edit: Probably have to go back to modding this but the fact so many updates are still pending its too much of a hassle honestly... Actually in MTW2 and Shogun, I used mods but still I think the vanilla AI was a bit more expansionist even for the smaller factions.
is anybody else experiencing this? cause as i said, i'm at war with basically everyone i know without declaring war on anyone myself. on normal. they also send pretty decent armies and attack me regularly (siege AI still atrocious btw). i am playing as the carthaginian barcid dynasty, which gives me a slight disadvantage in diplomatic relations, but that can't be the reason, right?

Speaking of mods, has anyone else tried Hyrule: Total War for Medieval 2? It looks...incredibly exhaustive. But looks can be very deceiving. o_o

There are so many insanely good mods for m2 I wouldnt be surprised if it was the real deal. It probably is the real deal.

It depends on the faction you are playing. Carthage and epirus are factions that get DoW a lot, whether it is played by you or the AI. Epirus is quite insane when it comes to DoW ^^

The trailers look incredibly promising, but...with Rome II, we know how much we should trust them, lol. X-D

What mod is this ? Really nice, family trees and characters with soul at last )

Doubt it's a mod, it looks like a mock up of what the game would look like with Shogun 2 style UI. It does look about a thousand betters than the crap the game shipped with that's for sure

yup ,just realized that there no close window option on all the windows there, its a shame a developers didnt came up with something like that. well, going back to rome 1 with EB.

Does anyone know if there is a big mod project for RTW2 that is currently in progress? I'm talking about a major mod, much like EB.

I don't know abut that but the way mods are working in RTW2 right now it lends itself to a much more modular style of modding. There are a couple mods that change the combat mechanics (close combat radious ) there are a few that revamp factions (hellenic league allies reform Realistic marian reforms) and a bunch of reskins about as well. Special shotout to Graphic enhancemend mod (GEM) as it adds some really nice graphic tools.
It'll probably require a bit more calming down on whats changeing before the really big projects start coming out. CA have said that they will be releaseing modding tools as we go down the line.

Thanks, I also found total war realism but we don't know what it will address yet

Apparently Patch 5 beta is coming tomorrow, and it will include "DLC" (probably the Seleucids).
Anyway, I'm up to about 90 settlements on my Rome campaign. I'm running around with 15 full stacks of Tier 3/4 units, sending groups of 4-5 of them at an opponent at once. For the most part, I'm just autoresolving my battles as I run through everyone like shit through a goose.
One thing that is bothering me is how difficult it is to get other nations to become client states. It should be a lot easier to outright buy the smaller factions (what the hell else am I going to do with $40k+ per turn), particularly when you are so much more powerful than them. Also, military allies are too stupid to make peace with factions that you convert into client states after a war.

A large part of the Client State problem for me is how they are formed combined with the Province system.
All to often a factions last city is also the last one in a Province and by making them a client state both parties are screwed over leaving half a province that is useless for both sides. They really need to expand the diplomatic options with client states so that you can gift them city's to make whole provinces.
Plus ofc the awesome feeling when they instantly declare war on you again the turn after you annex them and they get a free army stack, not much of a deal late but its super annoying early.

Ive had it as Rome a lot of times if I try to Client state the Etruscen League or whatever there called who you start at war with. They just declare war and try to break away 1-2 turns later again

The "streamlined" diplomacy doesn't let you change the amount of talents you specifically want to offer/request. It's based on increments of 5-10% of your current treasury. That's why a faction will refuse a trade agreement with you plus a gift of 50k talents, only to have another offer you a defensive alliance for a measly few hundred if you spend yourself down to 3 digits.
