How the fuck do you kill the first boss? I do like 0 damage to his fat ass in 3 hours.
Has to be said I am certainly in the camp of 'hate' this game so far. I dont know how anyone can find dying this much enjoyable...
You run past him. There's a door behind him on the left. You will be able to kill him with a better weapon later.

Has to be said I am certainly in the camp of 'hate' this game so far. I dont know how anyone can find dying this much enjoyable... Just learn from your mistakes. I've only beaten Dark Souls once, and I can easily get at least to the bell gargoyles without dying, regardless of gear.
First boss, I assume you mean the Taurus demon, there's no way you're dying to the tutorial boss unless you missed the fact that you're not supposed to fight him. As for the taurus boss (skeletons shooting at you), just do like this: Enter, go up the ladder, kill the archers. Go down, walk over until the Taurus demon shows up, now run back to the ladder and climb up. Once there, the demon will be standing below. Just walk off the ledge and attack midair. Boom, you just took like 30% of his life. Now, target him and wait for him to start his attack animation. When he does, roll back, then run forward and attack 1-2 times, then wait for his next move. If you walk too far back, good. Roll pasth im, run to ladder, jump on his ass again.
This boss is ridiculously easy becase he's slow as shit, he shouldn't hit you even once, and if he does, it's not a problem, he can't oneshot you so you can simply heal up when he does his next attack. He is weak to fire, so if you have pyromancy or fire bomb, blast him.
EDIT: Reading his post again and the post above mine, I'm getting more and more sure he's talking about the tutorial boss... Which is wierd, because it says in a tutorial message on the ground specifically that you should RUN... and you have a broken sword, what is to be expected??

the steam forums say that this game uses your gfwl language, so you would need to change that if you want english.

Yeah the game is definitely ultra hard, but still freakingly awesome.
I myself had to start over and over around 5/6 times to kill the second boss (Demon Taurus) before I understood how to do it, and this despite the fact I always used the Drop attack, just that I used it once then i thought bombing him would be enough.
I agree with the guy telling you can't outskill that game. It is not made to be outskilled.
Right now I played 5h since relase (2h then dining then 3h or so), I know how to keep moving but I just can't take my death for now, I'll wait a bit : D

The game seems to be more about finding the tricks for each situation then just 'outskilling' them. First boss from what I remember make sure you get the leap attack to start with (R1 while falling)r, does huge damage. Then just lock on to him (I tried to kill him for 15mins without knowing you could lock on camera and that seemed pretty impossible) and just dodge his attacks with rolls and slash a lot.
Yep, it's more a thinking mans RPG than an action game. Incredible atmosphere too. This and Demon's Souls are both big ass love letters aimed directly at gamers. No game design motivated by greed, no easy mode, no nickel and diming schemes, just pure gaming awesomeness.

I would highly recommend kindling bonfires, having more potions is really useful, but you don't have to do it now. You probably want to wait until a bit later so you can run through an area and kindle all the bonfires without dying and going hollow, and possibly wait until after you can kindle them to lvl 3 with the Rite of Kindling.
Farming humanity is actually not that difficult despite what the other poster said. Farming the item that gives you humanity is tedious, but you can easily get humanity(non-item form) from PvP a lot, or killing bosses(regular or co-oping). Not all of the PvP methods yield humanity, but just turning human and going to the forest hunter place is easy enough to get invaded by red spirits; I've seen them drop 7+ humanities at a time before. PvP also gets you tons of souls. You can get hundreds of thousands of souls off of single enemies sometimes. Spend an hour or two doing PvP and you make a million souls easy, so don't worry too much about losing a few thousand souls in the early game.
Humanity is also good to hold in general because it ups your item discovery(one of only 3 ways to do so) and your defenses, but until you are good enough to run around without dying a lot, just wait to kindle bonfires til you can do a bunch at once.

Yuck, the mouse camera movement is really jerky and icky, controller it is then.

I would recommend getting the gravelord sword at the start, it's a good weapon to use early game. oh look i found a video after typing a long and confusing text on how to do a suicide run to obtain it. + Show Spoiler +. This guy didn't show that you have to push a switch first at the opening in the left in 1:07 to open the pathway to go straight, just suicide to get that first.

so how can i get help from other players? those 2 gargoyles bossfight has been kicking my ass for like 2 hours now lol
|
^reverse hollowing. It will enable you to summon other players/npcs and will enable other players to invade you as well.

You have to go to the bonfire and reverse hollowing with a humanity to turn human. If you are human, you can see White messages on the ground, usually right before the boss or at the bonfire. Use them to see the player and then choose to summon him. If you don't have any humanity, try gold pine resin on your weapon for extra damage against the gargoyles.

Also, regardless of other players, you will always find Solaires mark (unless you killed him) outside of this boss, so you will at least get NPC help, which helps a TON on this fight.

It was worse than I thought it would be. I especially lol'd at the rendering resolution. Thank god for modders.

So uh, I knew it wouldn't be anything else than straight up port from the console version but it's pretty much unplayable for me with mouse and keyboard. Doesn't help that when moving around my mouse jumps to my second monitor for some reason and after that it's go time... Yeah I'll just buy my friend's old ps to play this game.
