I strongly disagree. Did you play the beta? XIV 2.0 follows the contemporary models for MMORPGs in terms of gameplay speed, leveling, instance-based group content, etc. Summary info on welcome back campaign, veteran sub rewards (based on accumulated sub time), and world transfer service: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/topics/detail?id=10982e2b30371a138e97d0f6bf198b0ef6c9c8dc Full translated Q&A responses: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/62880-Letter-from-the-Producer-LIVE-Part-VIII-Q-A-Updates

Gilgamesh is the main hangout of the reddit group and was the most populated server in phase 3 beta. Also the server where i easily met a lot of cool and easy-going individuals though i don't think that's exclusive to any one server at all. I will probably join a Vancouver linkshell/company for a while just because i'm living in that city. You're all welcome to join or group with me~ They'll be using mumble probably, but i'll be spending my time pumping fishing and trades for a while before diving into leveling content; saving the best for last, you know? :'D. There's a housing system for both you and your guild (possible seperately) somewhat like PSO i'd imagine.. so i'm guessing there will be a rush for both content and gil to make all of that possible as quickly as possible. I plan on taking it easy though to make it more enjoyable for my friends joining me for open beta as they may or may not be staying for game release. For the poster above, i've never played WoW much but ffxiv is quite immersive as you'd expect. The support team for the game is interested in addressing issues we raise but have their own exciting plans for current and future content--that much was made very transparent by their game director. I understand that there have been a lot of WoW-clones over the years. I've played them myself but never committed to the experiences. My subscription to ffxiv lasts for a month at the least, so why not make the most of it? : D At least beat the game, or make some friends... is what i think. I think you are guaranteed the price of the game in the amount of fun you'll have over the month with how good this game is. If you don't like the basic mechanics and progression of the game in any way, you have the open beta to decide anyway, and i think the two days that the beta will be up will be enough time for you to decide that for yourself.

What I mean is like - If you had a spectrum, with 0 being WoW and 10 being FF11, then FF14 would fall at like a 6, so in that way its closer to FF11 than WoW. That's not to say that it hasn't adopted many things from WoW, but to say there is nothing setting it apart would be overlooking quite a bit.

The beta also plays exactly like a tab-target mmo, a la wow, except less responsive. No ones played end game content yet so I cant see how anyone can judge the games difficulty. Judging a game on its lvling dungeon content's difficulty is seriously lol worthy. Somehow people need to feel accomplished for reaching max level? Leveling only takes time, not skill. End game content is where any skill is required. I dont understand where the too easy sentiment comes from.

During early period, get max level on first job takes around 2000-3000 hours of game play, no exp from quest, delvl, impossible to solo. As great as that was, it won't survive in current ages, especially in western market. Hardcore players are cool but can't keep a game afloat. You took the word right from my mind. What I didnt like was that the world isnt one big cohesive world, rather it is a bunch of mini world connected through a loading screen. I really dislike this because it make it feel less like an MMO everytime you enter a new zone. It also make the map some what confusing. Probably people who play FF11 will not mind this but for me, it was just a deal breaker.

I'd be willing to bet that any gear you get from varying difficulties looks the same, just with reduced/increased stats. I suppose beating it on hard should be it's own reward ;x

As much as casuals and hardcore players sound like they want to punch each other in face in forums without one the other would fail. You need to include both classes of players as much as possible. A very easy and huge way to do that is different difficulties of dungeons amongst other things.

I suppose it's hard to answer this without sounding very elitist, but no i don't agree on having varying difficulties for different types of players. I do however think it's very much possible to have easier content as you progress which is more accessible to casuals, but top end content should not be beatable by everyone imo. At least not so long as it's "new" content. Can always gear up and go back and beat it at a later date.
