Recons are actually fantastic on vehicle maps just not for killing vehicles directly.
PLD and Soflam are really strong since a designated javelin does 50% damage to a tank and designated sraws are a real pain in the ass to air and ground. Considering how slow countermeasure reload times are right now you can effectively lock down whole lanes with a well positioned recon and 2 engineers (+ a support for the ammobox).
The MAV is probably the second most usefull gadget in the game after the reptool. It can spot actively and passively and it can destroy mines and enemy equipment from hunderts of meters away. Having a friendly whos good with a MAV in the server as a tank driver (ideally with battlescreen) gives you such a incredible advantage when it comes to positioning and decisionmaking its not even fair. MAVing is easily the most underrated role in this game since it requires people to take advantage of what you do and it doesnt give you kills/points wich is why people dont like to do it. This is one of the biggest differences between organized and public 32v32BF. In organized matches each team will atleast have one MAV up 24/7, its such a great advantage that its often worth dedicating 2 people to do nothing but MAVing.
Then ofc the recon also has the spawnbeacon wich is so good that whiny "competitive" players who cant deal with advanced tactics try to ban it constantly. Its a strong tactic to sneak behind enemy lines and hide it near backflags so your team can spawnbomb and flank/backrage or flash the backflags to draw enemy forces back and allow your forces to push.
And if that is not enough already recon has also the tugs wich is good on vehicle maps in certain areas and fantastic on infantry focusedmaps/infantry only modes.
Recon is a really good and usefull class that immensely helps your team to win if played right. Most recon players though are douchebags that sit on a roof behind the friendly base and do nothing but try to get some cheap longrange kills wich dont influence the outcome of the match at all. It is ironic that thanks to dices retarded point system (headshot bonus) they get more points for being useless than they would if they play the game in a way that is extremely usefull.

So did they fix the whole "requires latest Nvidia Drivers" thing yet? Anything passed 314.22 crashes my PC, and i have yet to find a work around. Im not too impressed, considering the game ran PERFECTLY up until that patch that made new drivers mandatory.

What is broken about it? There's still glaring balance issues but as for the actual game running with crashes and stuff I never experience any. Playing alone is kind of shitty but even if you can find a random squad that actually works together it makes the game a ton better.

So i did buy it, and so far i'm finding it ace. Not any different than i would expect from EA, given that i already had a rant on here about FIFA 14. Its just a small update for 50 quid, but the improvements are in the places that needed them the most.

Its a total rip off, but i really like Battlefield so i'll let this one slide.

Not had any crashes yet, just some really long loading times.

I'm not sure if there are any full patch notes around anywhere but I'll throw the recently discussed changes from DICE into the spoiler below for those who are interested.

Edit: Mantle is also now live for AMD users. Hope it works out for those of you who adopted AMD products on that basis (I'm happy with my SLI 780 classifieds thanks )

VEHICLE TWEAKS
Aircraft and Anti-Aircraft
1) Reduced the total amount of missiles carried by the Mobile Anti-Aircraft vehicles from 6 to 4. The total carried missiles were making it impossible for helicopters to use counter measures to avoid the MAA’s attacks.

2) Reduced the velocity of the MAA’s default 20MM CANNON from 1200m/s to 800m/s to match the 30MM CANNON. This reduction reduces the distance projectiles will travel and should prevent situations where the MAA could engage enemy vehicles without leaving its protected home base. The damage of the cannons remains unchanged, and aircraft, especially helicopters, should remain wary of getting too close to a MAA.

3) Reduced the physical impact of all Anti-Aircraft missiles to prevent helicopters from flipping uncontrollably when hit. The damage values have not been changed.

4) Reduced the cone in which ACTIVE RADAR missiles search for targets, making them require a higher level of skill in predicting where a target will be when the missile is fired. The missiles were previously too easy to aim at long range, making them a guaranteed hit and a clear advantage over the other missile types.

5) Increased the direct damage done by the Attack Helicopter’s gunner cannon. The gunner will be better able to assist the pilot in taking down vehicle targets with this change.

6) Increased the direct hit damage of the Zuni Rockets for Attack Helicopters. The rate of fire of these rockets combined with their smaller magazine pool made them a poor choice over the other two rocket types.

