Well,...with a minor bug or two in the Prologue. Like shield-surfing armies, lol. ![]() In any case, this game is finally becoming fun in the way we all hoped it would be. ![]()

They're still fixing things up even though it's much better than what it used to be. By the time Steam puts it on sale, it should have enough patches to be fully worth playing.

I just don't understand that sort of behaviour. Why didn't they just release it NOW, instead of when it was broken, and not have all the bad publicity. They would have gotten all the money they got a few months ago, and more. Instead now they got a bunch of people waiting for it to go on sale, like i always do with games that are broken on launch.

Welcome to Publishers and deadlines. Its almost never the developer who decided when a game is released.

It's sad, you would think the shareholders/ CEOs involved in these decisions would actually think with a modicum of intellect and realise that the sales of a PC game and all future games in its series are heavily related to the quality, and that they are losing millions upon millions of pounds by forcing it out a little earlier.

Really? overall it's just really damn funky. the only genuine advantage someone gets from buying a legit copy of the game rather than pirating is patching and game support.

Editor pressure due to stockholders pressure (and/or creditors). As always. Even though I agree with you, it is easy to understand that stock holders have little understanding of how a buggy game can hurt future sales and will cost damage control etc. It's simple truth for us gamers, it is not for someone that doesn't play video game but knows only interest rates, statistics, when debts have to be paid etc. From their perspective, they see they invested X and analysts predict Y return on it. If X starts to get too high, they may very well want to stop pouring money in and start to harvest Y asap. And you can't even blame them when press reviewers give the game high scores, which is probably their main source for public opinion. Imagine yourself financing a Noh theater troop in Japan (which is a subject I guess you know nothing about), you think its best to release it soon because you need the money early even though some of the actors say they are not entirely ready. But in the end critics would give high praise of the show even though some people warned you , you'd probably think you're doing it right. If stockholders would be happier for the game being released early it is not a hard stretch to imagine Sega wanting to content them and asking for CA to push the release date. I would have a hard time believing the developers themselves weren't aware of the product not being finished. When you also factor in the human factor (pride, stupidity, power struggles, individuality, etc.) of the whole system in charge, it's really not that surprising. Hell, the massive patching probably was even planned in the budget. Might even be a deal with their editor: Ok we'll release early but let us patch it in return.

edit: Probably have to go back to modding this but the fact so many updates are still pending its too much of a hassle honestly... Actually in MTW2 and Shogun, I used mods but still I think the vanilla AI was a bit more expansionist even for the smaller factions.
