He also has horizontal sweep that can throw you down the cliff so watch out for that.

+ Show Spoiler + Nope, you need to kill him to get rid of the lava and progress further into Demon Ruins.

You can also just grab the Gold-Hemmed Set at the end of the area he's in, and run back through the little crevice off to the left and go back to the fog gate (he'll swipe at you once as you're running away, be careful). He'll do a slam attack with one of his arms right in front of you, and leave it there; just hit the arm a few times and he'll fall off the cliff and die.
Note that if you fuck up and die, you still have to run to the altar where you picked up the Gold-Hemmed Set and then run back. If you stand at the fog gate on the second attempt, he'll just blow fire at you until you die.

Oh right, I totally forgot you can do that

Yeah, and i would guess that that is almost certainly a bug because its really silly.

The animation and length he hangs on are unique compared to all his other attacks. I believe it's intentional. Not something that's super common to figure out without help/online either.

I actually don't think it's a bug. He gets mad when you take the Gold Hemmed Set because it belonged to one of his sisters, that's where he rips out the limb that he lunges at you with when you get back to the fog door. At that point, he is literally hanging off of the cliff just by that limb, and when you start hitting it, he loses his grip and falls.

Well it is kind of hard to tell what is a bug and what is intentional with From Software.

So a while ago, in this very thread, i made a super ragey post about the game. Had trouble installing, hated gfwl, hated lack of m+kb support. Finally got everything going, got invaded and one shot. Then pissed off the crestfallen warrior who killed me over and over at firelink. A rocky start, i considered uninstalling. I must say I'm glad i didn't, because i am absolutely in love with this game. Just beat O&S, and I'm psyched for whatever is next. Still haven't figured out parrying for shit, nor pvp, but I'm sure they'll come in time!

Sounds kinda like me! It can be tough in the beginning but I ended up loving this game like no other. Good that you stuck around
|
So I started, three hours in now (the first half being wasted on the unkillable Asylum Demon...) and now I'm facing a dragon that sets a bridge afire. I managed to run past her, evade her by using the lower part of her bridge, but is there a way to actually KILL her? I really suspect she drops a scale that boosts my fire resist.
And man I love this game already, such a great experience to discover stuff without handholding. Getting past the Dark Knight, luring him into the abyss and getting his sword as a reward felt AMAZEBALLS!
|
Yes you can, in fact, you have to...
|
So I'm not losing anything if I let her fly away for now?
Not sure why I call her a "she", maybe because she reminds me of Alexstrazsa.
|
You do not have to kill the dragon
|
There are some cheap tactics to kill the dragon, in spoiler, obviously !
+ Show Spoiler +USE A BOW AND AIM TO ITS TAIL FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BRIDGE and after you cut it, do it from the other side pass the door.
Just remember to cut the tail of every boss that has one

is it still worth getting this game on pc with some decent multiplayer? or has everyone moved on to ds2 and bloodborne? Asking this because I have pirated the game for a long time now but i'm considering buying it as long as there are some guys to pvp with and summon with.

DkS1: 5k DkS2: 6k DkS2 SOTFS: 10k
and the comunity its pretty loyal to the game so i doubt those game would die any time soon

What youre looking for does not exist in DS1/2. Its just the occasional person logging on for an hour, not dedicated players. If you're looking for a game to invest time into a community, DS1/2 is not it.

What you are talking about, i just leveled this week on Dark Souls 1 and since this was my first time finishing it i actually took sweet time. Had no problem at all with getting pvp from lvl 30 to 125, sometimes i could get 10 invasions off in 20 mins which i consider pretty good (I started invading at Depths, then constant pvp at Anor Londo, Forest and Oolacile). Summoning signs for pve bosses are quite rare sight those days, but im not sure if it wasn't cause i was quite massivly overleveled for the content i was doing. And everytime i checked the game had at least 3,5k players playing it past week.
Dark Souls 2 is very much alive, and it ain't occasional players logging in from time to time. And now with the bloodborne hype and release of sins it's even better than usually. EDIT: I just did test it with fresh character, at Pursuer there were 3 summoning signs waiting for me, i did put mine too and got summoned in about 30 seconds. Same story with Old Dragonslayer, but here i had to wait for at least 1 minute before i got summoned. (directx9 version)
So in short, ignore what guy above me said and feel free to get the game, it's so much more fun when you actually have the chance to interact with others instead of just solo hero pve.

More exactly, you probably should not kill the dragon right now. It will be incredibly hard. And by incredibly hard i mean incredibly hard by Dark Souls standards. There is another way.
