I want to do things like turn into an object, wait for an enemy to run past me, and then cast a powerful spell at them since they aren't looking at me. Casting a spell is a pretty loud warning signal, and people will usually roll back and forth immediately if they hear one and don't know where it's coming from, maybe you can get a dark bead or pursuers, but most spells aren't really good for a surprise attack. Chameleon is better for sneak attacks. I personally clear out the bushes after I clear the area of enemies if I plan to pvp, but be aware that even though you may turn into an object you still have a light radius, so an attentive player may spot you anyway. Once on ps3 I've even been running towards a host in darkroot, and suddenly have a phantom pop out of a bush and immediately start surprise attacking me. I still won that 1v2 fight anyway because combustion is really freaking good xD

I tried playing it when it came out for PC but barely got through options and the first 1 minute of the game because keybinds and controls weren't working correctly, couldn't bind mousebuttons etc. Has anything changed? I really want to play this game but I don't think I can be bothered with an xbox controller. Didn't change anything, playing with Mouse/KB, zero issues.

Also, does increasing intelligence increase the effectiveness of my spells and magic? and Can I increase how effective each Estus is?

Estus are improved by getting Fire Keeper Souls which are found at specific locations in the game. You shouldn't use these souls yourself, but instead speak to a fire keeper (there's one below firelink shrine and one in anor londo) and they will let you improve your flasks.

Intelligence doesn't directly increase your damage, but the catalysts/talismans you use have a magic adjust stat that changes the damage/healing done, etc. And those weapons scale with intelligence (sometimes better, sometimes worse).

Faith is for miracles Pyromancy uses neither so you can carry on your strength build and still use pyromancy to its full efficiency. If you get the pyro glove then you just keep upgrading it with souls and that will keep on increasing the pyro spells damage.

If I remember, I just beat the spiderlady in blighttown and I'm 100% melee only. I don't even have spells and have never put 1 point into anything related to spells. All my stats have gone into vitality, endurance and strength. I use a +5 garg halbred and a crystal shield right now, seems to work. I think I need to get a legit lightning weapon + turn my garg halbred fire.. I don't think I'm at the point of the game to do that yet though. all I can do now are temporary enchants with resin. Don't worry. I just beat the game with a pure melee build (dex/vit/end) as well. You can always create a new character after you finish the game. It'll make your second playthrough a lot easier since you'll know all the shortcut and what to do.

You don't need magic at all to go through the game. My first character was a pyromancer, but I didn't use pyro very much. It's situationally good at dispatching multiple foes because of the AoE, but it's really not necessary. The only time I was really, really thankful I had pryo spells was in Sens fortress with that stupid spellcaster on the ledge -_-. you can't reach him with melee because you will fall off, but if you don't kill him, he will shoot things at you while you try to dodge flying axes.
