Man I just got this game a few days ago but I love it, been playing it when I get bored of MFing in inferno D3.
Today I had a sick run before I got dc'd and called it quits:
Was in Electro, nighttime, found myself a LeeEnfield with 3 clips. I don't know what building I was in, but it was the one that is 3 stories tall and has a lot of rooms in it with loot. I heard some dude creeping below me, and I set up ready to blow him away when he went up the stairs. I think he heard me too, because I could hear him move a few steps and then go prone, move a few, etc. I finally heard him get up again (maybe thinking I was gone, I never moved) and heard him leave the building. Watched him go across the street into a store which had a grip of loot on the ground, and was taking aim. He saw me getting ready, and went prone inside behind some of the aisle things, and I saw him peak inbetween two and took my shot, wasn't sure if I got him, but then I got a message "X has died". I waited a good 20-30 seconds to see if I aggro'd any zeds, and I didn't. Went downstairs to make my way across the street, pulled out my pistol incase I got zed aggro and didn't want to aggro the whole town with my LE. As I came into the shop, there was another guy looting my kill! He opened fire and I took cover behind the counter, switched to my LE, and shot him in the head.
I found a camping tent, Czech Pack, and a GRIP of ammo like 9 clips, hunting knife, binoculars, and a grip of other nice stuff (for a noob like me). This game has such an adrenaline rush!

Dang that sounds fucking awesome.
I haven't started playing yet, and I'm wondering how, in a max. 50 people server, people seem to encounter others all the time. Is it because people tend to aggregate in towns? Or is the map not as big as it initially seems?

There is usually at least a few guys in the two big cities of the south coast (Cherno and Elektro), because there are several spawns near those cities. When going there, you should always expect company. When going north, you can never know when someone is close, which is part of what makes this game awesome. I remember not too long ago, me and a couple friends were running in a forest near some small town, and we randomly encountered 3 people who apparently were not in a group. Two of them got away but we managed to kill one, and he had an m4 with a lot of ammo, which was pretty nice.

The map itself is huge though, it seems most people are on the coast and/or airfield.

Five man loot raids into major cities last night. This game is much fun. MUCH fun.
Made a 2 man slow crawl loot run to a supermarket with our friends spotting from afar. Didn't find much of use, but it was such a thrill. 7 zombie kills later and I'm still kicking, and I have a watch!
I'm a noob, but I've heard stories over vent of frequently running into people. I came across two people yesterday (playing solo), and tried to befriend them, they wanted me to go away, but I didn't really leave and they capped me. After playing in a group later on, I can now see why they shot me.

Day 9 of survival
I'm still in the north. I'm basically on my own now, shit is getting dangerous. Other squad members have been having difficulty getting good gear and making it to my location. I'm down to 5 tins of beans and 6 cans of pepsi. I'm heading into berezino tonight when it gets dark tonight and hitting up both supermarkets. With NVGs and silenced weapons its not the zombies or FNGs im worried about. It's an experienced bandit who hunts my server, he has at least 7 confirmed kills on members of my squad and he is also kitted out to the max, also with a sniper however....
Im going to go to both Supermarkets then head south to meet up with a squadmember who is near solnichy. From their we hope to head west and meet up with the rest of the squad who are travelling north to zelenogorsk. lets see what happens...Maybe we will go to NW airfield..

How the hell did you not aggro zombies with a Lee Enfield? That thing is like a siren.
+1 for playing at Night time in a big city without NVGs, that stuff's scary

Just finished a little team liquid base on Dallas 23, and the tents duplicated so now we have a tent containing 30 tents so we are set for the future i belive.

Your best bet for a CZ550 is checking barns. Specifically, the white buildings with sloped red roofs. http://picacid.com/arma2/imgs/Land_stodola_old_open.jpg

Iv found several and I havnt been able to play much at all. They are not that good unless you want to PK alot. Come to think of it I think iv found almost every one in a barn :p

Darkenergy, it all depends on the spawn location. If you find glock and M9SD, I assume you hang out mostly in airfields and firestations, maybe hunting posts. None of these actually drops the CZ, even though they drop better snipers (m24 and DRM for a start). As said above, you'll find CZ in barns and such.

