Also the zed thing is a big deal when it comes to immersion. When the melee is terrible the only thing you can do is run from them and they never stop chasing unless they get bugged out in a building or you can shoot them and waste precious ammo. Really kills the feeling imo.

For me it's mostly being impatient. I really want the game to come out so I can play the hell out of it. Even if it was a buggy alpha I would still be super stoked to play it. At this point too most of the interest from the game is gone. The only people still interested are the die hards. New blood is always a good thing for the game.

You can ditch the zombies incredibly easily. You can run through a building, run around a building or go through trees. If you can't ditch zombies easily you haven't really played the game much. Yeah the zig zagging is annoying as fuck so they already fixed it. It should be hard as fuck to hit a zombie while your on the move though. In real life hitting anything on the move is nearly impossible.


As for the melee animations of course they are clunky in the DayZ mod. I doubt there was a zombie attack animation sitting stock in the ARMA 2 engine. This seems like a very easy fix for the standalone. Going into melee combat with zombies is stupid as hell unless it's a last resort and the hatchet reflects this nicely. One shot to the head, a few to the body to kill a zombie. Again they just need to polish the animations a bit for the standalone.

The hype isn't even gone. The moment alpha is released everyone will be right back on board. They will see it on the front page of Reddit and feel left out and forget that they ever lost hype for the game and were totally not playing it when it finally came out.

Dude you kind of missed both my points.

I said the zombies get bugged out in building and it ruins immersion. Your response "You can lose the zombies easy in building unless you suck."

To be honest I don't know why they're adding all these tiny features like ripping bandages to make cloth when the zed issues are really what kills immersion in a big way for most players. I get that it's hard to fix, but it would improve the game soooo much more for me and a lot of other players, and it doesn't seem like the dev team is seeing it as much of a priority.

2014 confirmed with that bullshit drama on reddit today.
They've wanted to put some "content creators" in closed-pre-before everything-ancient-alpha, reddit fliped out, they've backed off. It was all silly but it's pretty clear, they are not ready and they don't even want to release it in 2013. After next week comes the dead zone of christmas/new year's eve = no work days = no alpha.
