibility of a developer who has never shown the game or even announced features beyond that it is an RTS. You have to really load them up with your own personal expectations to get to the point of questioning their credibility. If you are asking holding people to statements about a game in pre-alpha, before they are feature locked, it shows know nothing about game development and shouldn’t be talking about it.

in 2013, they said they were going to make the console obsolete with a broswer platform. the headline on their site was "Browser Is The Console" or "The Console is The Browser" or some other such nonsense. The game and browser "platform" was to ship in 2014.

everything impacts on credibility. open your yap and make big promises and then deliver nothing and it impacts credibility.

if you want to throw your money at these guys.. be my guest. don't tell me what to do with my money.

from my perspective, at this point, i'd be more willing to spend money on Derek Yu's next creation than on Artillery's next product. I do, however, remain open minded. if Artillery wows me with some amazing experience i'll adjust my stance.

adding to my point... they've said it releases in 2016 ( after previous promising 2014 and 2015) and yet this is an Open Alpha in the last week of August..
so they've got 4 months to go through Alpha testing. Then a Beta and then release the game. its August 19th and the game has less than 500 followers on twitter. good luck with skill based matchmaking and low latency intense combat. this is not a formula for financial viability.

I remember the browser thing, I'm not sure what their plans are long term are with their engine. Things do change, I imagine, running a start-up.

I have a lot of minor criticisms about the way they're handling public relations, and some of your criticisms are reasonable. Yet a lot of it, as far as i can tell, is just assumptive. The game itself, may be amazing, or it may be trash, and little you have said has any bearing on that. I hope you try it out and give them a giant earful on their forums. You may find that they are pretty cool people.

No one is telling you what to do with your money, and Artillery wants you to try the game and rant at them (if you want to) free of charge.

I really don't think release dates, particularly tentative unofficial ones, really have much -that- much to do with their credibility.

I'm really disappointed its no longer an RTS. I can't blame them given the nature of the genre nowadays.

So what - they jumped on a hype bandwagon and it turned out not great because they wanted to do more. They are transparent about it and still deliver the game.


Big promise; eh. Thats a stretch. Its not like people were only interested because of that browser thing.

Original TA is old yes. But Zero is a total conversion mod with all new graphics and interface. Having up to date controls. Also the mod is not that old either.

they promised a browser-based game building platform and never delivered. this impacts their credibility. they went far and wide yelling at the top of their lungs how they were going to make the console obsolete with a browser platform that never got made even though they said it was coming in a few months.

Blizzard promised PvP in D3 for years and never delivered. this impacts their credibility. Fortunately, BLizzard delivers in so many other areas their reputation can easily withstand this 1 mis-step.

Artillery has delivered nothing and has no reputation to fall back on. I advise keeping one's expectations low for this game.

plus who cares how old the game is any way? my sports game of choice is EA NHL '94. i try other sports games but they're just not as fun so i keep going back to old reliable.
