It's very easy to miss jumps even while going the proper speed, some of them are very precise. Even if you make jumps, not getting them quite the right way in some of the longer platforming sections can result in losing speed etc. It's a cool looking game that has a lot of technical controls behind it.
Would the movement system in Mirror's Edge be at all similar to strafe jumping/bunnyhopping? (not necessarily in terms of how you execute it, but in that you can gain a lot of speed if done correctly)
Not really, there's a maximum movement speed normally in the game, but if you get up to that maximum and perform a turn in a certain way you can increase that speed. Using that and making sure you don't do anything to lose the speed allows for making a few things that are normally not possible. This isn't super common in the game, most of the time it's using a variant of the trick to almost instantly get up to maximum speed to make a jump you shouldn't be able to do.
We're getting really close to the live marathons this summer now. ESA starts 15th of July and SGDQ starts the following week.
If anyone wants to make a thread for either, be my guest. I'm trying to collate a list of TL runners who will be at them. So far I think it's literally one at each. There is a guy with x17 in his name though (lololol).

Oh didn't know about ESA in Sweden. Can you go there without playing a game? (Considering showing up since it is my first vacation week and I don't leave for Seattle until two weeks later.)
That was cool. You should upload one with commentary for it to be even more cool so that I understand it more.
I was thinking about doing that since this is probably close to as good as it gets for me, but I only streamed and did not save a copy to my hard drive, so then I would have to redownload from youtube = less quality before uploading again.... I've been trying to find ways to add my own audio to a youtube video, but it seems impossible atm (it only let's you chose from some random audio list that the general public has no control over....)
