Anyways, going through NG+, just finished Taurus. Does anyone have suggestion of what stats to take next (I'm plan to stop at lvl 120), I'm not sure if it's worth raising endurance above 40 (but on the other hand, more endurance is never a bad thing), or if I should focus on vitality. My character is a bit of a tank, so I will usually block rather then evade. Str seems useless as my weapon has no scaling (fire zwei+10). Shield is Sunlight+15, I really love that shield, and what's best, it has the same balance as Black Iron shield+10, but is lighter for about 10 points. http://i.imgur.com/HG4Ys.jpg Nice character name ^-^

shamelessly stolen from one of my favorite games, FFT (the main character is Ramza Beoulve). Now that my pryo has 16 fireballs, things are going more steadily. Been farming Capra demon for a while to get my flame up:=)

Been grinding a lot of Kiln PvP and maybe I'm just inexperienced with heavier weapons since this is my first char with any significant amounts of Strength, but the Gravelord's Sword plays way better than I expected it to. Decent reach, poisons fast, and I really like a few of it's animations. Specifically the speed of its 2H Heavy attack, the short charge THRUST; and its running attack, which is very fast and can catch people off-guard to push them into stunlock with constant R1 followup. Maybe a lot of heavy weapons work like this, pretty excited to try more. It's fun to play smart with them and find the hidden techniques, instead of just swinging for the fences.

Obviously I'm really early into the game, but I chose to play Thief, got to level 14 (still in the first fortress area, didn't kill the boss on the wall yet) [I took a health ring for starter item coz it said it gives hp REGEN, it doesnt, I'm mad] So basically I like the idea of huge bosses, redoing areas after death etc. But I feel like the game is telling me to stay on those Undead guys forever (or at least for too long). Even those skeletons in the starting area are almost impossible to kill when normal undeads are dying in 2 hits. Not even talking about the guy in the dungeon when you go outside the fortress (who just one hits me if I don't dodge, but I guess it's how it should be), or the Sauron guy near the blue ring. I feel like the only thing I can do is dodge and land few hits every now and then (and firebombs, cool). I can do that in Diablo too. Sure I can use shield vs lesser guys but I'm a frikkin thief. I don't feel like I have enough mechanics to use to gain advantage over my enemies. Also killing harder monsters would be fine if you didn't need to repeat it every time you die. Maybe I just need to farm a lot more? Do you actually get some better moves as the game goes on? Is the game getting better with time? And all the minor technical things like not-smooth-at-all camera(which makes your head hurt after couple of hours) or mouse cursor not hidden (have to use 3rd party to hide it) Please someone convince me to play ![]()

Just 2shotting everything lol. oh and how does Equip Load affect stamnia and speed? I can't quite tell. Others have mentioned the run/roll speed already, but stamina is affected by which armor you wear. Heavy armors will reduce your stamina regeneration, and each piece has a reduction. It's most noticable with Havel's set since it really slows your stamina regen a lot. The stamina regen boosters(grass crest shield, mask of child, green blossom, power within) work really well with heavy armor though.

I'd almost liken it to a fighting game, where if you don't know how to play or do any combos you probably won't do very well at first, but once you learn how to play you become quite powerful and can take advantage of enemies and punish them a lot easier, parry and dodge are extremely powerful and op when you can use them correctly. The game gets technically gets better with time, as it gets better when you get more practiced with the combat. You really need to upgrade your weapon, and equipment. The first blacksmith is pretty early in the game, near the undead parish. I also noticed the description for that ring is still bugged in the opening, but the gift you choose is not that important, all of them are obtainable in game.

My character will totally do a move I input ages ago (video game ages), giving the action a slight sluggish tang to everything. The fact that it can buffer inputs at all is part of what makes it feel like a fighting game to me, just with longer actions and recoveries. It also really discourages button mashing in favor of more deliberate inputs and timing, as you'll roll twice when you only want to roll once if you are just buttonmashing. Theres a lot of small timing things you can do with the inputs, like rolling when you land from a fall that would stun you and not being stunned, drinking two sips from your flask without putting it down(or after an attack drinking estus faster when you would normally be in recovery), changing directions in the middle of an attack(with curved sword forward+attack cartwheels, you can turn around after the input to cartwheel forwards and be in position to backstab), toggle canceling a stunlock, partial parries to avoid stun and a lot of the damage(all attacks in the game can be partial parried, even magic), power block to block and move, instant dash for running attack, etc.

Fighting games (the good ones) have been doing this for decades now. This is solved territory.

Do not think that you are going to be able to run up and backstab every enemy in the game because it won't work. What build you are going for is not going to really matter until you get to a higher level. For starting out, I would just get the minimum stats to use your weapon and shield and then get some vitality and endurance. As you level up, you can then later start putting points in int/faith/melee centric stats as you wish. So I started playing like yesterday, played few hours and I'm not really sure what to think.
