Yeah i beat him awhile back, was hard as shit haha. But ya i think ill go through Sen Fortress then, i tried before going into the forest, and was getting raped on that stupid bridge, because it has giant blades swinging + snake dudes trying to kill you + some fucking guy who's shooting projectiles at me!! All this on this tiny little walk way! Going to be brutal. Ill make sure to stream that ROFL.

Astora´s sword is sort of "drake sword-esque" weapon for cleric starting class. With master key you can get it right after you make it to Firelink. It has 160 base damage, half magical, half physical. It scales quite badly and upgrading it is both hard and ineffective(needs twinkling titanite and only gains +8/+8 damage). It is still a divine weapon so it has its uses later in the game.

Yeah, after comparing it to my other weapons, it seems not really worth upgrading. Butchers Knife will have to do!

If you can take them on, you're good to go. If you can't, better level up some and upgrade your weapons!
Sen's Fortress is really fun though. It reminded me of the earlier 3D adventure games, where dodging obstacles and solving puzzles was the biggest challenge.

So i bought this recently (well, ages ago, only installed recently), just curious with the PC version is there any way to make it smoother? Camera feels super shaky, in tight and open areas.. It's really annoying.

Thanks for quick reply, will give it a shot.

Sens fortress is actually really easy once you've gone through it a few times, so make sure to enjoy yourself. Every part of that fortress is just a massive trap, which makes it very fun to explore, and there's quite a lot of stuff to find there as well. Don't worry if you die a lot, that's sort of the point. Just push through and once you've beaten it, check a speedrun video of how to beat it quickly, it will blow your mind ^^

There's a relatively new speedrun by the way, 24mn I think, or 27 =)

You should consider looking up the location of the fire in Sen's fortress, it is pretty hidden and really annoying if you miss it.

Nyah, let him find it by himself. :D I remember I found that second bonfire my total random moment - was just dodging the "balls" and jumped off that "balcony" area. I was awaiting "you died" message, but instead found a safe area o.O
And by the way, DSfix is a must. Also DCfix is great - I've been able to play with friends and help them with bosses without any problem with connectivity.
Edit: 27 minute Dark Souls speedrun? Link? It sounds insane!
Edit2. http://speeddemosarchive.com/DarkSouls.html this one? it's.... madness! Totally crazy.
Now I feel ashamed I wrote a guide for Dark Souls for the portal I'm working in lol.

Picked this game up during the Steam Sale and don't know why I didn't pick it up earlier. It's so damn difficult and frustrating at times, but I never feel like its the game's fault; nothing seems unfair. Dying sucks - it's a learning experience, but it's also fun. Had my first encounter with the Bell Gargoyles and got my ass kicked almost immediately 2-3 times. I tried again with Knight Lautrec and he went beastmode until I got roasted when the second Gargoyle joined the fray. I didn't have any humanity left to summon him again, so I said fuck it and upgraded the Longsword I was using and went at it solo. I fought cautiously and methodically - just picking my spots to deal damage and then getting the hell out of Dodge. The fight got real intense when the second Gargoyle came since I ran out of flask charges. I managed to eek out a victory somehow along with slicing off one of their tails to serve as my trophy (and weapon). Ringing that bell was so goddamn satisfying.

If you ever run out of humanity, you can earn it by killing enemies in an area where the "area boss" is still alive. After a certain number of kills your humanity counter increases by 1. You can earn up to 10 humanity per area doing this. Dying, using the bonfire, or leaving the area does not reset your monster kill count for that area.

I didn't find that bonfire at all, I beat the golem by using the elevator. It's the biggest (and possibly one of the only) issues with the way Dark Souls is designed. I love how it doesn't hold your hand or drown you in text tutorials... but it's really annoying when you miss bonfires, and some of them are really well hidden (the one in the catacombs for example).

That run uses the Kiln glitch, which has been patched and is more or less considered cheating. There are really impressive speedruns out there though, I recommend Lobos, he does challenge runs. He beat the whole game using only shields in like 2 hours.

This is a crazy time for a run with the kin glitch. If you don't think the play of this guy is impressive, I don't know :o He would have the non glitched record easily with how good he is.

In all seriousness though, I think Dark Souls is one of those few games where you get a real sense of accomplishment when you achieve anything in the game, because most things are hard-fought and have to really be earned. With that being said, I've spent over 300 hours in Dark Souls but I've barely dove into Demon's Souls... I think I'm starting to really like the Dualshock 3 less and less with each passing day. I'm so ready for Dark Souls 2, and thus far I've managed to keep myself in the dark about the game aside from the first trailer and developer interview.

Demon Souls is amazing too ! Nearly worth a PS3 just for it :p

I like Demon's Souls a lot less than Dark Souls already, and I only have about 9 hours in the game. Stonefang Tunnel is awful.
