Some of the fights are like 6 dudes and there are 2 paladins and 1 priest in the mix. Fuckers are like impossible to kill. And wizards seem pointless as fuck. They have huge AOE spells that are great, but hit EVERYTHING ON THE SCREEN. Allies included. grrrrrrrr Get 6 characters. Go somewhere else and level up if you get stuck. AOE spells have two indicators. One hits everything, the outer one only enemies. So position them well and make sure not to walk into them. You could also build your wizards as tanks and do point blank AOE. Some good self buff spells in the game (I did not do that). Try out the below strategy for the adra dragon, should work since that dragon is harder. http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72955-firkraag-was-hard-but-he-wasnt-cheating/?p=1609049

Anyway I'm in Defiance Bay and the game is amazing. My PC fell asleep while I was reading one of the lore books, ahahaha. Must have pressed something accidentally for sure, but it was amusing nevertheless.

Think I only had a single CTD that wasn't in the keep where area transitions stopped working. Pretty good in 40 h. Max level is easy if you have somebody with high mechanics and don't pick up keys unless you need to. Some of the backtracking was sad but only one or two cases were actually needed for the main plot. I can also agree with others that none of the weapons or armour really stuck out in the game. TONS of named stuff that was better than anything you could enchant but nothing that made you say I am going to make a character just for this weapon next time I play. Will wait for next weekend and hope for some patches, then time to try for some of the remaining achievements. Probably No Rest for the Pro, 10 rests in the entire game, will probably mean switching out characters to keep fatigue down (main char at high fatigue for long time periods) and maxing athleticism to keep it down. Will get the expansion if/when they release it. you are already through? how many hours did it take you?

Found the following fix for some areas at least. Havn't tested it myself but some said it worked. "If you put your party into sneak mode before you enter The Hall of Revealed Mysteries then no one will be hostile towards you. You will have to do this every time. For some reason if they can see you when you enter they are flagged as hostile towards you."

Having a blast so far, story is definitely interesting, combat kicks ass (playing on hard), graphics are gorgeous... Got a few complaints obviously: a few bugs (I've had the one where your stats increase for whatever reason, Kana with 34 intel has some pretty big AOE...), companions are kinda meh so far (though it could change when I do more of their personal quests), translations that need some serious love... But nothing too annoying and that can't be patch pretty soon ![]()

All normal conversations, then about half of the remaining content, tomb stones, character souls, books and so on. The souls and tomb stones got a bit boring, only a few were really good so stopped reading all of them and just skimming. I did not finish 3 tasks, bugged or I made enemies of the people that gave them before turning them in. Didn't want to kill them so they are open instead of failed. Also made enemies of several factions so couldn't get their quests. I stole everything I could while sneaking and sneaked in even after being warned in some occasions. I played on normal though, so less re-doing combat and the combat itself going faster.

Can someone tell me how the NPC quests advance? Is it related to solved quests? Will they still advance while the are parked in the stronghold? I want to do a costum party but still do all the companion quests in my next playthrough. Can someone share their experience?

All NPCs have quests you need to solve or triggers that you encounter while exploring and doing other stuff. Some things like Aloth for the city only triggered on the bridge for me. So it would depend on the character if things trigger or if they have a quest line the entire time.

True, they need to be in the party for the actual solution to that step in the quest. I think some quest starts only trigger with the companion in the party but others have quest lines the entire game. At least that is how I recall Aloth quest in the first large city, nothing until he was in the party and it triggered to find a specific person.

Not for all steps though, I haven't got Eder in party in Caed Nua, but i got tick in jurnal for that step, but after talking to him I couldn't start conversation with Record Keeper without Eder.

I really don't understand why the devs left that part out completely. BG had a different puzzles all over the place and it felt just so much better than just slaying through hords of enemies every single dungeon. I think this is my main concern with the game, otherwise I really liked it. I like what they did more than the puzzles. A puzzle is hard once then you know it and has no re-play value. What they did is make you be able to use athletics and similar abilities in the story board. Giving you multiple ways to solve different problems. So one time you fight through the enemies. The next time you talk your way out of it. Or maybe you jump over the cliff and get a sprained ankle or not. It could have been developed more but the direction is one I like since it makes the same place play out differently due to different stats or choices.

There were some in BG2, but not that much as well.

high deflection is a must, fighters can get it really jigh, paladins can get in pretty high too. Eder isnt optimally build, but even he doesnt get hit like 90% of the time for me. after that in priority is high saving throws against spells armor should just save the day for when you actually get hit. i only play hard though, pth of the damned might be different, but i doubt it.