7) Reduced the splash damage and maximum splash damage range of the Scout Helicopter 25MM CANNONS. These weapons were too effective against infantry with a higher splash, making them a clear choice over the 7.62 MINIGUNS in all combat situations. The 25MM CANNONS are intended to give the Scout Helicopter some measure of effectiveness against vehicles, at a clear trade off in effectiveness vs. infantry.

Tanks and Anti-Tank
1) Reduced the “intelligence” of the MBT LAW missiles, requiring the player to aim the missile closer to their target before the smart projectile will activate. Additionally, the MBT LAW now reloads slightly slower. This keeps the MBT LAW in its role of an easy to use, fire and forget weapon available to all Engineers, while also balancing it with the other rocket launchers in favor of skilled AT shots. Finally, a bug where the MBT LAW would pass through an ACTIVE PROTECTION shield has been fixed.

2) Fixed an issue where ACTIVE PROTECTION and the MP-APS did not properly stop 12G FRAG rounds.

3) Reduced the range where the M2 SLAM will do maximum damage to vehicles from 6M to 3M. Players will now need to be craftier when placing the M2 SLAM in order to get the full damage potential of this ambush anti vehicle weapon. This change is to primarily counter a tactic of placing 3 mines in the same spot to guarantee a kill on any vehicle passing within 6m. The range was deemed to be too large, making the M2 SLAM far superior to the M15 AT MINE.

4) Reduced the damage the STAFF shell does to all targets by 25%. This should balance the ease of use of the STAFF shell with its damage potential.

PISTOL TWEAKS
1) Increased the aimed accuracy of the M1911 to make it a viable choice once the COMPACT 45 has been unlocked. This gives the M1911 a clear accuracy advantage for range, while the COMPACT 45 has a clear ammunition per magazine advantage.

2) Increased the close range damage of the M1911, QSZ-92, FN57, CZ-75 and COMPACT 45. This will allow all pistols to bypass Body Armor at close range. Additionally, the FN57 and the QSZ-92 have had their long range damage increased to allow them to properly bypass Body Armor at all distances. Finally, the CZ-75 has also had its long range damage raised to give it a diverse role among the handguns.

3) Reduced the delay between pressing the trigger and the bullet firing for the M412 REX and .44 MAGNUM. This delay represents the way these weapons work in real life, while also improving their responsiveness in game.

4) Increased the magazine capacity of the QSZ-92 to 20 rounds, the proper amount for this weapon in real life. Additionally reduced the recoil of the QSZ-92 to give it a clear difference from the FN57.

5) Corrected a small error with the COMPACT 45 accuracy when crouched or prone. The weapon was accidently less accurate than intended.

OTHER WEAPON TWEAKS
DMRs
1) Increased the damage of all DMRs across all ranges. Specifically, damage has been increased at long ranges to allow three-hit kills against unarmored opponents. Additionally, reduced the penalty to accuracy for sustained DMR fire, allowing more rapid follow up shots in combat. The amount of the damage increase varies from weapon to weapon, according to its intended range, rate of fire, and damage. We will continue to monitor the effectiveness of DMRs in combat, and determine if additional action is needed to make DMRs a viable mid to long range weapon.

Pump Action Shotguns
1) Increased the accuracy of pump action shotguns (870 MCS, HAWK 12g, SPAS-12, and UTS 15) while on the move and aiming. The accuracy has been approximately doubled. These weapons did not have any available barrels or grips that would allow a player to enhance their aimed accuracy. This change should make the use of pump action weapons with slugs much more viable at medium and close range by allowing more accurate fire.

Carbines
1) Reduced the long range damage of the MTAR to bring it in line with the rest of the Carbines.

General
1) Adjusted the way inaccuracy is handled when transitioning from Hip fire to Aimed fire. Previously, if a player began firing before aiming, he would keep his hip inaccuracy while aimed, until he stopped firing. This was especially obvious with LMGs on the move. Players will now only be subject to the maximum aimed inaccuracy after the transition. While still terribly inaccurate, this allows for substantially more accurate fire than the old method and should allow players with LMGs to panic fire in close quarters, provided they are aiming.

2) The Heavy Barrel’s Accuracy bonus now also applies on the move, at a reduced bonus. This should give the Heavy Barrel a wider role for players who desire accuracy while aimed in all situations.

