EDIT: Also, I've read there is no VoIP in the game and PS3 doesn't have anything like Mumble to use, is that true? Cause if it is, I think the PC version is the superior way to play just because of that O_O
I heard that it's quite playable on PS3, and I tried 360 controller and it's pretty decent. Now, you do have to get a keyboard (text input only, action control is not supported) to communicate properly. There is no built in voice chat option though. While many linkshell / company likes to use voice chat, It's not really required. We run a multi nationality / region group and never used any voice chat, and that never got in our way.

I used controller and led group that had pretty much all the server firsts in Fabul/Balmung server, so it's definitely doable. Controller control is different in ARR than initial release, but for most part changes are for the better so it should improve. Though I do plan on to use keyboard / mouse more for ARR since I like the new input system.

So I made an account, when open beta starts i can just dl the client? Sorry, really want to try this game out before i decide to buy it or not and im really lost as to how to play the beta as early as possible

I think you actually need a beta key, not sure. Those who was in earlier beta can start beta 4 tomorrow, and new people need wait 1 more day.

Make no mistake about it... the 2.5 sec cooldown is exactly so controllers can be competitive with keyboards. I'll be using a controller on my PC to play, I did the same in FF11 and found it to be just as easy to use once you get used to it. The only real difference is that my PC will have way better graphics than my PS3.

Would have really liked a good combat system in this game, played it for 2-3 hours and couldn't stand the clunky, static combat :/ Would have tried it for a longer period with a f2p model, but don't wanna spend the full game price + monthly fee
