Well, I don't know how severe it is with you right now, but the ps3 did have issues with that too sometimes, maybe slightly worse on pc for me right now, but only slightly, enough to attribute disconnects from world to cowards pulling out their internets. Failing to invade would happen enough for me on ps3, especially at the wrong levels, to the point where I just kept using the cat covenent ring most of the time, since it also let me do other stuff while I waited.

The port is basically exactly the same as the console versions except for the extra content, which some pc people seem to think is "bad". The game didn't get worse from porting though. Load times are way faster, and slowdown is less of an issue though it still sometimes happens in the places it did on console(blightown swamps water seems to be an issue for me, if it's not onscreen, like if I'm looking up, slowdown goes away, if I was having that issue at the time, the issue isn't always there though). The res fix makes it look nicer than it did on console too. But basically it's the same as on console. If that means bad in your mind, fine, but I can enjoy it just as much as I did on console because it's the same, but renders higher, loads faster, has new content, and good item tweaks.

58, and in oolacile township & anor londo. it's not like there aren't people i can invade - i fail a lot, and when people try to invade me 9/10 times they don't connect to me (as i can tell because a door will become fogged/can't use orbs etc). i have all the ports open, uPnP enabled, NAT, etc etc etc.

WHen I was past Artorias my character was level 90 and I suppose most other players are above your level too so they cant invade you anymore Really? He seems level appropriate to me. Shit i think was like 35 in anor londo. And still got a lot of invasions. This is on xbox which also had extremely bad connection issues.

Just because the door fogs doesn't mean you are actually being invaded or at the right level, just that someone in your current p2p group is trying to invade anyone in your p2p group. It would be more of an issue if you invaded but as soon as you spawned in their world you disconnected from master of world, just regular failing an invasion without that happens a lot when your level just doesn't match the area. Also if you are in the way of the white(and maybe sunlight or princess guard but I'm not sure about those), then you will have a lower priority of being invaded than those who aren't, and get invaded less.

You are not trying to use the R2 attack with the black knight sword type weapons are you? Those are pretty unusably slow other than for the opening "poke" on certain things. The 'quick' attack is actually pretty good though. It gets trashed a bit for it's lesser reach than other greatswords but the dps, medium attack speed that is just fast enough for those "get one hit and dodge away" fights, high impact for stunning, being a non-magic damage sword for good handling of most armor and resists, hidden 20% damage bonus against a decent portion of the game's bosses and minibosses+everything in Izalith ("chaos demons", which is to say all the game's demon entities), compared to 8 pound weight make the black knight sword pretty great. If you can handle the doubled weight the greataxe manages to about entirely outdo it though, as with artorias' sword but that has stiff for str types faith/int stat requirements. I assume that since we are talking about heavy weapons we are not talking about pvp. The PC's nerfed to oblivion version of the darkwood grain ring seems to have killed such builds, at least until people start looking at going (well) past 40 endurance.

Despite all those shortcomings, this game fucking rocks. It is probably the best RPG i've ever played, im in NG+ now, done the new content and manus, beat ornstein and smough(thanks solaire) and the preceding bosses (fuck your dogs, capra demon) and I can't get enough. Probably gonna do kalameet with my buddy when i get home tonight. FUCK YEAH DARK SOULS!

On September 14 2012 14:12 myopia wrote: Are all heavy weapons useless for PvP? Hmm, back on Console BKGA was considered heavy i think, and it was freakishly popular. Moonlight Greatsword too I don't play the PC version now, but i heard they nerfed the DWGR. In that case, just mix and match Giant set, Sun set (the one dropped by Solaire) and Wiz set (the one drop by the Wizard dude that sell all the Crystal Spells, sry been too long i forgot all the names) till you reach the weight you desire (according to your stat spread, of course). I remember them to have among the best (if not the best) Stat to Weight ratio. Poise might be a problem, but Giant set has a healthy chunk of that, so that shouldn't be too much of a problem either. @Plague Not sure about the Metagame now, but back when i was still playing, Sorcery was a little short of useless imho. Short of ambushing him from a blindspot (which often isn't possible if he is careful), that shit never hits. And in close quarter, a good forward roll rapes u hard. In standard duels (where people bow n stuff) i don't think i ve ever been hit unless i screw up badly. And even then those guys usually are bad and get stomped anw. Back when i was still playing this on PS3, i remember the strongest guys are usually: Moonlight Greatsword if they are heavy, where were some particularly nasty ones. Washing Pole/Iaito user. These guys are usually fast, and they hit like a truck with Crystal Magic Weapon, some even use Power Within, but it's risky as you can just turtle out. Some variants of Bandit Knife (i think)/Rapier + a small shield made for Riposting. These guys can be really annoying if you use weapons with long swings like BKGA. Speaking of BKGA, some variants of them were pretty dangerous as well, esp the guys with Pyro on switch or off-hand. There were Wrath-spammer and they can be annoying, but they are usually noobs, they generally get smoked out quickly if u figure out their pattern, and not let them back you into a corner (I fight in that Garden where the Cat Covenant people keep attacking u, forgot actual name T_T)

Darkwood is great for farming too while you wait for invasions, just run to all those NPCs aggro them and then run back to the stairs and go towards the cliff. you can fit right between the stairs and the edge and the NPCs will try to jump on you from above and fall down the edge of the cliff.

On September 14 2012 14:12 myopia wrote: Are all heavy weapons useless for PvP? Heavy weapons are actually really good in pvp if you can stay at least under 50% weight. A heavy weapon will stun most enemies on hit(and if its one of the faster weapons in its class, it can possibly stunlock too) and will always be really strong regardless of how much armor the opponent has. At worst it'll go from two shotting to three shotting players. With all the old builds dwgr didn't actually give you any more equip burden to play around with since you would go for 50% if you were using a heavy weapon anyway, it just gave you fastest run speed(not that useful) and the flip(really useful). Dark wood grain ring being nerfed just means that a lot less people will be ninja flipping with all builds, as under 25% builds using dwgr won't be as common, but that doesn't make the heavy weapons any worse. In fact it makes them better because less people will be using the flip to get away easier. A lot of the heavy weapons also usually have really good range on their attacks and can still hit enemies trying to roll away. For example, earlier today while pvping using ultra greatswords I stunned someone with the first hit, went for and got a second hit in (because I knew they didn't have poise), and then they tried to roll out of my third swing but I still caught them anyway and got a kill. Only took about 5 seconds after bowing to beat them down. Mobility is important for pvp though, so you have to be sure you can wear the weapon and gear with poise on it(this is necessary in pvp to not be interrupted or stunlocked to death) and not be over 50% so that others don't just run circles around you and backstab.

Invading is sketchy sometimes, i've waited 5 minutes at a bonfire because some ppl tried to invade without actually anyone showing up. The sorceries are stupid in pvp too, i get one shotted even though i have heavy armor and like 32 vitality, 75 poise, upgraded armor, upgraded black knight shield etc. Despite all those shortcomings, this game fucking rocks. They do a lot of damage, but they should never be hitting you anyway. You don't even need to roll to dodge a lot of sorceries, just moving left or right at mid to close distances is often, though rolling is easy and safe at all ranges and spells anyway. Also, if you can manage it you really should get 1 more poise, then nothing standard will stun you in one hit at 76. Greathammers, greataxes, ultra greatswords 2 handed will poise break 75 or less.