3) Synchronized the timing of the aim down the sights animation of sniper rifles with their ability to fire with full accuracy. Players no longer need to wait for additional time after the aiming animation plays to get accurate shots. There is still a delay to achieve full accuracy, so Quick Scoping is still not possible.



Also worth noting is the player appreciation month, this February, where you will get access to all pistols, shotguns and DMRs, should you so choose, for free, as well as a bunch of battlepacks for doing nothing but logging in each day. I guess this is for those players who started out and walked away from it for one reason or another.

Giving up on the game. I've fought with Battlelog for some time now trying to sort out the plug-ins and whatnot to get the game to simply run, but nothing to show for it. I'm not interested in investing any more of my time into it....

Is there a TL group to play in a squad with people? Doesnt have to be VOIP or anything, but I'd prefer working in a squad, otherwise I always get bored and go scout(and since I hate camping I die a lot, which I also hate).

2nd assault is out. finally.

It took me 2rounds of 64man no explosive metro to unlock the F2000. Was wincing because I purposely let people live in order to get the kill assist ribbons (10 required for 2 ribbons, first time i had to let people live through my gunfire)

I have to say, its worth the time n effort. It's amazing, 850RPM with basically NO recoil and extremely decent reload speeds. F2k is really REALLY OP. If there's a OP gun, it's the F2000 right now, seriously. I expect a nerf to it like what DICE did to the F2000 in BF3, when it just came out. It's hipfire is amazing too for a assault rifle.

The only fault that i found with it is that it has some horizontal wiggle , but manageable with doing 1-3 round bursts at range. Haven't unlocked the compensator yet, but I expect the F2000 with compensator & stubby grip to be even more amazing.

Look at that report. I joined the game at around 1/3rd of the game already completed, my F2000 only has a reflex scope on it, at floodzone which is pretty much it's optimal distance I was owning the enemy team and completed a comeback with a 12ticket win for my team.

Torte the "new" maps are the old BF3 maps.
Gulf of Oman is unbalanced like hell though.The team spawning from carrier is disadvantaged very badly,so far i have a 100% loss rate if im on the carrier team. The new sandstorm weather over Gulf of Oman also affects gameplay too much, you cannot see past a certain distance, and you can't mark helis/jets even if you can see them,and their like less than 50m away from you. Good luck trying to see past 200m on that map.

Firestorm is it's usual vehicle/sniper fests(along with assignment that requires you to kill people from highest point, like seriously DICE). Nothing new.

Caspian border is still the best maps of them all. Worth playing.

Metro I would consider it the 2nd best map now, even in 64 man conquests(with a no explosives rule that is). There is now 4ways to exit the hall, making it much easier to push up.

NOTE: I speak only of Conquest mode.

I've been playing Battlefield BC2, 3 and 4 mainly alone, but I think that it would be much more fun to play BF with some nice people, who play the objective
Where do you find nice people, if not here in the amazing TL-forum? :D

I cant play with you though,sadly. I play on the SG/HK/JPN servers pretty exclusively.

I played a bit of second assault...

Metro is full out grenade spam through doorways, Oman is the equivalent of filling a paint window with brown and looking at it for half an hour, Firestorm is just full chaos and caspian is OK.

But for me the worst part is that the game is still just Battlefield. Take a chopper? You're shot down almost before you take off because of HVM-II, MAA and the odd stinger. Take some armor? Well, go on a streak and have it ended by some clown sitting on his iPad and sending cruise missiles down on your head, or even AC-130/Bomber/Artillery.

There is just too much no-skill unavoidable damage in this game for me to bear anymore. If I want enjoyable infantry combat I'll go play CS instead.

PS. The best part? Next DLC will have anti-helicopter mines. I shit you not.
Theres a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot.

I still play. I enjoy the new maps although I have never liked firestorm or metro.

Waiting for a mode that actually appeals to me. I hit rank 50 and I've lost all desire to play. Even when I play with a friend; it's kind of mindless unorganized blandness.

I instantly die as soon as I spawn or I walk about 50 metres out of base to just die and I see why Titanfall appeals to so many people; less players, get some kills (even if they are just dumb AI) and you feel like you had your run that had some momentum.

With BF4, unless I'm playing Operation Locker, I play short bursts of dying.
