Because yeah, that makes perfect sense for buying a code...

Because yeah, that makes perfect sense for buying a code... You can make an account with a fake US address. Just google the relevant info. Also, pick a state without amazon sales tax. This might help: http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=468512 I did this before with other games on amazon and it worked out. Dark Souls is well worth your 20 bucks and GL!

Because yeah, that makes perfect sense for buying a code... I just filled in whatever, got myself a zip code from texas and it worked fine. I even listed my country as the netherlands... Anyways, after around 40 minutes of rage inducing windows live garbage and around 20 of setting up my ps3 controller, I can now finally play dark souls yeeey. I was almost at smough and ornstein on my ps3 character so got some catching up to do.

Keyboard alone works, but the mouse is weird with negative acceleration. I'd recommend the game even without a controller, but I would highly recommend getting a controller, even a cheap one. The keyboard is adequate enough though if you can't spend $10 on a controller and have a standard keyboard layout. You can rebind the keys anyway. It's basically wasd for movement, ijkl for camera, and arrows for the menu(different because game doesn't pause in the menu and you may need to move still). Actions are handled by surrounding key(things like shift and tab for block and parry, space for dodge/roll, h and u for regular and heavy attack, q e r and f for changing equipment, etc.). A weird quirk is that opening the menu is over on del since it's close to arrows for navigating. It takes a little to get used to, but so do the controller controls, and it works fine when you do get used to it. I eventually set up my $10 controller to work with it because I was used to the ps3 version already, but used the keyboard for days beforehand because I was too lazy to look for an xbox 360 controller emulator and just wanted to play, and I had no real issues. Still go back to keyboard sometimes when my controller pisses me off and I want to jump attack reliably.

By the way, how do I do the drop down attack ? The tutorial uses the controller button to explain thing I never found out what the equivalent is on the keyboard. Been dieing to the Taurus demon over and over again.

it's the first time in a long time (like 3-4 characters) that I've gone straight to Frampt with the Lordvessel instead of doing 4K right after O&S. Such a relief... Also it's pretty crazy how much easier O&S are when you don't use the lightning spear @_@

Edit: After clearing the Depth (never fought that giant rat for some reason) I went straight to Blighttown cos I thought thats where I am supposed to go. The place was hellish hard so I began to search for a way out, knowing that there's a way leading to Firelink shrine somewhere. After like 30 minutes of desperate attempt to escape I lost all 48000 souls I've hoarded. Main weapon is breaking down. I lit a bonfire in blighttown but have no freaking clue where I am supposed to go.

I lit a bonfire in blighttown but have no freaking clue where I am supposed to go. Don't worry about the souls, it may seem like a lot, but it's really not. Blighttown is pretty hard, but it is where you are supposed to go, all the way at the bottom in the swamp past the trolls is Quealaags Domain, where the lower bell is. If you need to repair your weapon, you could either go from the bottom of the swamp riding up the waterwheel to get back to lower firelink, or you could go back the way you came back to the depths(keep an eye out for ladders to get up, often by torches, sometimes they're easy to miss). The first depths room with the pool has a shortcut on the far left corner (heading from blighttown), and then it's a short trek to lower undead burg where right in front of you is the shortcut back to firelink(this goes past the moss lady who sells blooming purple moss to cure toxic). There's a smith in lower firelink down some stairs on the right side in a cell facing the lake, or there's the smith in the undead parish up the elevator from firelink. You should buy the repairbox whenever you can, lets you repair at bonfires. A controller is still highly recommended, even if it just a $10 one, though it takes almost as much getting used to as the keyboard setup(which is honestly probably the best possible setup on a keyboard to incorporate everything easily, it just wasn't designed for it and is only hard to use if you aren't used to hitting keys around a wasd/ijkl base in similar setups like fps, especially ones before mouselook). Edit: Here is a video showing the waterwheel route. You can just run past the trolls at the top, though he fights them. He also runs past the smith in lower firelink/new londo to go up to firelink. I couldn't find a video for the way back to the depths, but you came that way anyway, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

What are some fun builds that you guys like to do when bored of cutting everything down with a sword? I did a big heavy armor (havels) + grass crest + (strength) 2h build my first play through and i felt cheated. It was really easy to just tank through everything. Basically dumped all points into hp, endurance and strength. I'm on my second play through now using a full dex, endurance (eventually some int) build using +4 chaos blade and +14 washing pole. I haven't put any points into vitality at all. I'm doing this build while wearing <25% load and dark wood grain ring. I have almost 0 poise and I can't take too many hits. This build has made me a 10x better player because I totally and completely rely on avoidance. I simply can't get hit, even 1 or 2 hits means death for me because I won't recover. I feel everyone should make one of these characters once just to become super boss mode at dodging. It's amazing how much better i've become at recognizing patterns on bosses etc., and how easily I can avoid being hit. I used to just hold up my shield, take the hit, switch 2h and ravage everything. I'm currently clearing to 4K after beating S&O so I can join darkwraiths this time. Last time I placed the lord vessel first and was unable. I think my dex guy is currently SL54.

Im doing the EXACT same build right now, the coincidence haha. Its very rewarding to play like this and succeed, since it feels much more like you pulled something off. Chaos blade was kind of a disappointment for me :/, it drains so much life dammit.