Yes I have been up North and back and visited allot of barns in the process. Well luck of the draw I guess. God I am getting tired of people spamming the shit out of the servers hive is having allot of problems lately. Please wait 5-10 min. been almost an hour about to give up

I must really suck at this game. I haven't found any weapons. Usually just food, flares, and a chem light. It is actually pretty difficult to do anything on your own. Everyone just wants to kill me. I also have a nasty habit of aggroing every zombie in a half mile radius when I am kneeling trying to make my way into a town.

Bought ArmA 2 today and installed DayZ but cannot connect intO ANY of the servers with my friend. Every server goes "Waiting for server response"

Hope this post helps you a bit.
This might help you in your search for some good loot

As for the pvp if you enter a city especialy the coastal one cherno electro you should accept that you have a good chance of getting shot. survivors will sometimes shoot on sight other times they will ask in chat whats up with you or if the location you in has any "friendly's" if you do not respond or do not keep a good eye on chat you increase the odd you get shot by allot.
on to the agro. to your right there is and visual and sound indicator u want to keep an eye on that when u are in a location with zeds. for example you make more noise when you walk on a road instead on grass. zeds have sight and if you pass to close infront of them you wil get agro but if you keep your noise down you can pass behind them at extreme close range. just use crouch and shift(makes you walk) to navigate trough them.

Because of the popularity of the mod (meaning the main aka hive servers are overloaded) combined with buggy code the servers are running on it is difficult to successfully join servers especially on peak hours. This is compounded by people who spam connections or leave quickly meaning the server/hive server has to handle a request that the game dropped and probably is creating a new request on the same or another server makes this FUBAR.
When you see "Waiting for server response" it is trying to load your char from hive to the server you are playing on. Wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before backing out because as i said earlier hive still has to process your now ghost if you back out resulting in the problem you are so frustrated about.

I just read all 40 pages of this. I am going to buy it. I cannot wait. Keep posting stories!

On June 06 2012 06:40 Crais wrote: I just read all 40 pages of this. I am going to buy it. I cannot wait. Keep posting stories! So I bought the game 3 or 4 days ago and I'm playing either alone or with a friend. I just logged in where I left earlier today, somewhere north of Nadezhdino. I'm alive now for two days and I collected some useful stuff: ghillie suit, alice pack, revolver, winchester and so on. Nothing special but I get around quite well. I decided to check out Stary Sobor since I heard there's some decent loot there. I approach the town from the south but decide to go around it to the north, the buildings in the south didn't look interesting. So I'm travelling around the town checking the area with my binoculars every few minutes and everything seems quiet, bunch of zombies but no players. I start looting the first building and unfortunately aggro a zombie on the ground while on the roof of some huge depot building. I kill it and get off the roof but the first shot aggroed two more zombies. I proceed to kill those as well and decide to hide in the nearby forest for a few minutes to see if anybody heard the shots but there's nothing in sight. So I head into the military camp which is absolutely stacked with zombies. I'm approaching the first tent and BAM a bullet hits me. A few more bullets hit the ground next to me and I'm freaking out. There's a sniper somewhere shooting at me and I have no idea where he is. And I can't shoot back anyway since the zombies would just eat me alive. I jump behind a bush next to me and I see small flashes of light coming from the forest where I had been hiding just two minutes ago. I'm down to 6k blood from full 12k and bleeding. The sniper is still shooting in my direction as I quickly bandage myself to stop the bleeding. I also take some painkillers to stop the shaking. Looking around, zombies everywhere, no cover other than a wall a few meters away. I crouch towards the wall praying. I don't want to die. I make it to the wall, safely. The sniper stopped shooting. But still, there is no escape. I can't run because of the zombies and there's no cover beyond this wall in either direction. I start to crouch along the wall and look through a gap in the wall. Everything is quiet. I proceed to wait for like 10 more minutes checking every direction but nobody is there. So I managed to sneak out eventually.
In retrospect, I remember I saw a few dead zombies when I arrived which already revealed that I wasn't alone. But I think the real mistake was shooting the three zombies and still going into the camp.
Well, lesson learned. And damn this game is scary at times, I love it.
