Be carefull with tarrifs, try to have as high relations as possible. Try not to choose events increasing liberty desire. I never had colanial nation rebeld against me....

I just would never do any tariffs at all if you plan on making large colonial nations, only if you plan on only taking important trade provinces and moving on elsewhere. In my France game my colonial nations hovered around 45% liberty desire without any tariff increasing decisions and I had ~4000 development. That was with every single colonial region province under my subjects control. You're never going to get a whole continent peacefully under your control if you're only Portugal sized for example.

managed to get emperor as prussia
not bad

changed my strategy up as brandenburg and instead of trying to conquer the teuts(which poland had already split) the day the truce ended i immediatly declared war and let PLC fight them, then vassalized them. caused poland to break alliance which let me get austria and hungary so they wouldnt declare on me

My problem playing bburg is if you lose konigsburg to poland its really really hard to get someone who can actually beat them.
usually if i want a prussia game i just play as the teuts since you already have everything required you just need the admin level + protestant thing.

this is me currently, austria is currently integrating hungary who they pu'd in like 1540 or something
i think i just lose when that happens but we will see.
muscovy has been shit on constantly which is really annoying.

also dont see the point in annuling treaties when you get a truce for 15 years and they can have all their allies back before the truce expires :S

The length of a truce is based on how much warscore the peace deal is worth. So in your situation, if Saxony and Poland were allied and you won a war against them you could sign a separate peace with Saxony breaking their alliance with Poland and take 100 warscore of provinces from Poland. This gives you a 6 year truce with Saxony and a 15 year truce with Poland. So with annul treaties lasting 10 years you now have a 4 year window to kill Saxony before Poland can ally them again.

Always increase mercantilism when you can, direct trade into the node you're collecting from. Using a merchant to collect trade in your trade capital is worse than transfer trade, unless you have very little trade power in your home node to begin with. Protecting trade adds small amounts of trade power (+2 per ship?), so most of the time you will just want to protect your trade capital to maximize trade income and lower the income of others collecting there. I usually just use my starting light ships to protect trade until they die and then I don't bother, they don't have a lot of impact.

Trade is actually super simple, it just looks confusing because of all the data that gets thrown at you. All you need to know is that steering trade (while not collecting with a merchant anywhere but your home node) increases your trade power by 10% per merchant. More trade power in your home node = more monies. More trade power in nodes that transfer trade to your home node = more monies. That's all.

Like I don't even understand what half the information is. If I choose to protect trade somewhere and it offers me the breakdown on some gold to some gold that doesn't seem to show up in my income every month. I really have no idea what's going on.

light ships are important, but less so for your home node until later. You should see a jump in trade power and gold transferred or collected when you assign ships to protect a node.
