You need to be runeing your gear before you do dungeons seriously.
i got the impression that dungeons were more easy and focused on stuff like communication, interrupt rotations etc. Two of the bosses in skullcano for example are soloable - stompy dude and last boss - without abusing mechanics/bugs. All of the dungeons feel like you can finish them in two thirds of the timer if you're fast and don't wipe with 5 people who know the dungeon and eachother
how much AP do i get from like 20 runes or whatever i'l have after the patch like 35 god knows how many (omg plat costs..)

The issue here is what I've told you already in game. You need to stop focusing so much on BiS gear and instead just rune what you have (which is already closer to BiS than most people, probably including me) and start enjoying the game in dungeons and raids. 99% of being 'good' at the game is learning how to move around fights, maximise uptime, follow mechanics, and not die. Gear will come naturally.

Idk it depends on the gear level that you have. It could be anything between 9-7 to 17 from a single slot. Then you have your assassin rune set bonus where you get 26 I think extra ap per 4 assassin runes you have and 1.5% boost to dps from weapon specialist (which is more then the assassin damage at end level) plus a resist reduction when you hit something.
Deeps makes everything easier and makes you a better person.

I just see the rune thing as "go farm money for 30 hours to unlock this gear tier", i'm already failing to cap elder gems when i dont do dailies

A few fights are a bit dps gated (storm talon for one, if you have good dps, he's ridiculously easy. If your dps is really low he becomes hell on earth) and almost all the fights are made considerably easier by having high dps, just because it lets you kill stuff faster, and therefor go through less phases.
Just because something's "solo-able" doesn't mean dps doesn't really really help :p

The reason you feel that way is because you're usually doing them with four people who overgear the dungeons and have done them 52983498234 times and are now so familiar with them that it doesn't matter. When we first learned them, every bit of dps mattered.
Also runes will always be that expensive if you leave them to buy all in one go. You would have had more than enough gold to buy them had you not spent all of it on fire/fusion gear.

I've spent maybe 6 plat total on gear in my life and i'm looking at like 5x that to rune stuff potentially (gotta check exactly what i need and prices)
that does make me a little more uneasy about runing stuff though, 2 plat of runes on a 50g bit of gear doesn't seem like a great idea when for 1-1.5p there's a much better one available, but everything will change with the rune changes. I think i'm just going to build up assets until then because not only will rune slots available change massively, they're making runes cheaper too. If it saves me 5 plat then that's like half a night that i dont have to sit mining.

Unless you're going full out for elder rune sets, a standard set rune costs about 50g - one augmented at ~30g max and three intricates at 4.5g each, and a few signs that don't usually cost that much. I have 28 runes in my PvE healing set (the main set I use), of which about 20 are set runes, which therefore altogether cost me about 10 plat.
Where are you getting 30 plat to rune from wtf
By the way, you're still sitting around debating what to do regarding your gear instead of just playing the game and making gold that way

Nobody does stuff at 2pm
I just forum post sometimes when i can't play anyway. I'm just thinking about wtf to eat for breakfast and how i will entertain myself during the ~4 hours of circle mining and WOTW pugs later to get most of my elder gem weekly cap in a night
i heard that i was supposed to get like 8 fusion blast runes for ~3p each? No idea what i'm doing because i didn't find a good rune guide that covered everything. I'l look at runemaster when i log on and see if it says anything understandable. When i first planned to use runes, i wasn't even aware of rules like subsequent runes giving less stats, not being able to socket the same rune multiple times in the same bit of gear and gear giving different stats based on the slot and ilvl, those are probably the most prominent three. I'm waiting for another random rule to come and fuck up my plans

Ok, i think i did this right.

Weapon specialist: Six of assault power, six of strikethrough.
Assassin: One assault power, three crit chance
Fusion Blast: Six assault power, two strikethrough
Non-set: One strikethrough on water
Just to confirm, the bonus on Assassin and Fusion Blast are both called Assassin. Do they stack? If not, should i disregard the assassin set as soon as i can fit eight fusion blasts?
Is there anything else i need to worry about?
Am i an idiot for setting nine strikethrough runes when i already have 6.24%?
Those eight fusion blast runes come to ~13p
Projected cost around 20 plat, but most of that is the fusion blast set. I could probably cut that pretty much in half if i ignored that set and took random no-name runes

choices made:
For random rune slots, assault power > moxie > strikethrough (i already have 6.24% and i'm adding seven runes for it without a choice..)
For weapon specialist, assault power and then strikethrough - the only other option is crit severity on logic.
For assassin, assault power where available (one rune) and the other three as crit hit chance instead of crit severity rating
This makes enough sense for me to think that i got it right, but when i first opened the interface i was like "..you wot m8"

I think it's a bit early to get that many set runes.
Better gear will drop in dungeons but it'll screw up your set bonuses. Then you'll have to switch things around and get more augmented/shadow blast fragments.
I'd go like 4/12 assassin and 4/12 weapon spec for now, and basic runes in the other slots.

