Doesn't sockfolder stream just playing around with OoT on emulator with the memory open looking for weird things that might be abusable? Not surprising he keeps finding stuff.

I would take a look at the doomed speed demos archive website Kyhron. It is updated weekly with new demos and is extremely comprehensive. Doom 1 contains 1900 demos alone which could be amateur speedruns or WR runs such as those by stx-vile, Henning Skogsto etc.

A site the combines the positives of TSSB, SRL, SDA and all the game specific sites where there were constant leaderboards with every games WR and the other runners PBs, then where we could share up to date strats and times and people trying to get into a game could be directed towards the right people and get involved without being completely lost. Then maybe a link to everyones stream and other simple things like that. The thing is, that website would be a ridiculous amount of work and there'd be no way to guarantee quality. On top of that, there are plenty of places for strats and guides for things, is just that they're not fun or worthwhile to write beyond your own notes. If you're the only person running, why spend hours writing out a guide and strats and that when people can just learn by watching your videos or asking you directly (which creates a friendship anyway). People won't write stuff about guides and strategies just in case somebody might want to learn it in the future. People who want to get involved should know by now that all they have to do is talk to a streamer. It's very very easy to get into running a game now (easier than ever before), all you have to do is just start playing and join in. There are small leaderboards for games, but the problem is that if you're making a website for all of them, you'll need staff or people who can verify everyone of them. Considering that every game ever could possibly require that, it's an incredible amount of work. SRL have been working on a game leaderboard for a while now (two years) and just keep running into these problems. How they can go back and fill in all the old times is another question. It's a nice idea, but there are plenty of reasons why it hasn't happened yet. To put all of that into one place is just a logistical nightmare. The only way it would work is if everybody wanted desperately wanted to contribute to it. I honestly don't think there's much demand for such a website to exist beyond just killing time for those wanting to browse leaderboards. The big games have their own websites because people want them. The rest of the games don't.

I'd just like to add that whoever takes on the task will have to make some tough calls that will invariably split the community. Just a simple example, do you include emulator speedruns or not? Personally, I think playing on emulator is so different and offers so many advantages that it would be sketchy to list them side by side. On the other hand, there are still lots of people who play on emulator so excluding them would also stir up bad feelings. And if you can't have everyone or at least the vast majority on board, why even bother trying to come up with a consolidated leaderboard in the first place... People have been asking for leaderboards for a long time. SRL has been working on leaderboards for 2ish years? Its something thats not necessary but would be nice for those not in the loop of what everyones times are especially in bigger games like LoZ, Kingdom Hearts etc. Emulators are handled differently by different communities. Some games have a separate category for emulator runs as the emulator runs faster/slower. Others combine emulator and console as one category as there is no real difference outside of maybe a few frames throughout the game.

I am actually in love with Irico's run right now... (I got a new WR of 4:06 beginner yesterday just to show how slow beginner is compared to proud) Also congrats Raelcun but DW when you have that optimised the wingman won't contribute anymore

I did a few runs of AC4 a few months ago when you were posting about it and got within a min or two of the times you were posting. Unfortunately, even though it's one of my top games of all time, I decided against running it any further because I found the number of stages that are purely time limited (and hence a lot of sitting and waiting) to be boring, sadly. Does AC5 suffer the same issue (can't watch vod currently, may check it out if I have time later)? I haven't played it in quite some time, but was pushing around the idea. Are there fewer stages that are time limit based? Or do you also end up spending a decent chunk of the run either sitting idle or playing around when it has no effect on your time?

Pydoyks/Shaeden just got the new WR with a 20:00 run using this trick, but it will surely go much lower than that. I wouldn't be surprised if people got sub 19:30 times.
