I've only played for a few days and I've had so many hilarious incidents. One of which caused me to form a friendship with another survivor.
-I spawn and I start heading up to a couple of hunting stands (3 within 300 meters of one another) to look for weapons. I climb up to the top and when I look back down there's a person standing there... He asks me, "So uhh, anything up there?"
I tell him to follow me to the next stand because nothing was in it. I let him go up first into the stand and then I follow, I take out my hatchet (I picked it up earlier in town) and then just start hacking away at him. I hit him at least 6 times and then I see him jump off the stand and he's actually running... didn't break a bone or anything. I'm too busy laughing my ass off to even follow at this point.
-A guy comes into the firehouse tower at cherno and as I turn around he's right there looking at me then tries going back down the stairs. I unload an entire clip of ak 47 ammo into him. He had everything from a DMR to blood packs to morphine.
-I respawn and start running around cherno just not giving a fuck and I picked up a 12 gauge from a house earlier. I run into a high value residential brick house and see 1 female with a cross bow turning a corner in the hallway into adjacent room...
I immediatly pop off a shot, I miss, I run into the room and see another person there with an M4... I just unload shells into both of them. Reload, and then I see a person spawn inside the room, I kill him too.
I need to start rolling with the TL crew in Dayz... i cant get my friends to play consistantly at all... i spend a full day getting gear for 3 people... then i die... and then start over along with my friends lol... and then ill have a tent and a reason to play more realistically...and not just...sprint find a gun... start killing people.
today's funny story: respawn at airfield... as im running to the small base on the south near the coast... i see a dude in all pimped out gear roll up on a quad. I am chilling in the trees, and he didnt see me. As soon as he jumps off the quad, kills some zombies, and jumps into the base... i book it for the quad and jack it... Rode it all the way through cherno and then to elektro... but then i started to run out of gas... spent 45 mins running around outskirts of elektro looking for jerry can... find one, go back to gas station where quad is parked... apparently u couldnt get gas at THAT gas station... hop back on and book it to cherno gas station... omw to cherno gas station i get a lag spike and ram face first into a destroyed parked car doing 92.... the quad exploded.... o well. (i stole a bus from some1 to..which was hilarious and slow...)
sidenote... i did a triple backflip on the quad... and made a clean landing... the game really isnt designed for you to use objects as ramps... as soon as i hit the jump i started flipping end over end... in first person it was TRIPPY lolol.. but i landed it and was like "LOL IM ALIVE!!!!"
tldr: Jacked yo bus, jacked yo quad, did a triple backflip...blew up.
Spawned in Cherno, hit up the military tents and looted an AK Kobra. Murdered a few people at the hospital, got a nice ALICE pack, biotics, and plenty of blood bags. Got my hands on a nice revolver. Killed another person and ran to the outskirts of Cherno to travel to the NW Airfield.
As I'm leaving I spot a dude sprinting in an open field.. I get closer and BOOM there's a bus parked down the road. The guy was too far for me to catch up with and kill so I run up to his bus to jack it... Only to find out there's a dude sitting in the driver seat. I freakin panic and shoot him in the face, immediately killing him. By this time his buddy is making his way back and I try to hide and ambush him... But he snuck around on the other side of the bus and took off. Disappointed, I run after the bus but it quickly disappears out of view. I follow the road for a few minutes even though I didn't think I could possibly find it... And MIRACULOUSLY I see the bus parked on the side of the road. I hop into that hoe when suddenly that guy from earlier runs out of the forest and jumps in. I demand him to get out in vehicle chat but he refuses, telling me "It's mine, I found it first."
I get out of the bus, aim my AK while he's chilling in his seat, and pop him in the face, killing him instantly.
I proceed to drive the bus and hide it somewhere.
TL;DR I got some good loot, murdered a couple people, and am the proud owner of a bus. Very productive night.
Edit: I love the weather in our server. The lightning is epic!

Just remember that it's against the rules to set a password on it, Rocket/the team will ban you from the central server if he finds out.
First life I got to the NW airfield with nothing in the darkness and got mowed down by a guy i never saw but i heard the sound of his L85. I did not stand a chance.
Second life I spawned east of elektro and instantly moved north to some barns and got myself a Winchester. as I left silently I got lit the fck up by a guy with an M4. Saw him and his buddies on the ridge before my character passed out with 2k health. They thought I was dead, Never make that mistake. When I woke up I had just enough time to but a perfectly aimed slug from my trusty 1866 straight through M4 guys head before I bled to death.
My third life I joined up with the teamliquid crew in Berezino. But as soon as I got there a guy with a .50 cal disapproved of his friend with a bizon getting sniped an opened up on the first person he saw, and of course that was me. I stood in the open and died because of it.
My fourth life I made it back to the TL crew and got some nice loot before i left for the night.

It kind of simulates how the eyes react to different light intensity levels. When you look at a forest when it's bright day, you'll notice everything there will be darker. Once you enter the forest, the game brightens everything up and you'll see everything outside way too bright. One thing that MIGHT help is turning off HDR completely but I'm not sure if that really does the trick, I think the game engine does that anyways.
I made a video flying a helicopter along the coast of the DayZ world. It gives players an overview of the places they will be spawning and how close each city is to each other. I labeled each place so you can tell what I am flying over.

So, i have to install both 8gig files off steam? Then what...? Given ive already: Installed OA; changed the launch path. Installed DayZ installer (and let it update) Installed the beta patch. Moved the beta launcher to overwrite the normal OA .exe

Yes. You need OA and Arma2 and then it turns into combined operations.
kk ty Trying to read beginners guides; and figuring out my gear and whatnot. Changing controls. But still cant figure out how to USE my flashlight or bandages or pain killers. :/

To use the flashlight you first have to right click it if you have it in the toolbelt. (The lower part of your invetory/gear) and press "remove from toolbelt" or something like that. That will place it in your main hand. When you have it in your main hand you just press L and it should light up.
Regarding bandadges and painkillers, you just right click them and click "Bandadge yourself" and "Use painkillers".
Ugh I wanna play this so bad. I'm fuckin' broke though. Great timing to have to pay for a divorce and move from 2 household incomes to 1. Fuck my ex (everyone else did! Zing!).
