Damn they should at least give us a knife or something when we start, this is annoying as hell. Am I supposed to run to a place where I can find a gun then shoot my way out?
You should be able to get to ALL loot without alerting a single zombie. You just have to be sneaky. Walking, crouch running, staying off roads (walking/crawling when you are on them), and using cover.

I prefer the sprint everywhere, alert everything option until you find a weapon.

Right-click the hatchet in your inventory to swap between weapon mode and tool mode (forgot what the actual wording in the game, but the choice will be obvious) .
The hatchet should be enough to get you to a gun of some sort. Also, the deer stands at the edges of the woods are good spots to check because they usually have some kind of rifle (first gun I found last game was an AK-74 with Kobra sight and 2 clips) and they are only guarded by a couple zombies that are easy to dodge/take out with the hatchet.

Me too. The fastest way to get going with some gear is this:
- Respawn until you get a spawn near cherno or elektro.
- Run around (with C) until you find a weapon. It's not really worth paying attention to zombies since you can just run through a building (the bigger red and orange houses) and lie down when you're through to get rid of all of them. Most of the time you just lose them somewhere between the buildings.
- Try to not get hit by zombies so they can't break your bones. If that happens you have to respawn.
- If you have a gun you should start being more careful because you now have something to lose. Use crouch and try to avoid zombies if possible. Don't shoot if you can avoid it. Sometimes the zombie respawns are still buggy and you don't want to alert other players either.
- Go to the fire stations and stores to get a rifle.
- Go to a hospital or medical tents to get morphine.
- Get out of the city. Done.
That should take about 10-20 minutes if you know the cities. Yesterday I still had my bandage/painkillers and 11700 blood when I got out of the city, armed with M1911 and Winchester, enough ammo, morphine, food, drinks and 4 blood bags.

Just hoard EVERYTHING until you have too much (like we do)
We have about 30 painkillers, 20+ blood bags, 20+ morphine, about 30+ guns, ammo for all of them, 4+ of each tool, tons of food, tons of drinks, and about 6 or 7 vehicles
We die without worry, as our buddies can just pick us up, and get us loaded... we do NW airfield runs 2-3 times per day, and go vehicle-part hunting a few times a day
In fact, one of us (Dare), is on the leaderboards on dayzmod.com with most zombie kills (all-time, and alive)
edit: as for the tent wipe, we stored everything in the trucks until about 2 hours ago when we made about 15 tents and starting dumping half our stuff (never leave everything in 1 place)

a few questions:
- how exactly can i use blood packs on my friend? just right clicking in the inventory doesn't work
- if we build a tent and stuff everything we got in it, then die and respawn, are we able to just equip ourselves with everything again? it only works on the same server, right?
- we have lots of supplies and relatively good guns atm, should we head for NW straight or equip ourselves further? what are other hotspots besides NW?

I'm glad to see Arma 2 getting it's due. Owner for several years now and it's only coming off the HD once Arma 3 goes in. Arma 2 and X3 Terran Conflict(with XRM) are the reason I don't play enough SC 2. Modded of course. They helped me quit the wow-crack as well(wink). I really need to check this out firsthand.

- Scroll wheel for EVERYTHING from accessing ALICE packs to blood transfusions to turning the lights on in a vehicle
- Tents are server-side, which means it'll only be on 1 server (the server you make it on)... Make sure you save your tents so when the server gets restarted (to refresh RAM and other things) you don't lose the tent
- Stary Sober, ALL of the airfields, and everything near the NW airfield (like Vybor, Novy, etc, due to passer-bys)
NOTE: DO NOT go to the NW airfield unless you're damn near 100% sure you'll make it out alive / without a loss of supplies. It's THE most dangerous place on the entire map, and as such, i highly recommend you just store your stuff in tents/vehicles, and go when it's night/less populated, and try to recognize who is not a threat (aka, truces/someone who just died/someone who just talked about cherno/elektro/somewhere NOT at the airfield), and who is a threat (enemies/bandits/people you don't recognize)

Once again I was running in the middle of the forest with an M4 CCO and all survival gear and I dropped dead. I guess for no apparent reason, the server killed everyone. That really makes me not want to play this game any more.

I think some people are playing the wrong game. I saw a guy that was chased by like 10 zombies climb a deer stand. He fired some shots but then stopped, so I tried to help him by aggroing the zombies for him (I had recently spawned so I had nothing). I ran around with the zombies after me and the player shot at me repeatedly and managed to kill me. Congrats?

Yeah I spawned outside of elektro and walked into the grocery and there was a guy just sitting in the corner with a makarov. He starts shooting at me as soon as he sees me, and I tell him over direct chat that I don't have any items and that shooting at me is a waste of bullets. So he starts shooting again. It's kind of ridiculous, and I honestly don't know what changed, but people didn't used to just kill people because they could.

Why is it so hard to find cars to repair? We've checked probably 20 different locations/servers and couldn't find one. I've only ever seen one repairable car (the red one at Stary Sobor).
