Ya I don't understand what the fuck they're doing. There is 0 information anywhere on if pre-orders that weren't in the earlier beta can even play in open beta. It's really pissing me off that I can't even find out if i'll be able to play tomorrow or not.

Well the whole term "Open Beta" means anyone can join. Except Preorder codes outside of Japan apparently can't be added til 20th August (not that they've even sent me a code, but at least the game shows in my Square Enix account). But nobody's going to be able to play over the weekend because the entire non-Japanese world will be downloading a 7GB client from SQE all at the same time. And it's not like they have a good track record of server stability and capacity.

preorder code has nothing to do with open beta, it's for early access, means you gets to start 2 days early when real release.

Go to my link on previous page, and see if you can log in with your account, if you can then you most likely can play tomorrow.and can start download the client now. If not, then wait for early access, which is what the code was for in the first place.

Yeah the references to a Code is justr confusing me though, since I definitely have a preorder (and an email from SQE confirming it) but haven't actually got a code to submit. Is it just because I purchased direct from SQE that they apply it automatically?

Either way, being annoyed I'm not playing a game is probably a "good" thing, because it means I want to be! Love bard classes in almost any game so can't wait to try this one

Eh, Japan's idea of beta is somewhat different from Western, which was a pretty loose concept in the first place. As someone working in software dev, beta means different thing every project that I've worked on here.

I don't know how the meaning of an Open Beta can change. It's a beta that's open, how is that subject to change? If it's not actually an open beta just continue calling it a closed beta.

Well the second will be disabled until you decide to pay for it, I would assume.

At least in initial release you can buy extra slot, and disable/not pay for them later, character data will be kept as well.

Its open to everyone tomorrow at like 5amest or something, the beta signups will reopen and it will be 'open' beta. It's not the same, true. As for the client just download the torrent if you cant get on the beta forums, theres links to it on the reddit subforum, lots of seeders etc, i dled at 2mb/s
