Btw, where can you see corruptions percentage or whatever? In the province tab, its at the bottom left corner along with slave population and tax rates.

I've switched sides and I'm firmly on the javelin side of the missile troops argument. Peltests have the armor to withstand slings and arrows / have armor periceing so they can face down and outrace heavy infantry.
Currently have an army which is my favorite where I have Spartans in a checkerboard square formation front line phalanx formation mid line and free formation backline where the peltests can freely run around and harry away the enemy troops moral until The spartans hold strong and the enemy dies in a fire.
until I ran into that horse archer steppe nomad army what the fuck how do you do anything to that.

So how does influence/politics/promotion mechanics work?
Horse archers, hm. Regular/light cavalry?

The only calv units that I have as a hellenic faction (macedon/sparta) is citizen calv that don't have spears but swords that can't really do much to smash them and nothing else is fast enough. skirmisher calv with javs are terrible and anything serious I can get is too slow to make a difference.
My hardcore hammer and anvil full phalanx and calv army can do It I guess but I'll be running heavy calv at light calv.
Prince of macedon said it was important to just waste the ammo of the archers and then win by default with them unable to beat you.

I'm seeing people talk about beta patches and having a bunch of glitches...guess I should hold off on buying this? lol have they actually gone backwards in patches?

I did a custom battle of AI berserkers vs (I think it was Parthian) horse archers. The horse archers ended up running out of ammo and losing, I think. Berserkers have high morale, though (but almost no armor?).
No, the patches are great, but yes, the latest one does have a few bugs, which is why it's still in beta.

berserkers die really hard to Royal peltists with a little micro of attacking forward launching their super pella and then running backward until you can fire again before moving into the fight.
So I guess Royal peltsts all day every day. I'm going to try this out against roman legionars it might be pretty crazy.

In what world do you live in where beta patches don't have glitches? My god even GTAV has bugs, people just don't complain as much.

Rome II's made the game virtually unplayable for people who had anything short of an IBM supercomputer. Are GTAV's bugs doing the same? (I'm not trying to sound snarky; I'm honestly curious)

I wasn't aware an i5 2500k and a gtx 770 was an IBM supercomputer. I'll go contact them though and let them know that I'll charge hourly for my processing power. Aka I have no issues. And my computer isn't anywhere near that good. Nice to see such massive over exaggeration though.

I play with directx10 all low settings (medium army size) and it's fine. I really like the fact that it's hard to max out. It will still look really pretty years down the road.

I meant on day 1, with relation to GTAV's more recent release. Even attila16 occasionally ran into lag spikes within the first week Rome II was out. The patches have improved things significantly since then.
EDIT: Don't remember where it is in the video, but he mentions that he notices the laggy bit in this episode.

An answer to the question would be nice. Are there still a lot of issues yet to be worked out?
|
Yes.
And the game hasn't just performance issues, it has mainly bugs and braindead AI (haven't played since patches though doubt it was really fixed)... and some features I'm really unhappy with either because they are missing or not fleshed out.
I've just put that game on hold until at least 2 or 3 weeks for devs to get patchs and modders to fix some other stuff. Don't know if it will be enough to give me the experience I wanted. As long as I get a good experience in the coming weeks, I'm not really frustrated though since I basically bought the game at a sale price (45$ DLC included), doubt it will get a lot cheaper than that before at least christmas.

My current Egyptian campaign was going smoothly until a civil war broke out. It didn't help that the rebels out numbered me from the get go, and the fact my army was all the way in Mesopotamia ready to conquer the former Seleucid Empire's puppets. Now all I can do is weep as rebellions and food shortages decimate my meager forces.
My Macedonian Empire fell to civil war, now my Egyptian. I'm so sad QQ
On the bright side, the battles are a lot more intense because they actually have decent armies and more of them.

Civil Wars seem a bit ridiculous. I don't see how 10 20/20 armies can just crop up in the middle of your empire out of nowhere. It would make more sense if your active armies split off into factions or something.

Yep wanted to try the same on my Egypt campaign, unfortunately Rome was already down to just 1-2 cities so not much left to test since it's remaining stack was really low quality.
Having good fun with Egypt and like my Macedon campaign as well. Egypt can get cracking on the technologies quite hard with the buffs they receive (10%) and the 3-4 relatively safe provinces they can get quickly. Royal barracks and kill everything in sight.
Recently started to incorporate either Giant ballista's or heavy onagers in my new army, love em. They hit really hard and no more need to send my men out to throw Molotov's at city gates that have scorpion towers.
I wish there would be some option other than simply declaring war in the diplomacy button to stop the endless " trade agreement" spam from some factions. No , mr. 1 city Sardes, for the millionth time, I do not wish to pay 26k for a trade agreement that will give me + 150 per turn.
Have yet to try and of the barbarian factions (Iceni, Averni and Suebi). They have less appeal for me, are they any fun to play ?

Did you specifically choose directx10 or that just comes with which graphic settings you chose? In other words, how do I know if I am using dx10 or dx11 and how can I choose?

To say it's badly optimized is an understatement, but that's also as far as it goes. I was able to run the game smoothly on low on my laptop so it definitely isn't as bad as some people want to make it.
