Yeah, I figured as much. What I really meant to ask is this: Is min/maxing the most important part of competitive battling? Or is lineup selection/strategy more important?
If min/maxing is the most important, it seems like it would be boring and a waste of time.

It's more like selection/strategy/prediction is very important but min/maxing is a given before starting the strategy. Getting 3 good IVs in the stats you want is actually easier than ever with how the friend safari guarantees at least 2 perfect IVs. EV training is just a matter of picking the stats you need and sitting down with super training for an hour.

Lets use Starcraft as a comparison.
Normal pokemon = play Starcraft with 50% HP units. You put in 1 hour into each pokemon and your units now have 90% HP. You put in 20 hours per pokemon and now your units have 100% HP.
A Masters League Starcraft player can beat a Diamond with 90% HP units but probably not 50% HP (but is possible with good enough strategy / mechanics / abuse)

Playing pokemon without min/maxing is the same as having a random set of runes / masteries. It matters and affects a lot of things like winning trades but if you counter pick / outtrade / are more skilled in general you can still win.

Man I just added everyone. Its just going to drive me insane because people have different names then their TL usernames. I guess in hindsight we should have added the original name in the OP as well...
Anyways, can anyone tell me what my type/pokemon is pretty please?  I'm reket in the game.

I picked up larvesta for volcarona later, gastrodon, tyrogue, forretress, breloom, piloswine, ferroseed, abra and metang. Still looking for a dragonair for dat multiscale. Skarmory also seems like a decent pickup.
