I can't find out how to skill my champions in order to get military training bonusses. I'm sure I've seen them but its impossible to find the path to it. I'm not sure that you can skill them to get the military training bonuses if they don't start with the bonus when you recruit them. I'm 100% sure it was possible in the first patch, it was crazy OP no doubt but I'm sure I had them. There's still no full skill tree I can find anywhere though?
There is a skill tree inside the game in the Encyclopedia, Click on characters and select the one you want to see

Military training bonuses for champions are a trait not a skill iirc. asap put your champion in an army, should get the trait.

There are also a few starting skills that do give it but as said i dont think there is any in the normal skill tree.

You have to follow the Zeal path if you want Champs to get traits that provide XP bonuses, I think. Authority may or may not have another. I may write up a simple tree if I find the chance.
aXa, talk to me, bro. Would love a friendly tourney between us. I can help organize and even commentate and post to YouTube if folks are interested.

yes, it's there for champions.
Zeal path --> warfare --> experience training. always that route , tend to specialize my other agents but not the champions, always the training.

I guess we'll just have to find enough people. 6 minimum would be nice

Easiest way I can see to do this is with a poll.
Poll: In-house TL Rome II tournament?Count me in! (5) 71% No, thanks. (2) 29% 7 total votes Your vote: In-house TL Rome II tournament? (Vote): Count me in! (Vote): No, thanks.
PM aXa and/or I, or spam this thread, if you're interested, as well as general availability. Sundays or Mondays work best for myself.

With a 4th patch in a month including 175fixes I guess it's still not time to consider really starting to play :X But at least it seems they really work on it.

I really like the close combat mod . It fixes the formation problems of befoe where your army would mosh pit inward in a charge . It also balances out heavy infantry well

So I finally got my Civil War with Rome (legendary). It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Only 9 loyalist armies spawned (What determines the number? The imperium level? I was at level 3). I bottled them up in Italia pretty well and they spent the first few turns starving out until they seized the province. I sacrificed three, full-stack veteran armies and 2 full stack navies to whittle down their forces and prevent them expanding until I was able to mass sufficient strength to clean everything up. It was basically over by years 6 and 7. It's now turn 8, and all that's left one little mini-stack loyalist army that I'm hunting down.
|
One other thing that surprised me: AI military allies are pretty smart. During my Civil War, I had to pull most of my forces back into Italy to kill the loyalists. I still had a fairly active war going on in Africa at the time. Nonetheless, I didn't lose any settlements because my two AI allies down there guarded me and even killed off rebels that spawned.

Imperium level 3 is what pushes your faction into civil war, yes. Once you get close to that level, you'll have a turn or two before the war breaks out in full, so it is possible to plan for it. Don't be like me and have all your armies halfway across the map from your capital, lol. It's not difficult, but it's less easy to get rid of the opposing nobles.
I'm unsure how the families play a role in that, however. Surely they do; I can't imagine losing Court Nobles doesn't affect anything of that nature.
EDIT: And be careful of allies getting overzealous with their "aid" to you. After I storm through a dozen settlements and start losing them to slaves thanks to low public order, it's really easy for an A.I. ally to come through behind me and retake the settlements with minimal resistance. Then you're stuck with multiple armies (high upkeep), fewer settlements, and allies strong enough to potentially think, "Hmm, that one player doesn't look so tough now that our military and economic strength aren't horrible...." X-D
|
Imperium level 4 makes the civil war automatic, not level 3. Level 3 only makes it possible for there to be a civil war based upon other factors and built in probabilities. I was probably at imperium level 3 for 30-40 turns before the war broke out.
|
Whoops, my bad. Didn't count level 1 since you have to be pretty much dead in the water if you're at that level, lol.
|
We need at least 2 more participant to make our tourney ! Come on and join, it'll fun !
|
Well, I hadn't included myself, lol..... X-D I'll post something via the Steam page too.

is anyone else having to deal with weirdly aggressive AI after the latest patch? my buddie and me were playing a coop-campaign (which finally works for us without desyncing cause we found out we had to use the same language... -.-) on normal difficulty, and literally every faction we encountered would declare war on us within 5 turns of meeting them. i know that the AI gangs up on you pretty badly on higher difficulties, but i didnt expect it on normal. also, cataphracts are fucking bullshit.

Just thicken up your legion squares and mix in aux units like spear gladiators and what you can get from the greek and thracian regions.
I'm really loveing counter attacking equtines fireing draco after overloading the flanks. who says hammer and anvil is dead.

I never bother with any skirmishers or even any ranged units other than taking along a few ballistas. I'm sure that it will work even better when I finally get my Seleucids and cataphracts.
