Speaking of provincial growth, has anyone fully maxed out a provincial capital? I'm trying for the "Rome wasn't built in a day" achievement.

EDIT: Noticing the Patch 4 changes already. Diplomacy map has your faction in white now, and the strength of other factions' feelings towards you is gradual; more transparency is lower strength, and more solid is higher.

Victory!!!

I got an economic win on Hard difficulty for my first victory; it was simply easier to get because I was already bringing in over 80k gold per turn. It appears the other victory conditions are still present to be achieved as well after the winning screen.

A warning: campaign map speed dropped significantly in the late-game. I had less than 30 factions on screen, but it took almost 3-4 minutes after each turn for the A.I. to cycle through everyone.

I learned that maxing out agents is only good for the achievements, and you will spend forever and a day getting them to that point. The agents and their states are my favorite new part about this game so far; I love how innovative yet recognizable CA made them, traditional yet new.

The patch must be working because I finally saw what an army in Raiding mode looks like. The A.I. does seem to have improved very, very slightly on the campaign map.

Sleeping now. That campaign took far too long to accomplish....

I'm having a lot of fun playing as Macedon in a co-op campaign.
Too bad to hear about the turn times. I hate that.

When I completed my sparta campaign I didn't notice any turn speed or anything at all. It actually seemed to be lower for me since the majority of the playable factions were ones I had eliminated.

So I started a new campaign with Patch 4 beta with Rome (legendary). Squalor and food are still problematic. You basically can only afford to upgrade a few settlements/provinces beyond tier 2. You'll have to leave the vast majority at tier 2 to avoid stacking the penalties. Some factions are building decent armies and some factions are still building tier 1 trash. I'm not sure what the problem is. Generally, the Celtic/British factions seem to build the most competitive armies. The barbarian factions north of Greece build crap. I'm not entirely what the African desert factions are buildings, but it looks like a lot of crap unless large shield warriors are supposed to be good.

Anyway, the game is much improved from where it was at release, but it still needs some work.

Been having a lot of fun useing radius's combat mod the hellenic unit remake when I want to be a greek faction and then useing the massalia update when I want to play them. The misallia remake is really cool beacuse you get to play greco galic units against the barbarian hordes rome and carthage pretty fast.

Also play rome use 6 legionaries and then just full wardogs. its hilariously overpowered against he ai when you attack with wardogs. you can't physically attack the dogs and they'll swarm over the unit and when they start flanking units they'll just tear them apart one by one. when the unit routs at some point they're really efficient at killing each and everyone of the routing units.

Build Colosseum in your province capitol for happiness, build happiness temples and farms in your other villages.
Select 1 province at the start to contain your army building. Expand the number to move provinces are you expand and can afford to. The farms produce a ton of food which is consumed by your temples/colosseum leaving enough for max province growth (think it was 15 surplus) while you have enough happiness to go above tier 2 city's.

Yeah, I always put the +happiness commerce building in my provincial capitals. Teching to tier 4 takes a while, though.

No, it has some problems for sure they are being fixed and I still have a lot of fun playing.

Yeah, it fundamentally is a good game. It's going to improve drastically over the next few months as bugs and gameplay issues are addressed. I'm sure that there will be at least one totally kickass mod as well before too long.

i realise im extremely late to the party, but i got rome total war 1 with the Europa Barbarorum mod.

apparently it was how Rome 2 was meant to be according to the die hard fans. i must say its been extremely good so far.
One time that happened and I just stopped everything, selected the offending SCV, hit Cancel, moved it over to my Barracks, made a Marine, had the Marine shoot it to death, then left the game.

Add it to your wishlist on Steam and wait patiently for a sale. It's worth it, but not in its current state. By the time it gets a discount, it'll have enough patches to run smoothly.

Will/has CA released a method to use Steam Workshop for Rome II? The pop-up for Shogun II that let you mix and match which mods you wanted to use was excellent and should return if at all possible.

Will/has CA released a method to use Steam Workshop for Rome II? The pop-up for Shogun II that let you mix and match which mods you wanted to use was excellent and should return if at all possible.

Theres this thing called the mod manager that a user created that all the modders are useing to manage their mods.

The mods for Rome 2 have been hella lightweight too. They had a mod conference and the people their said that they could manage their own mods and wanted more attention to make it easier for them to mod things.

Are there any tech/skill trees for agents/generals yet?

I can't find out how to skill my champions in order to get military training bonusses. I'm sure I've seen them but its impossible to find the path to it.

I'm not sure that you can skill them to get the military training bonuses if they don't start with the bonus when you recruit them.

I'm 100% sure it was possible in the first patch, it was crazy OP no doubt but I'm sure I had them. There's still no full skill tree I can find anywhere? Would be quite helpful to see what you can actually get on characters.
