Paladin is fine, if you want pure tank class tanks best in the game together with monk, it's dps build is decent, nothing spectacular but very consistent and benefits your party a lot for a dps character with aura, rez and debuff ignore. My monk is my main damage dealer in my party that has Eder, Aloth, Kana, Durance and a custom rogue.

He was too for me until like level 6, and I built him wrong (too much con and very little of anything else), but then Aloth overtook him because he can just spam so much AoE.

More AoE CC and debuffs, decent blasting abilities and the per encounter ability absotely destroyes shadows/shades if your wiz has high might. Just give the wizard an arbalest and keep it at range. Most of wizards spells are either damage or cc/debuff while druid spells tend to be damage+cc/debuff while usually also doing more damage, also druid has good heals (and summons to distract enemy, but they aren't that useful).

I rest rarely so Aloth does not spam damage spells but debuffs in my party. My monk then cleans house.

You can edit your formation to put them further back and give priest ranged weapon, most enemies shouldn't be able to go past 2 fighters and if few manages you can snipe them before they reach your squishies.

Assuming the 2 fighters have enough engagement slots. If you do it wrong two fighters can have 2 engagement slots in total.

Well looking at the level 1 best option for wizard in damage, Fan of Flames is 50-65(+Might*2%), the only spell a druid lvl 1 has that comes even close is Winter Wind, 30-50. Druids have a bigger selection of damage spells, but I find them to be of lower values than wizard. Druids may get a better selection of what stat to attack though. Wizard CC/debuffs just blows any class in the game out of the water so that's not even a point.

Also it really helps you understand the mechanics of the game. What class did you decide for and any items you tried to rush? The summoning items seem like must haves in my mind.

This spell pushes 5m too while doing ok damage, then druid gets lvl2 spell that does same damage with 80% attack speed debuff and is way easier to cast without hitting allies, while wizard gets exactly 2 more good damage spells both being heavily outclassed by druid storm spells. If you think that wizard cc and debuffs blows any class in the game out of the water try cipher (who by the way deals a lot more damage than wizards).

Chanter with high pers/int/res (not constitution). That phantom is so good. Tried to rush to the horn in gilded vale post patch (so I can get a meatshield when I'm chanting 3 verses). Only managed to get it after going through the dungeon in Raedric's Hold. It is certainly possible to get it quicker with the discount, but I didn't realise I could sneak by the bandits to retrieve the supplies in Black Meadow. I think summons are a must, or some really high stun resist because I keep getting perma-stunned by a single phantom in Caed Nua. Traps are also insanely useful.