Well i'm not running dungeons much atm (usually hard to get people from guild to go; most people don't want to run them, many of the rest are like "sure, if we get 3+ people" - and i don't have much gear to seek out from them. I actually went over every gear piece last page so i don't think it's very likely at all that i'd have to make notable changes before the rune rework. I even have some random bits of gear like Pirates Bane and the stormtalon 100 brutality shield with +29 brut while shields are up special (that's epic so it'll have 5 rune slots)
i don't see reason not to get 12/12, 4/4 - like i said too, fusion blast is probably prohibitively expensive until after rune rework; i don't feel like farming another 10p for those runes, it'd take me 8 hours and it'd probably be suboptimal as soon as rune rework dropped, if i was nitpicking about DPS enough to get them, i'd have to replace them afterwards.
If you have an earth slot for example, you can try to reroll it to see if you get fusion, fire, air etc. If you don't see any upgrade, you can cancel it and keep earth - but the reroll process, even when cancelled, destroys the rune currently inside
If you could go over "better gear" drops it would be nice cause i think the dungeon upgrades are few enough to be counted

New ways to get amp & abilites Unlocks, coming soon(tm).
AMPs : 8 Beloved with Crimson Badlands Beloved with Northern Waste Beloved with Containment R-12 Prestige vendor, 4000 prestige (x2) Path level 15 reached Gold medal from vet STL Gold medal from vet KV
Abilities : 5 Beloved with Blighthaven Prestige vendor, 5000 prestige Path level 30 reached Gold medal from vet Skullcano Gold medal from vet SSM
**Note that the list from above are a "one-time attainable" deal. ie: you can only buy an amp unlock with 4000 prestige only ONCE; you can buy an ability unlock from Blighthaven rep only ONCE... etc etc, you get the idea. These are also not trade-able.
They are also increasing world drop chance from level 50 mobs, as well as from pvp bags. Will also drop in raid. These I assume are trade-able just like what's available currently. You will be able to put these in the CX next big update.

You're an idiot for useing strikehtough runes when you're above 6% yes. Assult power is everything and matters more then getting set bonus's right now.
Fusion blast and assasin don't stack kinda. a full fusion blast will stack with a 4/12 assasin. weapon specialist is better then fusion blast or assasin though.

Oh god I actually have to do dailies now zzz
|
There are 2 AMP upgrades for 4K prestige*
So 8 AMPs and 5 ability points, that's nice
Getting beloved with Containment R-12 is like impossible, so screw that. Blighthaven too, not gonna spend half an hour on scorch each day, I think I can solo Elyona the Mad though so there's that for 400 rep/day.. Gold medals are a roll between 5, so screw that too
That leaves me 5 AMPs and 2 ability points. I already bought 1 ability point, so for me it's 6 AMPs and 5 Ability points to go :D
And now I have something to do between raid days as well, farm lvl 50s or do more PvP.
I'm a pretty big fan of this change. Just hope they implement it soonish.

Cyro, I don't know enough about warriors to comment, if you already have Barrier and Pirate's Bane you're a lucky bugger
I'd still hold off on fusion blast, certainly if 4/12 assassin doesn't stack with it, but idk if it does.
|
Isn't Pirate's Bane finesse, or does it have enough AP to make it BiS for Warriors too?
|
It's a lot of naked AP.
There's a weapon attachment from Malgrave Trail that gives more total AP due to Brut, but it's dropped by the Skywing Village boss, so 1) you need to run malgrave for 40 minutes each time 2) you need to convince your party to go Skywing instead of Uboshwa at the end 3) the boss has to drop the thing (pretty high chance so far to be fair) 4) you need to get enough (good) slots to make it actually better
After patch the Bane can get up to 5 rune slots as well, which will probably make it better.
