X and Y made things easier for competitive purposes (breeding changes mainly) but I think in their quest to make the competitive aspect a lot more accessible, they kind of failed to come up with a game that stacks up to the previous gens. Not only is the depth of the content lacking, but the quantity of stuff to do after beating the Elite Four is pitifully low. There's only 3 extra legendaries to catch. I rushed through the story after getting the game and told myself I'd put off of breeding for competitive Pokemon until I did everything I could post-game. Found myself with nothing to do in the game pretty quickly aside from breeding mons and filling up my dex.

I have a friend looking to try out the Pokemon series for the first time and I am recommending him to try out the 5th gen games instead if he wanted to try out Pokemon the ingame experience in those games were a lot better. Nooo... that explains why you kinda dropped off being online on my friends list ![]() I sort of agree. It needed something like the PWT from BW2, among other things, but fortunately I'm into competitive battling enough to continue breeding in the meantime - it's even enough to keep me away from WoW at the moment, heh. Maybe they had to spend too much time importing all the graphicals and what not into 3D, but I still can appreciate their efforts at making the game. The new online features do leave a lot of potential for the sequel/expansion, and I'd also wouldn't mind if they further expanded their Friend Safari, character customisation and maybe even Pokemon-Amie features as well. That's two 30s that you have to somehow roll to breed with Destiny Knot mechanics. You possibly have to roll a Ditto with 30 IV and/or roll it on the mon you're breeding. 6 IV is still time-consuming, don't get me wrong. But passing 31 IVs is a lot easier. You pretty much breed a bunch of 4/5 IV male and female Pokemon of the species that you want, and then use this : Gen 6 Psuedo RNG abuse to reset till you roll a 31, and match IVs to the Destiny Knot roll. Some examples of Pokes I've breeded: 31/31/31/31/31/0 Quiet Aegislash, 31/0/31/31/31/0 Quiet Reuniculus, 6 IV Moxie Salamence (why is my favourite dragon so nerfed - it doesn't even get Outrage till Pokebank -_-, Dragonite and Garchomp are way better right now!)

I've been playing on showdown a bit though trying to come up with a team I like. Nice to see another Salamence fan.

Also playing the new Zelda game and getting back into DotA again lol. I've been playing on showdown a bit though trying to come up with a team I like. Nice to see another Salamence fan. I'm going to wait for more research to be spoonfed to me after the Pokebank release to even consider tinkering with the older games for transfer purposes. 1. First of all, previous gens' Pokes would probably have imperfect IVs due to the absence of Destiny Knot mechanics. Which brings us to: 2. How do you get tutor moves on your new Pokes? Like, how do you make a Salamence with Outrage? Do I have to create that in Gen 5 and transfer it over? Which then brings us to: 3. Do I have to download perfect IV Pokemon in Gen 5 for them to be competitive with the old moves? I had to download a Wish Chansey to use for Gen 5, and a Landorus-Therian because Singapore doesn't get Dream Radar. I'm sorta okay with doing it for the one-time catch psuedo legendaries since it's ridiculously hard to get perfect IVs on them, especially with the old mechanics, but after getting used to breeding perfect Pokemon in Gen 6 consistently, it's going to be a little iffy to have to possibly resort to downloading - *if* it even works in the first place. Salamence took a huge hit ![]() I want Salamence to get a Mega Evo (as well as Dragonite, then holy trinity of dragons Mence/Nite/Chomp will have Mega Evos, which would be really cool to me) to try and catch up.

Thanks for reminding me of that. At least that's makes it sorta easier. I'd still hate to have to keep going to the Battle Test or to feed like 50 candies though (though I have tons from Pickup) to try and get the magical 30 on something :\ With this info, I might try and run a Hidden Power mon I thought I wouldn't be able to do.

I think you'd need to download them to get the tutor moves. You can't port pokemon backward, so you can't take a perfect pokemon from Gen 6 and take it to black 2 for tutor moves. Either way, I am just going through the old games for dex purposes for now. I've been playing a bit of Pokebank OU on Showdown and actually already have a team in mind. Salamence is one of my fave pokemon too (I like dragons a lot lol). Although I think right now his scarf set only really does work on hyper offense setups. I'm having a bit of success with a Mencewile core balanced team on Showdown, and I might just port that to cart for 6v6 singles purposes. Using a mixmence there to wallbreak. Landing Draco Meteors on unsuspecting physical walls is pretty fun too.

Pokemon with Gen 5 tutor moves being ported across is also nice. There is actually a lot of discussion on Smogon already about the possible state of the Pokebank metagame. It is worth noting that you could actually port Pokemon all the way over from Gen 3 (so stuff like Wish Chansey/Blissey becomes possible albeit very rare)

In terms of egg moves, big counters/checks, etc. It depends on what format you are playing. As far as egg moves are concerned I know for VGC some important ones are Chandelure is getting Heat Wave and Dragonite is getting Extreme Speed. Some pokemon are getting access to their hidden abilities, like Timburr, Aerodactyl, Kangaskhan(can't be flinched iirc), etc. Lots of pokemon are being added to the mix for singles including many important threats/useful pokemon like Genesect and Heatran, the genies, etc. A lot of pokemon with access to defog are going to be available. Pokemon are getting hidden abilities like Starmie, etc.
