Melee is widely regarded as a more competitive fighter than Brawl.

Nintendo made a lot of stuff to Brawl to make it anti-competitive like random tripping. The community supported SBM so it is here.

Similar to 1.6 being used over source. Brawl broke a lot of mechanics that made Melee highly competitive with a high skill ceiling. And yes the balance in Brawl is atrocious so much that one character is banned. Even with all the OP shit you may find int fighting games, it still takes a lot to ban a character.

Some people are used to playing on keyboard due to emulators and stuff, so they maek controllers that emulate that layout. That is one of them. The hitbox (http://www.hitboxarcade.com/) evolved from that same mindset. A lot of the gear that goes into custom sticks or modifying production sticks is community developed as well. Several people have produced PCBs that will let you use your controller on different consoles. There is a community developed silent button/joystick, an optical joystick mod (one that uses an optical sensor instead of microswitches), the Link joystick shaft, which lets you detach the the shaft of the joystick for transportation purposes, etc. A lot of this is done on SRK in the tech talk forum. About a year or so ago SRK actually held a contest for someone to design and build a SC2 controller. This was the result: ![]()
