But people get baited into it by calling the games mmoRPGs, and in the case of WoW having actual RP servers (where noone ever RPs, because noone reacts to people RPing). As someone who enjoys PnP RPGs, i always found it annoying how noone on the RP server i joined ever RPd. I learned to accept it and simply not do it myself either, but i still think that an MMORPG in which people actually immerse themselves and try to act in character would be simply amazing. Sadly that will never happen, because a lot of people are incapable of grasping the concept of actually playing a character instead of using the ingame character as an extension of yourself, and sadly those same people are also incapable of NOT joining an RP server even when there are 3 RP servers and 50 non-RP servers. And they are incapable of NOT interfering with people who try to RP by jumping around them shouting LOLOLOLOL.

They just need to have the balls to force people to RP on RP servers and to not break character. Make the disclaimer so huge when joining an RP server that people can't cop out and claim ignorance. If people don't RP then forcibly remove them from the server and put them on another one of their choice.

I know UO used to have solid rp communities hell even some of the scumbag thieves and pkers on occasion where entertaining in a rp kinda way. Man, people too serious to just say fuck it and play the inner bard khajiit they want to be.

In the end it mostly comes down to the community. It is no doubt it has gotten worse. Still ESO has so much potential. The game is really immersive if you know a little of the vast Elder Scrolls background.

Personaly ( i am a guy who plays PnP RPG and LARPs since like 15 years) i dont play MMO for roleplaying part. I play it for pvp for the challange, to be best and beat the shit out of Your enemies. If You want good Role Playing experience big servers are NO NO. Just choose something small where dedicated group of people spends their time that way. Sad truth is, You have to put a lot of effort in good role playing, effrort that could be put into being better at the game. So its a choice between being competitive and good roleplaying.

Basically, if you want a cool generic MMO PvE experience in the Elder Scrolls setting then you should have fun! Not suited for anything else.

I mean they made me change my hib elf rangers name Parnthalos(not elfy enoughI dunno..) back in the day. Major props to those guys for giving a damn but at this day and age trying to force people to rp on rp servers is akin to trying to stop a flood with a bucket. Not to mention the types of rp you can find that most would find.. questionable(The things I've read in user profiles on moonguard can turn a mans stomach yo) I know UO used to have solid rp communities hell even some of the scumbag thieves and pkers on occasion where entertaining in a rp kinda way. Man, people too serious to just say fuck it and play the inner bard khajiit they want to be. In UO GMs would often oversee character interactions and reward you with exp and stuff if your RP was good.

If you have a small amount of creativity, it is pretty easy to immerse yourself into a character, as long as you don't take yourself too serious (which is where this need to start laughing usually originates from, the need to assert yourself that you can obviously not do something as silly as trying to act like a fictional person). True, i am talking mostly about PnP games, but it should also be possible in an MMO especially if that MMO is actually designed in a way that encourages RP instead of going out of its way to avoid it.

Conditioning - Increases Max Stamina by 4% Red Diamond - Melee attacks have a 10% chance to restore 2 Health Shield Affinity - Increases experience gained with the One-Handed and Shield Skill Line by 15% Tough - Increases Max Health by 4% Doesn't look like anything game-breaking, but well, same old thing applies with the pay wall.

I've had guildies be forced in a namechange and I myself had to come up with a nice explanation for my warlock's name at the time. Not to mention anyone who tried to interrupt roleplaying (even if it was just talking on /2) in a non-RP manner was told to gtfo and ignored if he/she continued. Having a smashed warrior suddenly rush in, get naked and start /yelling at people was all right, and breaking charater had to be done with a good reason. In the end it mostly comes down to the community. It is no doubt it has gotten worse. Still ESO has so much potential. The game is really immersive if you know a little of the vast Elder Scrolls background. Some of the shit in ESO completely violates Elder Scrolls lore. That's why alot of hardcore ES fans hate it.
